For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh, for some reason I thought the foam was something supposed to taste like something else, but that actually tasted like styrofoam.

Pea foam. Why? In any way better than, just, y'know, peas?

FrannyandZooey · 28/04/2009 10:07

sorry boco

what texture is pea foam? is it like whipped egg whites? what makes it foam?

Wow, pointy, I am well impressed at your thread reading stamina!

Glad to hear your good news Mits.

Morning all.

OJ
raisins
apple.

I am trying to type while holding apple - not easy!

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 28/04/2009 12:34

Oh...absolute respect to the etemophobes...

I think there should be a nut disclosure at the top. ''whilst we do not actively condone you mentioning that you have eaten nuts on this thread, and will not award a sticker for so doing, you can never the less give yourself a pat on the back for eating them instead of filling your mushes eating biscuits and cake.

Mushrooms,
tomatoes,
boccoli,
mango,
orange,
juice,
apple...

Does cleaning my DD's bedroom count as exercise?.....for such a sweet thing she is a flippin nightmare where her bedroom is concerned...she is a one woman demolition unit.
However with some loud music, it will be fun and she is such a love if you do it for her.

I don't think I would like pea foam, or anything foam.

Oh well...off to the pink pit of doom....

TooTicky · 28/04/2009 12:36

Poor bunny (again!!) in his run.

And poor washing on the line.

TigerFeet · 28/04/2009 14:24

I've just accidentally eaten almost an entire bag of haribo

One went in, after another, then another; some people in the office had one or two lots and then they were all gone.

[gets coat]

SuperBunny · 28/04/2009 14:26

Mango was here, yay!

Um, nowt to report for today.

I'm curious - what sort of houses do you live in? New, old or in between?

TigerFeet · 28/04/2009 14:43

My house is about 20 years old SB. Old enough to be on a reasonable sized plot but new enough to have tiny bathroom, kitchen and third bedroom. I prefer older houses but this was what we could afford when we were buying. It's OK, but I would like more room. Am curious as to why you want to know! What sort of apartment (?) do you have?

Incidentally I have a question/observation for you. In a fit of utter boredom the other day I scanned through the weather on Teletext the other day and looked at the weather where you live... there seem to be some real temperature swings from day to day, 4 or 5'C one day then 20+ the next. That must be very difficult to dress for!

mollyroger · 28/04/2009 15:32

I've never had pea foam. I've had a foamy pee though....

sorry, sorry, can't resist a bad pun.

Melon,
banana,
Plums
Grapes n(red and green)
Rasps

Mushroom
Onion
Sprimg onions
Red peppers
tomato
celery.

And still got dinner to come!

littlerach · 28/04/2009 15:43

SB, my house was built the same year I was born
It is end of terrcae, htought the estate agent said it was semi
Has been extended lots, by previous owners.
Reasonable size garden htough we have extended that so now good size

My fave house was when we lived in Bath.
1930's one.
Felt like a real house.
But too small.

Nevermind.

Why are you asking?

mollyroger · 28/04/2009 15:43

SB, 15 year old house, crap surbuban semi with, like TF, tiny bathroom, kitchen and 3rd bedroom
Was all we could afford. Old=character and therefore highly sought-after, therefore very expensive in my town.

Guadalupe · 28/04/2009 16:16

I didn't eat the foam, partly because it was a bit meh and partly because leeks don't agree with me.

I spent half the morning organising trying to go and look at these bloody sleepers. We are not going to get reclaimed ones because they leak creosote which is now known to be carcinogenic and having them as steps rather than a border will mean our skin comes in contact a lot, so we are having new ones which won't look as nice but won't slowly kill us.

Except dh didn't bother to tell me he'd already bloody bought them so that was a waste of of time and then I locked myself out and I have a coldsore and all in all I am feeling a tad grumpy. Snarl.

Has anyone tried salt and vinegar rice cakes, the big ones? They are lovely, almost as good as crisps. I ate six earlier with a whole pot of salsa. I felt better after that.

Guadalupe · 28/04/2009 16:18

Old and characterful = deadly in this case. And there was asbestos in the hall and we currently have a huge trough in the front garden for them to take out the lead water pipe.

littlerach · 28/04/2009 17:25

Yes, I like those Guad.

Ou railway sleepers are new ones as dh was worried about tar on reclaimed ones.
It was amusing when they were delivered as they came on a huge lorry thing.
Dh made ours into steps (I was v impressed).

carrots
pepper
tomatoes

Guadalupe · 28/04/2009 18:02

Did he? Dh isn't doing ours thank the lord for small mercies. What do they look like, are they very pale?

I am heating up leftover vegi chilli and adding tons of spinach and making a quick dahl. It smells lovely. I should have good portions today.

SuperBunny · 28/04/2009 18:03

I was asking about houses because I have been looking at property porn and fantasising about living in the UK.

My apartment is VERY small - maybe 6m x 10m but on the 7th floor with huge windows - we have a view of downtown and can see all the skyscrapers. It is officially a studio so we have 1 main room, a kitchen, a bathroom and we sleep in a closet (therefore no storage space)!

My house in the UK is a 3 bed semi (the estate agents called it a 'link detached'), about 15 yrs old - small rooms, paper thin walls and little garden.

TF, we often have temperature fluctuations of 15 - 20 degrees C within 24 hours. It makes things interesting.

Guadalupe · 28/04/2009 18:06

This one is 100 years or so, typical small victorian terrace. The new one is a bit bigger and a bit older but not much, 1889 it says on a plaque.

The builder found a postcard from the turn of the century behind the fireplace. It's really sweet, can't make out the message really. Might frame it in the hall.

SuperBunny · 28/04/2009 18:22

Framing the postcard would be nice. My mum lived in a 15 century house and it had burn marks on the floor where logs had been dropped when the house had been an Inn. It was always a talking point.

red pepper
hummous
cucumber

Guadalupe · 28/04/2009 18:29

Wow that is old. Did it have a ghost?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 28/04/2009 18:33

Our house was built in the early 70's and is a 3 bedroom chalet bungalow. 2 bedrooms upstairs, with 1 bedroom, the bathroom, kitchen and living room downstairs. We are extending it at the mo though. It will still be 3 bedroom, but all the bedrooms will be upstairs as will the family bathroom (hurrah!)

here is like what we have at the moment, then the extension is that building again, but turned 180 degrees and put on the side and with dorma windows.

Most of the village has that look on the windows and barge boards, it looks quite twee, but somehow it works.

TooTicky · 28/04/2009 18:36

I have just dropped a piece of sweetcorn into my bra (1)

SuperBunny · 28/04/2009 18:37

Actually, she said it did which is odd because she is not one to believe in ghosts and suchlike. It had an old bread oven which hadn;t been used for decades yet every now and then you could smell bread baking and mym thinks she saw someone in the house - a lady, smiling.

I like the style of your house, lemur.
