For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

mollyroger · 27/04/2009 20:17

''I hereby pledge allegiance to standing nekkid on a hillside, shouting about celery...''

ahundredtimes · 27/04/2009 20:18

There are goals I never knew about. Mind you, I only found out what the other 10 meant a couple of months ago. That's what I like about this thread - endless revelation.

FrannyandZooey · 27/04/2009 20:20

100 are you telling me you have not been working diligently towards improving your energy levels? next you will be saying you just come on here for the banter

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 27/04/2009 20:21

I know. I'd find it quite hard to work out what my energy levels are, or what they were, or whether they have improved. Just thinking about this is tiring me. [Bagpuss emoticon]

nickytwotimes · 27/04/2009 20:22

Pmsl!

Tbh, I am under almost unbearable stress atm and that is knackering me. I do feel better psychologically for doing this though as my k=junk eating was getting out of control. I'm all in favour aof a wee treat, but I was taking the piss and totally seeking solace in food. I stil am but at least it is good stuff.
I have cut out the crap food, except for the odd treat, so I suppose I am feeling better about myself in that way. I don't sleep well and I won't until the stress goes, which could be anytime now or take a year. (We have to sell our house. Ha ha! Seriously, it has ruined our lives. I do not wish to be melodramatic, but... ach, never mind, lol.) Basically, I am screwed till the house goes. Then I will be fine. Until then, I'll hang in on the vegging. It is giving me a positive focus and you lot are pretty top notch support wise.

Poor you. I hated it when we tried to sell our house. Nobody wanted to buy it - it was the flooding house - and it was all miserable. And then, to make everything worse, I ended up hating myself because I'd walk into the room with a bath, sink and toilet and say 'and this is the bathroom' and then I'd have to leave, and go and bang my head against a wall.

I'd say you are doing well on the focus, possibly the self-esteem, well-being sounds like it needs work, unsure on energy levels, but I'm not good on those generally.

LOADS of people will rush on now with sleep remedies. Be prepared - it will involve extract of lavender vinegar or something.

nickytwotimes · 27/04/2009 20:28

What is wrong wth my house? How long have you got?

It is a shit hole on so many levels.
We never feel relaxed or at home. Being here is utter misery.

Apart from that, it is lovely.

Wanna buy it anyone?

ahundredtimes · 27/04/2009 20:29

How interesting. Why don't you feel relaxed in it? Have you always hated it?

nickytwotimes · 27/04/2009 20:29

x post.
Yes, pmsl in recognition at the "and this is the bathroom" line. What can one really say about a bthroom, eh?

ahundredtimes · 27/04/2009 20:31

It's bad that. Sometimes I'd try a variation just to amuse myself like 'you can wash in this room' or 'a handy addition to any home I'm sure you will agree' No wonder it took ages to shift.

mollyroger · 27/04/2009 20:32

eating lettuce at bedtime is supposed to release a sleep-inducing chemical. Either that ot they pass out from boredom..

ahundredtimes · 27/04/2009 20:33

LOL @ passing out from boredom. lolol

Tell us why you hate your house Nicky. Is it neighbours? Flooding? Bad memories? Train line?

FrayedKnot · 27/04/2009 20:34

My name is FrayedKnot and I am having one of those days today when nothing seems quite right.

Am in freefall carb mode and grumpy.

nickytwotimes · 27/04/2009 20:34

Well, there are a couple of reasons we don't feel relaxed.

Our neighbours on one side are total scum bags. We are right on the street and usually have to listen to screaming kids all evening. We renovated it and had a nightmare with the builders. It ended in litigation. We did a lot of renovation ourselves but we needed them for certification type stuff. they were meant to be a good firm too. The manager at the time was responsible and has since 'been moved on' but left a string of upset people behind him. I'm not kidding, it was dreadful. It would have been worth it if we had loved it but we don't. It took 3 years to resolve.

I could go on, but I am rambling.

ahundredtimes · 27/04/2009 20:34

Fk you need to work on your general well being and energy levels methinks.

nickytwotimes · 27/04/2009 20:36

Aw frayedknot, what ails you?

ahundredtimes · 27/04/2009 20:36

Oh yes, that's bad. When bad things have happened in a house, you can't like it and then it's horrid not liking your home. Hold strong. You will sell it eventually.

FrannyandZooey · 27/04/2009 20:36

avi
not you as well
i thought you all printed out the OP and hung on my every word

Extract of lavendar vinegar is very good I hear.

Hating your house is the worst isn't it - had years of that living above raving squatters and not sleeping. We had to give up on it and run away in the end.

100 that must've been the days before google surely - or you'd have googled 'good sales talk for selling your home' and gone expert.

God I'm going to Riga in less than 2 weeks and had forgotten. Friday til Monday with no children
