For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello new thread

100 make sure you come and tell us about how the book club thingy went, and more importantly what flavour crisps they had?!

I'm hosting our book club tonight. It was a Ruth Rendall book and it was shite imo. Quite frankly I expected more from her

I will be serving nice crisps at my book club and I may even stretch to a dip as well!

mollyroger · 24/04/2009 09:02

I used to eat 10 or so apricot kernels at a go when I was a kid and used to eat huge quantities of apricots. And plum stones, which, IIRC, have same risk. And apple pips....

Tis a miracle I'm still here, really.

Blooming Toots has got me singing bastardised versions of UB40 songs now.

Can our next one be ''I am a one in 10, a mung-bean on a list....''

Off to get down and dirty on allotment now.
Happy Friday

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 24/04/2009 09:07

Hello.... good title...

Franny, you and dp have my hugest sympathies, how awful.

yappybluedog · 24/04/2009 09:29

oh, I don't understand this thread title (the apples bit)

Boco · 24/04/2009 09:42

Surely the title doesn't really make sense with the apostrophe - now it says 'if it is happens again I'm leaving'. Eh?

Franny, if you didn't get any further with the flying conchords, would it be ok to get it back, as someone else asking to borrow.

Ds1's hamster might be dying

ahundredtimes · 24/04/2009 12:51

Was a bracing experience last night, but interesting and instructive too.

Though - when not discussing book, I know very shocking, one woman said she wanted to find a dress that she could just pull on to do the school run. And I shouted OMG YOU WANT THE SCHOOL RUN DRESS. And they all looked at me as though I were deranged, and she said 'er, yes, that's right, well, yes'

ahundredtimes · 24/04/2009 12:52

Oh dear unfortunate x-post.

Why do you think so TooT?

TooTicky · 24/04/2009 12:57

He was dragging himself about this morning but floppily and is now not moving and rather cold
Ds1 willbe distraught.

TooTicky · 24/04/2009 12:58

at schoolrun dress.I canpicture your excitement.

ahundredtimes · 24/04/2009 13:04

I have googled for you.

  1. Sleeper disease. Pick up hamster and see if it responds, hold gently, warm up with your hands or a hair drier.
  1. Dehydrated - makes a hamster floppy. Spray with water, hold infront of freezer door, make drink fresh water.
  1. Hibernation.
Guadalupe · 24/04/2009 13:07

SB - I add chopped olives, capers, apple, red onion, celery, at least two lemons, a whole parsley, maybe garlic, salt, pepper and cider vinegar. Maybe not all of the above if I don't have it but always lemon and parsley and something like olives. Sun dried tomatoes are good too.

I love book group snacks. Last time I did paprika crisps, raspberries, brazil nuts and those mini thorntons caramel squares.

Guadalupe · 24/04/2009 13:09

And, Toot, aubergine buns are thick slices of griddled aubergine round the burger, be it animal or vegetable. I might put a slice of mozarella and a spring of thyme in as I grill it. Nice with a crisp salad and some wine.

ahundredtimes · 24/04/2009 13:09

One woman picked up her hamster and put him up her jumper and warmed him up and he was fine. Another ran down the sidewalk with her hamster in her hands to the vet for vitamin shots Also lots of hamsters are diabetic apparently

Guadalupe · 24/04/2009 13:09

and on that note I am going to eat some lunch.

TooTicky · 24/04/2009 13:11

Oh bless you 100x xx

ahundredtimes · 24/04/2009 13:16

Have you got that hamster up your jumper yet? Someone else recommends warming with hands, getting hot water bottle making a pile with sweatshirts and putting hamster in there. Though this obviously not good if in fact hamster is dehydrated. Perhaps you should try warming first and then making drink water. Can you make a hamster drink water? I have no idea.

and on that note I must go and do some work
