For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

lemur! i got cavilon! she couldn't find it in BNF (she was spelling it wrong and i felt there was only so many times i could say "it's with an I" and not actually whip the book out of her hands) so i paid for it, but it looks great
we have new nasty cream to try for nappy rash and once that's done we will use the cavilon

franny, I am not surprised one bit that the dermatologist thought you might not know fromage frais is cow's milk.

I became so weary of being treated like a slightly dim person.

I was about to post something along the lines of, 'listen to all you fruiters talking about how yopu would all run away from trouble, as if anyone would expect fruiters to be hard as nails' and I was smiling at it all. And then guads came along and said she was tuff when she was little.

Tatties · 24/04/2009 20:52

Pink do you not get crumbs in the cupboard if you have to put the toaster in it?

Boco I love the things your girls come out with

Oh when I was going for dermatology appointments they had year planners up on the wall sponsored by formula companies

FrayedKnot · 24/04/2009 20:58

I love you lot

First I cried because of the hamster and Guad's DS1, then I cried with laughter at "sorting your shit out" and yes Franny I did at the fromage frais comment.

I will regain composure now.

Pink I insist you come to the meetup. Go to Windsor another time and just come for the day?

I tried to do press ups at the gym last night (I managed two and a half and gthen fell on my face) and now my mouse wrist is knackered.

Molly or anyone else with gardening knowledge, can I plant my veggies and pots out now?

I have pumpkins, courgettes, tomatoes, peppers and aubergines. can;t remember what I did last year.

FrayedKnot · 24/04/2009 21:04

I've just realized I may be commencing the slightly over-emotional week of my cycle.

And what was with the apricot kernels? I missed that I think.

Tatties · 24/04/2009 21:08

FK I am thankfully just past that bit but now entering the headachey bit

ahundredtimes · 24/04/2009 21:12

Fra, was a vicious slander, and if anyone ever told me I was frightened of milk I would so kick them in the face too.

Do you think sometimes a HUGE great big shout and a FIGHT is a good thing? Or not? I'd have thought not, but they were both in their beds chatting and all relaxed, and sort of relieved in that way you are after you've cried a lot. I don't geddit.

Anyhoo. Sorry.

I missed the apricot kernels too. I think I might suggest 'nobody must dress as a clown' at our meeting tomorrow. It's a darn good rule that one.

pointydog · 24/04/2009 21:26

I think having a big old shouty fight every now and then is good. When I was litte, I longed to big in a loud rollicking sort of family as a very very quiet one was rather tense. I'm sure many would disagree, though

TooTicky · 24/04/2009 21:29

I am frightenedof milk. I dreadhelping at playgroup because some child invariably spills some and I have to mop it up whilst trying not to look or breathe or touch it.
When I first started infant school,I had to stay in every playtime because I wouldn't drink my milk.I had to sit in the cloakroom next to the sickbowl. I used ti pat it and talk toit because I felt sorry for it.

pinkspottywellies · 24/04/2009 21:30

Re toaster: yes it gets crumby in the cupboard and the crumbs fall out onto the worktop and I have to keep cleaning them up. But DH is happy with his clear, tidy worktops. We have kettle, microwave and fruit bowl (and usually some bills and leaflets behind the fruit bowl but I try and stop that) and that's it.

Will rethink meet up. It's about £70 more to stay in a hotel for 3 nights in the week than the weekend But the place doesn't seem ever so easy to get to by train and someone said parking will be silly.

Guadalupe · 24/04/2009 21:31

OOOH, speaking of cutting butterflies. I was looking at a funny swirly patterned picture in the junk shop today. It had a butterfly in the middle and when I looked closer all the funny swirly patterns were made up of butterfly wings. Ew. How horrible is that?

I bought dh a map instead. It is a map of the journey of St Paul over the med sea. 1829. The colours are really nice. I like maps. It's our anniversary tomorrow and we are going out for dinner and having the tasting menu at a new place called The Lavender house. You get a lot of food, thnsg between courses and there better be a bloody good lot of cheese.

pointydog · 24/04/2009 21:33

cheese

Guadalupe · 24/04/2009 21:33

Pink - you DO NOT put your toaster away every time. LOLOL that is hilarious. You nutter.

100 - I think sibling fights are normal aren't they? Especially if they are close in age like that.

Guadalupe · 24/04/2009 21:34

Yes, cheese. Mmm. I have missed cheese on my ponty diet. I am going to blow the diet tomorrow.

pointydog · 24/04/2009 21:37

sound slike it will be a lovely night.

I had a fancy meal out with dh last autumn. Got dressed up, restaurant a little formal for us. The best bit was rolling along to the bus stop afterwards, stopping off to snog in teh shadows behind St Giles cathedral. Was great. Felt young

Guadalupe · 24/04/2009 21:46

I am looking forward to it. We were meant to be having a night away for the first time. Ds2 came with us on our wedding night and last year on our first anniversary and this year my mum was going to babysit but now she's stalking lions in Africa or something.

Weren't going to bother doing anything till yesterday but thought it would be nice to have a meal. Luckily there was space as a table of 12 cancelled just before I rang. They are normally packed. I am hungery just thinking of it, the menu sounds lovely.

I

mollyroger · 24/04/2009 21:48

do you have a greenhouse? It's is still a little early to plant out courgettes, toms, etc because of risk of frost. Aubergines really need a greenhouse.
But god yes, plant potatoes now. Do it now in fact., This very minute!

pinkspottywellies · 24/04/2009 21:56

Have a lovely time Guad

pointydog · 24/04/2009 21:59

whoa re you speaking to, molly?

Guadalupe · 24/04/2009 22:08

Just a little way down the thread, FK asked Molly a gardening question, Pointy.

You wouldn't have seen it, seen as you only read the last post.

FrayedKnot · 24/04/2009 22:10

Molly I grew aubergines outside last year, despite the apparent lack of summer

But yes, everything is going outside, and I did think it was still a little bit early.
