I know it's Sunday morning an d all that but I have been up all night and my symptoms are freaking me out.

I had piles when I was pregnant, they were painful and bled a little, but that was almost 3 years ago.

Last night I had nasty stomach cramps, diarrhoea and then massive amounts of bleeding from my bottom, including clots . I felt really weak and went to bed. I woke up at about 3am and more lower back pain and cramps, lots more blood loss and no poo, at this point I thought I was going to pass out.

This morning, more blood although less of it, lots of lower back pain, no poo.

I dont think I have external piles, and I was wondering if this sounds "normal" for piles?

Im sorry its so early but really could do with some advice. As you can imagine...a trip to the docs if its not necessary is the last thing I want to do.

MoreSpamThanGlam · 29/03/2009 22:43

Have you been yet - what did the gp say?

(i used to be choochoo btw but got caught up on a marmite thread elsewhere!)

marmitebabe · 30/03/2009 13:29

Well??

BlaDeBla · 30/03/2009 17:52

There are lots of things that can go wrong with a colon. The worst thing about it was being investigated while I was in agony.

It's not very dignified having your bum probed, but there again, giving birth isn't terribly dignified either! I will have another camera-view this year to check for cancer.

ThingOne · 30/03/2009 17:56

I'm so not cagey about this . I suppose I should give a TMI alert.

I didn't have much blood, and most of mine was explained by apparent post baby piles. What I did have was odd and frequent bowel movements, with visible mucous rather than just stool. I saw my GP exactly six months after my DS2 was born but sadly both he and I assumed it was a pelvic floor issue. He told me to come back in six weeks but by then I had developed what appeared to be a severe back pain and was in so much pain I was unable to think straight. It was quite big tumour. By the time it was found, when my DS2 was 14 months old it was about 8cm all round. As you can imagine, it's quite sore to sit on one of those, gulp.

Rectal cancer in women has a good rate for cures if caught in the early stages. It's easier to cut out a wide enough margin to include all of the tumour, even when it's large like mine. I don't know so much about the bowel side of colorectal cancer but it has pretty much the same treatment. You can have virtually no pain and few symptons when it's in the bowel. A friend of mine's cancer was very advanced by the time she collapsed and rushed to hospital and she had had no noticeable problems beforehand at all.

Oh, look, I know you are going to moan, but I went to college and was going to skip afternoon session and book emdoc by ringing for appt at 2. But got a call from childminder and dd(2) had a raging temp and so I collected her and in laws picked up other two, but am going to ring at 8am for emergency appointment in the morning.

I still have really severe lower back pain but no bleeding.

I am on a big fibre and water kick (my diet had been pretty shocking I have to admit). I KNOW I cannot put this off, and hopefully it will be absolutely nothing - probably will, but I owe it to my kids if not myself to get it looked at.

Yes, you really should get it checked out. My dad haemorrhaged from the back passage, passing clots and lots of blood. It was awful. He underwent immediate tests but he died very suddenly 5 weeks later. We got the results the day after his funeral and were told he had cancer.

I am sorry to put this on you, I don't want to frighten you but, on the other hand I do, IYSWIM, I want to frighten you enough to see your GP urgently. Any bleeding such as you experienced, especially when accompanied by pain such as you have should be investigated.

Make sure you ring your GP!! The eye's of MN are upon you .........

Is anyone else at home? Is there any way you could get seen tonight, if only to alleviate the pain?

A lot of tummy things are spectacularly exhausting. The sooner you get yourself seen to the sooner you can start to get better.

Yes, the eyes of MN are on you...

MoreSpamThanGlam · 30/03/2009 20:23

The thought of sitting waiting for several hours in the emdoc part of the hospital as opposed to a scheduled appt tomorrow sounds better

Plus nobody to watch kids anyway, right...really off to bed now. Will report back tomorrow!

(Sorry...but am giggling a little at the thought of you lot on MoreSpams Bum Watch)

Unless you have a nice tight good looking MALE bum I'd rather not keep too keen an eye on it...!!! BUT I really really really do think you should go see gp first thing in morning. please.....

God MoreSpam - please please go to the doc. It could be nothing major. But it could be. I know it is scary but better to go than to die of embarrassment.

PringlePopper reporting for duty on Operation MoreSpam Bum Watch

Get thee to the doc's today!

loopylou6 · 31/03/2009 08:23

yes i agree, get to the docs. i had something similar happen to me a while back, you will find the full glory of my hysterical posts if you search my name. anyway this is my story, i ate a big roast dinner one night, an hour later i started sweating and getting agonising stomach pains, a bit like labour pains, went the toilet about 3 times within a half hour period then felt ok, woke up the next morning with milder pains, went the toilet and there was blood, went another few times and the blood seemed to get worse with each time, although it was only a small amount, over the next few days i got alot of mucus, was a very scary time

marmitebabe · 31/03/2009 10:46

I've logged on in trepidation - well MSTG - have you been to the gp????????????????

Aren't we just a bunch of caring MN nags...??!!
