I know it's Sunday morning an d all that but I have been up all night and my symptoms are freaking me out.

I had piles when I was pregnant, they were painful and bled a little, but that was almost 3 years ago.

Last night I had nasty stomach cramps, diarrhoea and then massive amounts of bleeding from my bottom, including clots . I felt really weak and went to bed. I woke up at about 3am and more lower back pain and cramps, lots more blood loss and no poo, at this point I thought I was going to pass out.

This morning, more blood although less of it, lots of lower back pain, no poo.

I dont think I have external piles, and I was wondering if this sounds "normal" for piles?

Im sorry its so early but really could do with some advice. As you can imagine...a trip to the docs if its not necessary is the last thing I want to do.

Oh I'm so pleased to hear this is being investigated. And yes, please do keep us informed, like marmitebabe says, we are worried about you.

I'm thinking of you too

MoreSpamThanGlam · 16/04/2009 14:36

Good to hear you're feeling better. Is it going to be a long wait for the hospital? I don't know how busy gastro departments are.

PringlePopper · 16/04/2009 16:48

I'm pleased to hear you are feeling better too We bottom watchers won't rest though, not until you have the all clear!

ThingOne · 16/04/2009 22:33

Yup, glad you're feeling a bit better. Hope your appointment comes through soon.

marmitebabe · 21/04/2009 11:01

Have you had your appointment come through yet? How you feeling, hope you're not still bleeding?

BlaDeBla · 24/04/2009 15:54

Any news yet? Bumwatch is still on patrol!

marmitebabe · 26/04/2009 16:11

"BUM-ping" you.........

cakewench · 02/05/2009 16:04

Any update here? Has this moved to a new thread, or ..?

(bump)

loopylou6 · 02/05/2009 17:26

I think shes fine, she was on this thread the other day, so she must be fine

MoreSpamThanGlam · 26/05/2009 11:09

I lost this thread and was looking for ages, but being a total technophobe have just spent last 30 minutes and have now found it.

Errr...thanks for the vote of confidence loopylou6. My hair needs sorting so Im fine. Yeah. That works.

Am waiting for call from hospital as I type.

I was told I have a shadow on my lung just over a week ago and was told to go back to my gp and get them to investigate my bottom problem further, I did not hear from the hospital and just thought the doctor had thought it wasnt worth investigating. So am waiting for colonoscopy and a ct scan.

However - now it seems it is, and urgently.

Sorry I took so long.

Oh bloody hell. It sounds as though you are in the mill. What led them to giving you a chest X-ray?

I had all sorts of scans and X-rays and ultrasounds and needles a couple of years ago when I was diagnosed with DCIS. After a mastectomy I was back in hospital within a week being poked around, draining away, then eventually diagnosed with colitis.

I hope you have good consultants and a kind gp.

It took quite a while for the docs to rule out certain things, especially hospital aquired infection and things to do with taking vast quantities of anti biotics.

Can I hold your hand? (In an MN sort of way)

MadamAnt · 26/05/2009 11:33

I've been lurking on this thread with interest due to my own bottom problems, and just wanted to give you a sympathetic squeeze. What led to the chest x-ray? Not sure of it's any comfort, but my Mum has had numerous scans (CT, MRI, X-ray) which have shown shadows on her lungs, but they are no at all sinister...probably due to old scar tissue from chest infections (of which she has no recollection). Just wanted you to know that "shadow on the lung" can sound scary, but be harmless.

I've just got back from seeing a gastroenterologist about my own probs (loose poo / diarrhoea plus bleeding for the last 2-3 months). Can't do much in the way of investigation as I'm 24 weeks pg, but he thinks it might be a flare up of Crohn's disease (I had one flare up before about 10 years ago). I'm kind of freaked out as the symptoms are nothing like they were then, but he seems sure that it's nothing "worse" than Crohn's disease.

MoreSpamThanGlam · 26/05/2009 11:48

Firstly - plonketyplonk - asking if you can hold my hand, well, it made me cry a little bit.

Ok - deep breath!

I have been having chest pains and palpitations for a while (erm...about the same time as the bottom problems actually). So I was sent to heart clinic to just confirm that it was probably panic attacks (which I really thought it would be), anyway my heart is brilliant but the shadow is around the heart area. Im known for having chest infections so I know it could well be that, but whilst I was there they asked if I hadf any lumps on my breasts of a change in bowel habits/any bowel problems. I thought it was odd but told them I do have a problem but blood test was fine and I had not heard from hospital so assumed it was ok.

Anyway I was told to go straight back to GP to have bottom checked properly, which I did. I dont have piles and so GP said I need to see gastro-enterologist (sp?). I have an appointment now for 7pm tomorrow night. He is also a general physician and might suggest the CT scan too....

Madam - have you thought about getting another opinion? Im not suprised you are a little freaked out...and pg too. Can I send you a virtual hand hold too?

Errr...thanks for the vote of confidence loopylou6. My hair needs sorting so Im fine. Yeah. That works. MoreSpamThanGlam, i wasnt being horrible, my comment all those weeks ago was meant in the sense that you are still posting on MN so you are not in hospital or anything like that.

whomovedmychocolate · 26/05/2009 20:05

Morespamthanglam - jeepers you've not had a restful bank holiday have you? Has your doctor told you which painkillers to avoid in case you have a bleeding issue? If you have fissures or are suspected of it you need to avoid ibuprofen and aspirin as well as any steroids you might be taking.

Hope it all turns out to be a 'splash in the pan'

ThingOne · 26/05/2009 20:54

Sorry to hear all this MoreSpam.

I've had some non-dodgy shadows on my lungs too.

Let us know how you get on.

MoreSpamThanGlam · 27/05/2009 12:39

Who moved - nothing been mentioned about pain killers at all. I had mentioned the pain in my chest a while back and was ignored by my GP as panic attacks, but they were so bad I was chucking a regular amount of asprin down every day...and ibuprofen because of lower back pain. Oh flippin heck.

On a brighter note, I have been really good on the water and fruit and veg front, plus lots of weetabix and the bleeding has subsided quite significantly, but my regular bowel habits (oh the shame of this discussion) have still not gone back to normal, in fact they are all over the place. Nothing for a few days then lots in one day, still lots of lower back pain. Sometimes hard, sometimes soft and sometimes errr loose.

Im coughing like a rattly old woman every day and it is productive and white-ish.

Im sure it will all be fine

I've had your thread on watch and followed your progress (I'm a frequent name changer though so may be under diff name!). When you were absent for so long I thought everything must be ok so I'm really gutted to hear that it might not be.

Still, I'm real glad you are getting the problems checked out and truly hope that there is nothing "seriously" wrong.

Please keep in touch (we are after all a safe forum here) and let us know how you are. I'd like to be another virtual hand holder please and I'm pretty good at virtual hugs too .

Take care of you

TimeForMe · 27/05/2009 13:28

I would like to do a bit of hand holding too (was PringlePopper) I've been on bottom watch for aaaaaaages!

Just to say I will be thinking of you and I hope all the tests come back clear of anything. Please let us know how you get on xx

MoreSpamThanGlam · 27/05/2009 14:56

I have to say again that I was waiting for a hospital appointment to come, and when one didnt show up I just assumed I was not deemed a priority, so really had nothing to report anyway, just more waiting and a bit more bleeding and knackeredness.

It didnt help that the threads Im on bit didnt show ANY threads I was on and a search didnt show trhis thread either...I had to really track it down.

Im leaving here in a bit to collect my 2 year old and sort out all the kids, then on the train to see a man with a a glove and a tube-o-lube!

OP posts:
Plonketyplonk · 27/05/2009 15:10

I hope your appointment goes well. LOL @ tube-o-lube! Yum yum. I had some piles injected about a year ago which was pretty unpleasant.

whomovedmychocolate · 27/05/2009 20:11

Hmm. It could be that your long term use of NSAIDs has caused the bleeding - ask your consultant! Hope you are well. Looking forward to your update

MoreSpamThanGlam · 27/05/2009 22:26

Well my consultant was LOVELY! Think of the surgeon on Holby City...he is a bit older, black and very nicely spoken. Well - he was just like him. Just lovely. Totally put me at ease.

I told him everything and I am scheduled for a colonoscopy and endoscopy on Monday 8th June at 11am. I had an xray and would have had bloods done too but they had just closed, so going on Friday for those.

He said he is going to look at xray and results from scopes and ecided if ct scan is necessary.

He told me not to worry and it would all get sorted. He gave me his card and email address and told me to email him any questions I had.

Phew. Thats that then.

Whomoved...erm...NSAIDS? Is that another way of saying pain killers? Im going to try and lay off of them now, I didnt mention them.
