For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I am pleased I have done seedy things because my next project is...

a cake with a pirates treasure map on it

Does anyone know if you can buy edible paint?

Hello stuffit

TooTLooP · 15/03/2009 19:04

Yes you can get edible paint. The prices are scary though.

My older three have made a fire in the garden and are cooking their own dinner. I am not supervising. I like to think that I am encouraging their independence rather than parenting in a lax and lazy fashion. Anyway, dd2 is in her pyjamas.

stuffitllama · 15/03/2009 19:14

Tootloop nice name

yes it's called benign neglect

FK yes, you can. I've painted cakes, nothing like a pirate map though. I did Charmander who I think is the middle stage of an evolving Pokemon.

You smash it up and elbow everyone else out of the way and stuff your face with sweets as quick as poss.

Guadalupe · 15/03/2009 19:52

Dd had a pinata cake once and I put a blue ribbon round a large hammer next to it.

Other parents looked a little alarmed for some reason.

FrannyandZooey · 15/03/2009 19:54

those spanish things made of paper avi
you know you fill them with crap sweets and then bash them with a stick
seems to be the party game du jour

It was a pita to make, you had to temper choc round the inside of a bowl and try and slide this out over a hollowed out treat stuffed cake. I swore. A lot.

FrayedKnot · 15/03/2009 20:09

TooT you could get them to set up a tent, give them one of those Boys Own type manuals, and they can camp out there until November. It would be great fun, wouldn;t it?

You could keep them supplied with tins of beans and bread and stuff.

Hmm..may have to dash to extortionate sugar craft shop then and investigate This is because I can;t make cakes shaped like pirate ships. So I thought, make a basic square cake, and then paint a picture on the top

Pinatas are ruddy expensive things too.

We are planning to hide small sweets in balloons and giving the children cocktail sticks

Guadalupe · 15/03/2009 20:12

Pirate ship cake was quite easy compared to pinata, just involved a lot of cutting sponge, smother the lot in butter icing and decorate. Curly wurlys for side of ship, polos for portholes etc. We stuck the candles out of the side like cannons, looked great.

Guadalupe · 15/03/2009 20:13

also playmobil people were good, and flags on cocktail sticks

TooTLooP · 15/03/2009 20:20

FK, I once did a treasure chest with chocolate coins spilling out.

They would love to sleep out...I'm just not quite sure about it...

Guad, I think I remember you swearing over that one.

Guadalupe · 15/03/2009 20:22

Do you? Gosh, you have a god memory, that was years ago.

TooTLooP · 15/03/2009 20:23

Years? Really? I think I remember anyway. It was something v fiddly you were swearing over.

Guadalupe · 15/03/2009 20:26

yes, would have been just over two years ago actually. In fact, I do remember talking about it because I put up photos of a fairy castle from the year before. Hadn't been here long.

TooTLooP · 15/03/2009 20:27

Oh yes, I do remember then. I have a strangely selective memory, just remember the really vital stuff...

FrayedKnot · 15/03/2009 20:31

I think camping out would be fine, TooT, wouldn;t it?

at pinata cake

I know my limits

TooTLooP · 15/03/2009 20:36

There is a wee gap betwixt house and garden FK - not large, but it makes a difference, in my mind at least.

Boco · 15/03/2009 20:37

I've had 10/10 and an hour of swimming today. Am v. impressed with myself. I should have a sticker. I'm all shoulder achey in a good way.

SenorToucan · 15/03/2009 20:38

where is a hundredtimes?

TooTLooP · 15/03/2009 20:40

Oh, I have scrambled from a horse's ear to its hoof and back again. Beat that Boco

TigerFeet · 15/03/2009 20:41

We had a pinata at dd's last party. It fell apart at the first swing. It was a mahoosive (and expensive) anticlimax.

Apple
Grapes
Apple juice
erm... some walking.

I attempted to cut back on my MS meds this week with unpleasant consequences. I'm 14 weeks now ffs. Time to BLOOM goddamit [green][tired]

TooTLooP · 15/03/2009 20:42

Oh you poor green tiger

Boco · 15/03/2009 20:43

What does that mean Toot? Why are you scrambling up horses?

Toucan, there's no way of knowing.
