For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

ahundredtimes · 24/03/2009 20:58

Wow, you really hated me telling you what to do didn't you?

erm, erm, can't answer your question, really. Not sure what to say. Why write about something dark or horrid do you mean? Or why that murder? Or why that book? Really difficult to answer, will think about it, am filling hot water bottles at the mo.

FrannyandZooey · 24/03/2009 21:01

Lol at 'that's quite a mad question Franny'. I thought you meant the sewing too. I like the idea of Anne having always been fascinated by sewing up bellies.

Should I send dd1 to school tomorrow? She's well enough to NAG and MOAN and tell me that dinner was like being forced to eat slug sick, and to make craft, but then falls asleep and coughs and is grey with pink eyes and a runny nose.

Did I tell you that dd2 called me a grubby half-wit? She swears she learnt it from Bernard Cribbins on her Syvanian family dvd, but i've sat through that and at no point does eh say grubby half wit.

FrannyandZooey · 24/03/2009 21:02

And no, dd1 shouldn't go. Sory.

littlerach · 24/03/2009 21:20

at littleBoco.

No, don't send her, she'll be poorly again then.

Boco · 24/03/2009 22:01

Dammit. I know it sounds heartless, I want her to get better, but it's so hard to get any work done with dd standing by my elbow saying 'I'm bored, what can I do? Mummy? Mummy? Mummy I'm really bored, mummy, what shall I do? Mummy? for 9 hours!!

TooTicky · 24/03/2009 22:11

Stick her on a train Boco. We don't have much on tomorrow.

TooTicky · 24/03/2009 22:12

Stick her on a train Boco. We don't have much on tomorrow.

TooTicky · 24/03/2009 22:15

Well, it would probably take three trains to get from there to here.

SuperBunny · 24/03/2009 23:04

Ugh, what a situation, Franny. I think calling police community person was a good plan. What about SS? I don't mean report him/ his family but they might be aware of something or maybe they should be aware of him. Perhaps that is a bit extreme but I worked with children who went from doing petty stuff like that to quite serious stuff because no-one ever intervened. Not that it is your responsibility but... I dunno. I think I'd have words, like ahundred said. And sorry but roffle at home improving sticks in pots.

Bernard Cribbins has a lot to answer for, it seems.

Oh, FK - I could have sworn you mentioned the gym yesterday but well done for going last Thursday

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 25/03/2009 08:09

Forgot to list yesterday

blueberries
banana
dried fruit
strawberries (they were shite)
coleslaw
humous
carrots
cauliflower
peppers
onion
mushrooms

I'm not sure exactly what I would do in your situation Franny, but I would do or say something. I was thinking much along the lines of SB about the petty things escalating. When I now see people from my school years who were little shites, that has continued into adulthood. Maybe things would be different for them now if the problems were adressed at the time?

FrannyandZooey · 25/03/2009 08:23

i agree with everyone but don't know whether the intervention should be me phoning police and everyone coming down hard on him, or a kind of love bomb anne of green gables type thing where i take him in and cook scones for him in my pinny

the eternal middle class liberal dilemma

and yes HARRUMPH at home improving sticks
they do look really shite
but we have high hopes
