For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

stuffitllama · 23/03/2009 20:51

Toot, am only being a nag. How can you stand running? It's so dull. Maybe my brain is too empty for running but I used to think -- what am I going to think about for the next hour? I wonder what people do think about?

stuffitllama · 23/03/2009 20:52

stuffitllama · 23/03/2009 20:52

TooTicky · 23/03/2009 20:53

Oh god, I couldn't run for an hour! I am a novvis.
I walk lots anyway. Always plenty to look at/think about.
My brain never stops, except when it swirls, and then it's not actually dull.

How's things BBB?

FrayedKnot · 23/03/2009 21:06

I go to the gym precisely to have thinking time. But sometimes after a while my brain stops thinking and just kind of empties in a contented sort of way.

Blueberries
Kiwis
Satsuma
Veg soup
Red cabbage
Peas

BBBee · 23/03/2009 21:09

hello Bbbee, good ot see you

Go to Bed TooT

I always fancied going to Boarding school. I blame Enid Blyton and Cahlet School lady (can't remember her name).

dd1 is reading malory Towers at the mo.

littlerach · 23/03/2009 21:13

Shit, sorry for crapper typing than usual, am balancing laptop on knee and keeps slippong.

CHALEt school lady.

Anyway, off to see dh for a while

TooTicky · 23/03/2009 21:14

I am in bed. With a slippery laptop

stuffitllama · 23/03/2009 21:16

night all
thanks for patience
Pink tomorrow please tell me what you think about when you run

night x

TooTicky · 23/03/2009 21:17

Pink, I am doing running because...well...it will be a good achievement thing, and fitness thing, and sometimes I just want to run, So it would be better if I could do it without spluttering and collapsing.

ahundredtimes · 23/03/2009 21:19

Boarding school depends on the child, am absolutely sure of it. If they have good social skills already, then they tend to have a good time ime, if they don't then they sink like stones and have an awful time. That's what I think. Of mine for instance, I think ds1 would die a thousand deaths, but dd would have a ball.

Think all TF's points are good.

I think you should all have a family conference. If someone doesn't want to go, I don't think they should be made to tbh. Don't be embarrassed about staff, it's nothing like living here in UK, it's different, that's why it is interesting. Unnerving for you though.

ds1 does sound like a candidate though, if he agrees? Though TF's everyone do the same, is good too.

Hmm. I have to go, but am going to think about it all.

HELLO BEE. we miss you.

womblingalong · 23/03/2009 21:20

Oh Stuffit, I can't see your pics.

I am glad you have shared a few things about life over there, I think that it is better to express it occasionally than let it all build up to come out in a way you didn't intend.

TooT, how is the running going, I feel like I want to collapse in a heap after this morning's run, incidentally, all I think about when I run is: "when will it be over/stop"

1 hour Yoga
Pittas with Salad, homemade shish kebabs and
Carrot & cucumber raita
Loads of OJ
