For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Lots of love to the EvenLittlerRaches from dd1 too

TooTicky · 21/03/2009 20:55

But Lemur, we need to see you tooo...

Guadalupe · 21/03/2009 21:05

Ah, lovely mini lemur.

I had my ears pierced when I was nine. I told dd she had to be 16.

Actually, on second glance, Toot, I think you might have had one sneaky jaffa too many. No food for three weeks.

FrayedKnot · 21/03/2009 21:07

Hello

The cake is no more... but it was a roaring success...and so easy. Sponge and chocolate buttercream.

I say go for the volcano, Franny. Choc buttercream can hide a multitude of uneven stuff underneath

The party was good.....

DS had the most bizzare present, from my grandmother, who is 95, a goat hand puppet that sings "The Lonely Goatherd" from the Sound of Music

He absolutely adores it

TooT like the hair

Franny the cross on your driveway made me laugh. The neighbours will get all sorts of strange ideas

I have had 3 portions of f&v today and 4 portions of cake.

SuperBunny · 21/03/2009 21:31

Fab gift, FK. The goat sounds cool! Am glad the cake went well.

FrayedKnot · 21/03/2009 21:49

The saddest thing, possibly, about the goat, was that not only did I know all the lyrics, but I also knew the exact intonation of the canned Julie Andrews voice when the goat does the yodelling.

TooTicky · 21/03/2009 21:56

The goat sounds like great fun...in short bursts...

Congrats on the cake. It is such an anticlimax when it gets eaten so quickly, isn't it?

Guad, jaffa cakes contain battery eggs

SuperBunny · 21/03/2009 22:01

Ooooo, Jaffa Cakes. MMMMMmmmmm

Guadalupe · 21/03/2009 22:06

Don't be silly, Toot, they grow on the jaffa tree.

FrannyandZooey · 21/03/2009 22:07

oooh and aaah at baby Lemur's cute expressions
how fab he is

Toot, I'm curious - do your children wear vegan shoes?

TooTicky · 21/03/2009 22:25

Um..no. And neither do I atm. Tis a matter of balancing animal principles with environmental principles and budget. In all things, not just footwear, I try to make the best decisions I can. I am having to shave some of my principles a little.

SuperBunny · 21/03/2009 22:30

Ok, just wondered, didn't mean to be nosey. I agree, much better (both environmentally & financially) to reuse what you already have. It would be very expensive to keep 4 children in vegan shoes. It's expensive enough just keeping them in shoes.

TooTicky · 21/03/2009 22:41

S'okay, you didn't sound nosey.
Yes, to keep them in breathable vegan footwear would cost a fortune.
Ds2 is growing nicely into ds1's old ones atm.

That's good. DS has outgrown his shoes - they have holes in - but he is too small for the 3 pairs we were given. So, I can't decide if I have to buy him a new pair that will fit him for a few weeks or if I can keep him in his holey ones til the huge ones are less huge...

TooTicky · 21/03/2009 22:48

at self

TooTicky · 21/03/2009 22:50

holey ones fine if the weather is good. Spring is when they grow anyway.

stuffitllama · 22/03/2009 05:09

happy mothers day SB

happy mothers day everyone

no happy mothers day

aha.. happy mothers day to all sensible people

also Attila whereever you are, if you are lurking, I hope you have a good day x

stuffitllama · 22/03/2009 05:16

Baby lemur is very tremendous looking! Does he laugh a lot? He looks like he has fun all day long.

I love the hair, it is a very confidence giving style do you agree Toot? It's sultry. Everyone is right you are a skinny minny and I really don't think you actually have a bottom. Your hair is very pretty though despite lack of bottom.

Is vegan footwear made of vegetable matter? how does that work?

it was a snake but a teeny tiny one.. by the time the story reaches school tomorrow it will be a giant python which dh had to wrestle back into the toilet and get the children to sit on the lid.

Chinese cabbage and satsuma. The children gave me roses, xanths and gladis and dd made me a cup of tea. Dh football team lost so he is struggling to generate smiles this morning. I'm going to bake today. Scones and a cake. If it sinks and it will I'll do the filling with butter cream thing.

SuperBunny · 22/03/2009 05:19

Yes, happy mothers day everyone!

My babysitting was ok - the 4 page document had become 7 pages by the time I arrived but all was ok and the girl was in bed by 9:30.

I read The Book tonight - the whole thing in 1 sitting! V good. But I did notice lack of F&V in there - not even a sneaky mango.

SuperBunny · 22/03/2009 05:23

Wrestling a Giant Python is much more manly than flushing a baby snake down the loo. Def go with that.

TooTicky · 22/03/2009 06:23

Thanks for all hair comments

Confidence giving, yes, I think so. I hope so.

Love the fruity bouquet.

Glad the babysitting was okay SB and that you got reading time.

Vegan shoes can be made of all sorts...some are plasticky and sweaty but a lot are breathable and good (if expensive). But then I suppose lots of non-vegan shoes are expensive too.
I have had some lovely hemp ones.
You can also get lovely trainers made fom 100% recycled materials.
