For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I have had great fun making a bottle of medicine for ds to be George in George';s marvellous medicine...We mixed blue and green and red food colouring with vegetable oil and bubble bath and glitter (And sealed the top, natch!) and it looks EVIL!!

Sorry for wobbles last night.Had cottgae pie (carrots, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes) and kale.

Need to decrap hose as mother is coming followed by 2 children for a sleepover.

mollyroger · 06/03/2009 08:53

Toot, many many thanks for your patience and widsom last night. It really helped to just splurge it out to someone. I really don't think it is AS at all, but I do think he has some sort of emotional (as opposed to behavioural) problem. Feel calmer.

littlerach · 06/03/2009 15:59

mollyroger · 06/03/2009 16:35

Can fit in 3 for dinner....!

pinkspottywellies · 06/03/2009 18:40

Not catching up cause I'm going to take up dd's milk in a sec and go to bed! But I took both children out today on my own We went to the library for storytime, to a friend's house and to Tesco our local independent grocer and it was all fine. Nice, in fact!!

I'm shattered now and not looking forward to having 2 every day, forever. But it's doable

Tomato, cuc, peppers. 1 portion
Mushy peas.
Juice
Grapes.

Oh dear. It would appear I can look after 2 children but not meet my target f&v consumption in the same day

Night all!

Boco · 06/03/2009 18:43

well done Pink. Those early days especially daunting, but it does get easier. And now having 2 is easier than 1 think, because they play together so well. They're currently playing bizarre made up versions of board games.

mollyroger · 06/03/2009 18:48

pink, right now, I'd concentrate on eating anything!
You are doing fabulously....

FrannyandZooey · 06/03/2009 19:14

pink it all sounds marvellous but if you DO want to eat more f+v, dp used to cut up a fruit salad for me in the evening, to eat the next day for breakfast / snacks
i know it isn't as nice as fresh but it was helpful
(and kind of necessary if like most people you get very bunged up post partum)

Hello

V. quiet here today. Hope everyone is OK.

Pink you deserve a super sticker for today, please award yourself one

I struggle with fruit because I don;t have much time to prepare fresh fruit.

For a quick fix, I would go for dried fruit (had some lovely black cherries from Sainsbo's the other day), and frozen blueberries are great. You can defrost a bag and keep them in a bowl in the fridge for when you get a moment.

Not sure I've much to report, f&v average.

Partly because DH cooked supper and only did 1 veg whereas I would have done 3. But it is nice when someone else does the cooking once in a while. Will have to stuff some fruit later.

I have a parsnip and turnip mountain so tomorrow I will mostly be making soup.

FrayedKnot · 06/03/2009 22:03

Ooh Franny - is he coming to your house?

I didn;t realize you had actualy made contact, I thought he was being evasive.

Boco · 06/03/2009 22:05

It's very quiet here today!

Good luck with ex, Franny. Are you going to be direct and find out what it's all about?

well i pestered him and he was v apologetic and agreed to meet
i said shall i come just me and have a civilised but brief lunch or come with children and have a long chaotic lunch
he said he didn't care
so we are all going, i think - will just be casual this time i think and then perhaps if i see him on my own next time i will raise it
or maybe not, i don't know
anyway
it will be good to see him and ds1 is v excited as he loves him and has no idea why he hasn't seen him for ages!

hello

haven't checked in for a while - v. exciting about your book 100 - mine hasn't come yet but am in anticipation.

i have been on here more lately because i had to leave my job (can't remember if i bored you with the details, but there were details - mainly about me being great)

I have now found a new job which is lovely and i am happy, but on the whole less time for things like precious 10/10ing. just wanted to say in case you thought i was sulking!

oh and since the intial focus thing i have lost 9lbs.

will check in every now and then - has been nice being up to speed and back with you all - esp. during these exciting times.

love

bee

It's a mystery isn't it Avi - dp also a useful type, cooks and does things with dds, and yet it's always tidier and more efficient and easier doing it on my own.

Bbbee so glad the job is good and you're happy there, that's so important isn't it, must be a relief. Hope you still manage to keep up your visits here, well done on 9lbs that's a massive amount! I did lose half a stone recently but it's crept back up again. Also my scales say different things depending on which bit of wonky floor you put them on, so I can be anywhere between 9 and 10 stone. I think I'm in the middle.

My 100 book arrived at last! Isn't it pretty! I've read the first 3 pages and sighed happily and stared at it a lot, and passed it round and everyone weighed it in their hands and passed it back looking puzzled. Hooray hooray.

FrannyandZooey · 07/03/2009 10:17

100's book is v strokable
i didn't read any last night as was having a brain meltdown but it is so nice to have a really good book on the go, isn't it?

morning all
Bee that is quite focused! I am teetering on the edge of trying the full eczema breastfed diet which would mean cutting out eggs, soya and wheat
i think that would hoff a bit of flab off me apart from anything else
i read a book on eczema which has completely confused me but the good thing is it does spell out simply how to exclude foods and suggests 2 weeks initially for breastfeeding
i reckon i could manage that

mollyroger · 07/03/2009 10:22

anyone here know anything about cutiing diary and/or gluten out of a child's diet because of behavioural issue?

I will start a thread in allergies but though I'd ask here first.

Ds (the volcanic one) does show some symptoms of possible lactose-intolerance (ie always snotty, bad breath, prone to ear-aches, snores! And adores all things dairy... It's going to be a nightmare but I think I need to explore possibilities.

Franny, good luck with family-phobic friend. I have a girl friend like this. She bnever wnated kids but is terribly good with them. And steadfastesdly ignores the fact I have them.....

BBBEEE - good for you on new job. Onwards and Upwards mate! x

more book

I had salad last night.

Guadalupe · 07/03/2009 10:28

Wow, Bbee, 9lbs, that's amazing. Focus wasn't enough for me, I need the hard cold public shame of the weigh-in! Good luck with your new job. Of course you are great.

Where is my bleeding book, that's what I want to know? I have just finished one and am having a reading spell so will have to start another if it's not here today.

Yesterday was a good veg day so I must list it.

Mango
raspberries
blueberries
avocado [half, is that a portion]
lettuce
tomato
pepper
juice
chickpeas [not quite a portion]
broccoli
mushrooms
sugar snaps
carrot

Today, one passion fruit. I must have point free soup for lunch as people are coming from London to dinner. They don't know they are having things from the weightwatchers recipe book. I will throw in a potato dauphinoise and hope that appeases. This works as long as it doesn't appease me of course.

I can do up a size 12. YAY. Though, they are a little snug about the rear for decency and I won't mention the extremity of an animal with two humps but give me another week.

Guadalupe · 07/03/2009 10:30

MolLy - I know a child in ds1's class who is statemented doesn't eat wheat or dairy, and I think it is connected to the special needs but I don't know any details. Would you like me to ask?
