For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Boco did it wrong. Yup, she did.

Guadalupe · 03/03/2009 21:54

I don't like the sound of it I must say.

pointydog · 03/03/2009 21:57

jamie says that you won't like the sound of it. He is so intuitive. But he tells you how to do it properly and when you do it properly it works. What a guy

I love the tikka salmon on naan with cucumber yoghurt. Must have cooked that ten times by now.

I won't be adding potato to pasta just yet, not while am on a roll.

it is very italian

where is franca?

Guadalupe · 03/03/2009 22:06

Saw her something earlier, the diet thread I think.

My MIL used to serve leftover spaghetti with mashed potato. Boak.

Guadalupe · 03/03/2009 22:08

ON something

I suppose tinned spaghetti on toast is carb on carb isn't it. We used to eat a lot of that when I was little.

Boco · 03/03/2009 22:13

No no, I did use a peeler, i peeled it finely, but after 2 minutes it was a bit crunchy, and after 3 minutes it was starchy gunk - there was NO way to get it right. I am still a bit upset about it tbh. The gagging and crying bad for my confidence as a cook. But have loved all the rest of Jamies things - the pea and mint was good!

FrayedKnot · 03/03/2009 22:21

Jamie Oliver once asked me how to adjust his chair

Guad that is pretty fabulous

I think I threw all my WW stuff away years ago. Damn.

Good luck TooTlet. I hope you are in bed by now.

The name is perfect pink

Molly I'm guessing most of DS1's upset-ness is about his friends, isn;t it? What grounds would you appeal on? That Shiny is nearer? Won;t they say "well you can go to hell Hole", then?

Sorry, I don;t know how these things work at all. How stressful for you all.

Have done yoga and about 20 mins of weights. It would have been more but I had to help a bloke get out of a parking space because someone had parked ridiculously close to him and he was stuck. I think he was a bit embarassed and kept saying it's so nice of you to do this when it's such awful weather. And then he would crunch his gears. He was rather nice

FrannyandZooey · 03/03/2009 22:21

how DO you adjust jamie oliver's chair? we need to know

FrayedKnot · 03/03/2009 22:27

I'm not actually sure that he was asking ME, exactly - I was standing waiting for him to sign a book (for my sister obviously) and he said "I need to adjust this chair, how do I do it?". I just kind of simpered in that way you do when you weren;t expecting to engage in conversation with a proper famous person, and then he adjusted his chair and signed my book.

Boco · 03/03/2009 22:30

You blew it FK. You could have told him that the only way the chair could be adjusted would be for you to straddle him and jiggle. Ah well.

pointydog · 03/03/2009 22:31

I was thinking you were an occupational therapist or something, fary

TooTicky · 03/03/2009 22:32

Ds1 has gastro enteritis. I have just heard a most ominous noise from his bottom. He is sleeping poor lamb. Oh, actually, perhaps this is the moment to bottle a sample

TooTicky · 03/03/2009 22:32

Boco

FrayedKnot · 03/03/2009 22:38

On a stage in the middle of the NEC

Mind you most people were so pissed from the wine tasting area they probably wouldn;t have noticed.

Oh dear TooT... I hope it sounded more omninous than it actually was...

TooTicky · 03/03/2009 22:41

I haven't dared look. I should do it now

Quattrocento · 03/03/2009 22:43

I think the title should be

"there's a brat in the kitchen, what yam I going to do?"

Because carrot just doesn't scan

pointydog · 03/03/2009 22:55

there's a root (veg) in the kitchen what yam i gonna do

there's another non-scanner

Quattrocento · 03/03/2009 23:22

There are no vegetables or fruit for that matter of one syllable ending in "at". There just aren't. I think the yam is the only way to go. Mind you, there is a lot to be done with the song title ...

"there's a cat in the kitchen ..." (true here)

"there's some tat in the kitchen ..." (more true)

SuperBunny · 04/03/2009 01:39

Good owl Avi. And another nice peek at Mr Avi.

Guad, how old is DS2? Our music class is run by a lovely woman who says that some children just need to run and that is how they learn and, unless they are being dangerous, she doesn't care.

Boco, how scary. I think Merlin is a great name. I hope he is ok.

Glad you got 3rd choice and not worse, Molly. Sorry it wasn't better news and that DS is not pleased.

Good luck TooTlet tomorrow.

Quattro, if you are going to come in here and complain about the title, at least list some F & V or lie like the rest of us

I want a good book group. My last one was lovely - we would drink tea and eat cake and put the workd to rights. It was pre DS. The one I could join now is a daytime one with a babysitter where people go and eat healthy snacks and discuss the book. Who wants to do that?

Leaves
Olives
apple
juice
beans
chili
other salady stuff

Six maybe, I dunno.

SuperBunny · 04/03/2009 05:08

I see that Molly has outed herself as a Crocs wearer.

Where do the rest of you stand on this? I have always been a staunch anti-crocist (ditto Birkies) despite gardening, walking, going to the beach, paddling in the lake etc, but do occasionally find myself looking enviously at DS's crocs. Then I remind myself that he is 3 and I am not and I get a grip. Are they really not that bad on Adults?

TooTicky · 04/03/2009 06:36

I don't fancy crocs for me but the children like them.

So will 100x's book be in actual shops today? Or tomorrow? I need to know.

TooTicky · 04/03/2009 07:47

I do Really Actually need to know. Will it be in the big W today or should I phone a Local Independent Bookshop this morning and ask them to get it for tomorrow?
