Not long now frumpy! Soon will be all over.
Glad to hear you are busy Bella and that everyone is working to get these tests done while there is public momentum and a high profile on this topic.
I am literally counting the days with trepidation but will not buckle and cancel (I hope!)

I have mine every year due to having had abnormal cells about 5 years ago. I just had my smear and got a letter saying they didn't take an adequate sample so I need to go back and have another - it's booked for Friday the 13th! Unlucky for some!

frumpygrumpy · 28/02/2009 19:46

supersalstrawberry, get your ass back here young laydee!!!!!!! You are just who we are targetting!!!!! And eyeballs can do it..........

Lemontart, was it a good thing then? Not to be up the duff?

OP posts:
frumpygrumpy · 28/02/2009 19:47

Aw frumpy, shame and sympathies at the red jeans. We've all been there. (not shame at the red jeans, shame you have to reschedule...)

Never mind, you can veet yourself to perfection and the resulting blotchiness has time to settle down

Sal, honestly, it's easy. I just lay there thinking to myself, 'ha, I'm glad I'm not looking at what you're looking at, nursey woman with your hand up my fanjo'

Am I helping or not? I am, after all, the smear mascot

I think you can have it done anywhere. I always get sent a whole list of local clinics etc where I can just drop in and have it done. Unfortunately, I've always hidden lost the sheet but frumpy started nagging this time so...

BellaNoir · 28/02/2009 20:51

supersal yes your FPC should be able to do a cervical screening test. They won't have all your details though when filling in the request form, so be sure to check they've got info such as:
DOB, address, GP details, LMP and if you've ever had any abnormal tests or treatment. This is especially if you've lived in more than one area. Oh and if you know your NHS number that's incredibly helpful, because the FPC probably won't have it.
All of the above is very helpful to us in the lab. We have to turn detective sometimes to work out some peoples' screening histories I can tell you. Medical notes seem to take ages to come through!

Am having that glass of wine, frumpy!
Apparently there were samples covering every available surface last thing yesterday, there's so many. The couriers are having prolems fitting them all into their transport cases!

Well done everyone!

singyswife · 28/02/2009 21:11

Is it every 3 years, I had one done Aug 07, am I okay???

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/02/2009 21:23

yep,every three years

singyswife · 28/02/2009 21:32

So I am fine for just now then?? Do you all think that every 3 years is enough. I mean god forbid if we should have cancerous cells how long would it go un-noticed?? Jade was lucky they picked hers up on a routine smear but what would have happened if they hadnt. Sorry to be so pesamistic but these actually ARE the things that keep me awake at night.

Lemontart · 28/02/2009 22:04

y would have been fine, frumpy, but happy that it turned out this way too Definitely the best outcome overall!
