For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Franny, problems can't really be compared. Yours may not be on the scale of some of the others, but you seem to have endured an extended series of concerns that have a very draining effect. IMO in those circumstances, letting off steam is a valuable coping strategy. Whereas often, in a the case of a big problem we often draw ourselves in, in order to cope.

I know that is how I have felt recently....

So (in your words), blether away, I am sure no-one minds (I know I don't) and maybe somewhere along the line, someone may actually help with a solution or just help by 'listening'.

Shall we sell our bodies then Molly...what is the going rate..?

Whilst it would be awful to have been through so much as a diagnosis mistake, in some ways I just hope it is TF, rather than anythingseriously untoward...{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}

NOW! NOW! NOW!.....

Have slept 4 hours again today.

Have we got a mardy, stroppy, foot stamping, hissy fit emoticon?

Bah!

Actually, fairly OK in the brain department at the mo, so that is something

SuperBunny · 19/02/2009 19:02

oh Boco, what a shock. Although I expect it will be somewhat of a relief to know what is making DD so unwell and what can be done to help her. I know several people with CF and you really wouldn't know.

Franny, poor you. I have days where everything is suddenly overwhelming and I feel pushed to the limit and I only have 1 DC. My apartment is a constant mess, despite continuous cleaning. Tis very disheartening. And then there's DS who, quite rightly, wants attention. My attention. And I want to do mumsnet in peace

TF, what a strange situation. I hope DH is ok. I don't understand how 'something muscular' can be mistaken for blood clots but then I am not a doctor.

I like 'There's a carrot in my kitchen what am I gonna do?"

I just ate peanut butter and with every bit was reminded more and more that I really dislike it. I couldn't finish it because it was making me wretch. DS kindly spat out a piece of chewed up tangerine and said, "Would you like this?"

FrayedKnot · 19/02/2009 19:05

Although my reaction was also Tiger if they are discharging him that's good, isn;t it? And perhaps they were just being particulalrly cautious, which would be good as well I suppose. Apart from worrying you all silly

Franny soemtimes also cumulative effect of things and lack of a good nights sleep make problems swell up like you have doused them with Alice in Wonderland "drink me" potion.

There is a tipping point which I think we all reach sometimes.

It s great that the boys were OK in the creche, though...at least you know you can have that half hour if you need it

TF DS is allowed to do certain things on the home computer - we have got a free trial going for "Education City" at the moment, but I am not keen for him to be getting into anything like playstation games. And I object to paying for childcare and then finding out he's being playing computer games tbh.

I think I might try to sort a babysitter type arrangement, for the summer holidays.

FrayedKnot · 19/02/2009 19:09

I am off to the gym.

Where's pink today?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/02/2009 19:15

I heart peanut butter, crunchy peanut butter.

Franny - Yes I did treat myself aswell. I took a tablet, used the cream on my nipps and pretty much cut out yeast for a couple of weeks. I also tried to keep cool as much as possible as yeast infections love warm moist environments, and I don't know about you but I can get hot and sweaty whilst generally running around getting things done and especially whilst cuddling up ds for a feed. I should also imagine a sling makes you warm, no?

Remember that sleep deprivation is a wicked, wicked thing. On the whole you can cope with a whole load of shit coming your way and all you need is the smallest thing to go wrong for everything to become too much.

For example if ds is having a bit of a grumpy day and I can't seem to do anything right and the house looks like a shithole, on the whole I can pretty much cope with it. However if he grabs my hair to help keep himself upright on me, it drives me fucking potty. I know he means no malice, but it drives me INSANE. Does this make sense? I hope so.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/02/2009 19:17

Oh, and just incase she didn't tell you, give the drops after a feed.

SuperBunny · 19/02/2009 19:18

Yes, where is pink?

mollyroger · 19/02/2009 19:38

Atilla, sadly, I fear the 2 of us might just about make up one whole normal bod lol....

AtillaTheHoney · 19/02/2009 19:38

Well, I think her sister was staying for a bit, so maybe she is 'busy' being social, not , well you know.

I have work to do, but can't stand up for long. I couold do with a job testing beds.

MMMmmmmm, or furry throws..mmmmmmm

I have found a furry throw that you can heat (not quite sure how), oh my life, how divine is that. Would give a new dimension to my afternoon naps relaxing.

AtillaTheHoney · 19/02/2009 19:39

, ah well, back to the ironing board molly........

SuperBunny · 19/02/2009 19:45

How do you heat a throw? I want one! It's fecking freezing here again. I was thinking of taking the children sledding this afternoon but it's just too cold.

I got kumquats. Bad idea.

littlerach · 19/02/2009 19:57

Flying visit as mum has just left

Boco, I hope you get some answers. You poor thing, and dd2 of course. I can't find yuour other thread but hope you have had sme response.

Fran, it is horrid when you are tired and need ot divide or stretch yourself bewteen 2. I ma glad you manage dot get ot the gym.

Hugs/backpats ot all veggers

I haven't had much F&V in last few days, but it is half term.

Dd1 has been referred to the Paedatricians (SP?) so will get appt in next month or so. She was weighed and measured and the dr had a look at her, and she managed ot fall spectacularly off her chair whilst putting her boots on, then couldn't get her arm back in the sleeve of her coat. Dr was also concerned that her speech still isn't that great.

Dd2 has been up every night this week, so I ma knackered. She came into bed with me last night but neither of us could sleep with dh's snoring and twitching. I am off to bed in a bit.

mollyroger · 19/02/2009 20:01

Atilla, at least you can iron! I cn't iron a teatowel, withourt making it look worse than before.
I don not DO ironing. Ironically, given the state of my house, i can clean, I just, erm, choose not to! Money would be huge ncentive....

FrannyandZooey · 19/02/2009 20:41

I'm here!!! Anyone heard the one where dreaming about making stew means imminent arrival of baby ? MIL dreamt about making stew. I said she could bring it round at the weekend My mum has been so convinced that baby would be early that she's booked a few days work in 10-14 days time. Even though I said all along he'll be late!! She's worrying now that he's not earlier than dd - in relation to due date, she was born tonight!!

Lemur, you saying about the pulling himself up on your hair thing has just really rang a bell!! I can't remember what it was that dd used to do but there was a similar thing (grabbing me or something) that would just make me want to throw her!!

I've been out for dinner with DH. Chinese buffet place. Very yum. My sis is here til tomorrow so she babysat. We went swimming today (claims exercise 10) and dd discovered the slide! I couldn't go on so my dsis went up with her about 105 times Poor thing's exhausted and will probably have to sleep for the entire weekend when she gets home but I've been soooo grateful for the help.

FrayedKnot · 19/02/2009 22:08

Chinese buffet...mmmmmm!

Pink you sounds very upbeat

I've just been to the gym for an hour and then eaten the most enormous wedge of banana cake. It did need finishing.

SB sorry it's so cold...it must be hard to have to stay inside so much during the winter.

FrayedKnot · 19/02/2009 22:11

I find cleaning very soothing.

I suspect this may not be normal, however.

FrannyandZooey · 19/02/2009 22:12

pink you do sound a bit chirpy
any erm signs at all???

well evening again and many thanks once more for the whingeathon

i will now focus:

30 mins in gym

blueberries (2 portions)
apple
banana
raisins
dried apricots
hummus
soya beans (2 portions)
sweetcorn (2 portions)
random veg bits
mange tout
grapes

reasons to be cheerful:

ds2's skin looking peachy, only a bit dodgy round neck which is where i swaddle him with some horrific lycra jersey thing
(we will not mention his nappy area )

the muscle on my arms is starting to come back at last hurrah [shallow] [chin ups]

ds1 has been invited to friend's house tomorrow - from the start i have been paranoid that his mum doesn't really like me and is going to phone to cancel - she phoned tonight to ask me if i wanted to come to the cinema

i don't have to worry about cutting out sugar with the thrush thing, because i have already cut out the frigging sugar, because everything i want to eat with sugar in has frigging dairy in it
so hah

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 19/02/2009 22:32

DH is home

He has herniated intercostal muscles. The clot scare was caused by bruising (haemotoma) which has dispersed with the little bit of clexane he had. He now has some Very Good Drugs for the pain. I could do with some Very Good Drugs myself after the past few days...

Franny don't be daft. Ongoing problems can be very wearing, especially with a baby. I hope you get the thrush sorted. I think I should award you a sticker for your 10/10 performance today but seeing as you can't eat anything but f&v I'm not sure I should (oh - and I'm not sticker monitor am I? )

LittleRach I hope you get some answers from the paed.

What's the temp where you are Bunny? It was a positively tropical 10'C here earlier, with sunshine 'n' everyfink.

Right. Tomorrow I am going to 1. eat f&v and list; 2. Take dd swimming; 3. Fret that I suddenly feel better and this may mean Bad Things

Title: I'm gonna squash that mango right out of my pear

FrayedKnot · 19/02/2009 22:52

Here, have some banana cake to inhale, TF. I just did...it was gooooood

Good title

FrayedKnot · 19/02/2009 22:53

Um it's sugar and dairy free cake, Franny

womblingalong · 19/02/2009 22:57

Hello FK, TF and Pink, and all of you!

Just a short one: Like the title Tf: could edit slightly to

'I'm gonna wash that yam right out of my pear', maybe?
