Original post by the lovely FrannyandZooey

For anyone who wants to boost their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - If you don't normally eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 mins is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restictions on what you eat as long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving your energy levels and hopefully mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you are getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

oh do saucy leaning

Boco · 31/01/2009 10:39

It's a bar near Embankment. Would probably feel more comfortable in jeans, but I get to wear dresses and dress up so rarely that I quite fancy it.

Boco · 31/01/2009 10:41

Wtf is tartex? Isn't that what people use to make swirly patterns on their ceilings. I'm sure that could cause some skin conditions if eaten on toast.

TigerFeet · 31/01/2009 10:41

Wear the frock Boco, be all girly and giggly and thrust yer norks in people's faces. It will be fun

Guadalupe · 31/01/2009 10:42

That is vrilliant, Franny, only a few more days then and you should know! 4LBS

Wear the dress then, Boco, I enjoyed wearing mine for the christening other weekend. It makes a change.

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 10:43

no it's brown and yeasty
in fact i probably shouldn't be eating it given recent candida thing
fkn hell what IS safe to eat??

just boojas and gruel

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 10:44

how many more days then guad?
how will i know? will it definitively go if it is dairy?

TigerFeet · 31/01/2009 10:44

I have lost 10lbs+ [competitive] although to be fair I didn't really want to

I have taken some meds

I feel better

But am not happy about it

Guadalupe · 31/01/2009 10:45

I don't know the answer, Franny, all I know is that ds's symptoms were gone after two weeks and if dairy is the cause you should have seen a defnite improvement.

TigerFeet · 31/01/2009 10:46

I think you have to keep going for two weeks to be sure Franny

It's not completely wasted effort if there is no effect - you will be able to scoff as much cheese as you like, completely free of guilt, instead of always wondering what if

Guadalupe · 31/01/2009 10:46

10lbs

TigerFeet · 31/01/2009 10:48

s'ok Guad, am still humungernourmous

just marginally less so

it will probably all go back on now that I am able to drink successfully for some of the day

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 10:49

what, i should have seen a definite improvement by NOW or after 2 weeks?

i must admit it is having a good side effect which is: soaking up some of the guilt i have about his eczema
i somehow feel it is my fault or i am doing something wrong, so depriving myself by missing out on food is actually quite good for my soul

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 10:50

tiger you and pink are going to be such sleek and delicious new mothers
i am still 1 stone over pre baby weight and probably 2 stone over what i should be

TigerFeet · 31/01/2009 10:53

lol & pmsl & roffle @ sleek new mothers

I weigh about the same now (even post extreme weight loss) as I did when 9 months pg with dd

Pink otoh will be svelte and worthy

Guadalupe · 31/01/2009 10:54

Definite improvement after two weeks, but you may begin to see signs now.

I feel like you are trusting me but I don't really know other than personal experience and anecdotal friend's evidence and what the dietician and allergist told me, which I suppose is okay advice but still. I feel responsible for your cheese denial! I can only recommend trying for two weeks because it was worth it for me.

Tiger - that's still impressive.

Do you think I would lose weight if I gave up butter?

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 10:54

well you will be voluptuous and peachy skinned then

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 10:55

i mean tiger will be peachy skinned

i think you might be surprised how MUCH butter you are eating guad if you are anything like me
i thought i was always buying butter because there were 3 of us eating it enthusiastically
however i stop and the same pack of butter sits there untouched for a week

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 10:56

and no i am really glad to be trying this guad
you aren't the only person to say it at all, it makes sense, and also it makes me feel like i am DOING something
plus i shifted a small amount lard
can't be bad

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 10:58

and tiger i would have taken the meds also
you can't function like that and you have your dd to think of
i think you did the right thing for your situation

Guadalupe · 31/01/2009 10:58

Hmm, I don't remember losing much weight when I stopped airy but I found a lot of replacements.

My friend showed me how much butter was 70 cals the other and it was about the amount that I re-spread on my toast every time it melts in.

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 10:59

god i would think 70 cals is about a swipe with the knife isn't it?

Guadalupe · 31/01/2009 10:59

I have big knives.

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 11:02

ooh

Guadalupe · 31/01/2009 11:02

Whoosh
