For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

pink is sunny - that is not really a value but she is always optomistic.

Well, I must admit Integrity does sound a little dull next to bounciness but it's still a good thing. And I think you are allowed more than 1 core vaule. So you could have Integrity AND be perky too, Franny

Boco · 29/01/2009 22:14

Franny is resilience, honour, pride. [homestead]

I like all pinks perky ones.

Me and Bee did talking with voices. I might fax her later. Or send a pigeon.

ty sb...I am so proud...because this is our first proper assignment....and it counts for 80 % towards the grade in this module....

well, on monday we gonna back the grade for another modules assignment which consisted of an Exhuibition piece of our Occupational Journey from Birth to now...i.e. activities/roles/occupations in productivity, leisure and selfcare...
I did a "Gingerbread House" STYLE Dollhouse. Basically a house made of cardbard and with biskuits stuck on and stuff...
we also had to produce an A4 page explaining our piece, then there was a presentation of it within a small group and finally a horrible reflective essay, which was a nightmare...I mean I can reflect...but than to have to find research towards that......
not holding much hope out for that essay...it was crap...lol...hopefully the rest of this assignment was better!
sorry rambling on boringly...

Lullabyloo · 29/01/2009 22:27

ello
core values?
I havn't a clue

Todd says my core strength is very weak & I need to do pilates or yoga. That is the only core I know of.

Ds had a better day today & ate his lunch before end of play
Woooooo Hooooooooo!
Mostly because he made the bread I think...

FairLadyRantALot · 29/01/2009 22:30

AWW LULLABY....
bless him!

As for the core value thing...within OT it would be the client/patient that actually determines those, because they are so personal...iykwim...
ANd it could be anything that is important to you....i.e. anything that makes you who you are, and the way you react to things, etc... it could be something very spiritual/religious...it could be your family...it could be things that scare you or worry you, etc....

not sure 100's core value thing is the same though....

FrayedKnot · 29/01/2009 22:31

God I have read so quickly I am all confused. I thought

"eggs, mushrooms, pulses" were MR's core values

I need a lifecoach. Where would I find one?

Now. Avi. Chickpea salad - my sister makes a lovely one which is, other than chickpeas: red onion, feta cheese, cherry toms, cucumber and mint. Dress with olive oil and lemon juice, and leave to sort of infuse a bit fo a couple of hours before eating. The mint is essential, which does make it tricky in winter, but I epxect you can buy it in Waitrose.

SB - Moroccan pizza was interesting. It has cheese in though..are you vegan, I have forgotten. But it was odd to make.

Basically you make the pizza dough, roll out into an oblong, put a filling of tomato, onion, cheese, parsley, and herbs and spices of your choice, onto the dough. Then you fold it into 3, and roll it out again, which makes a very odd squishing sound.

Like a pizza sandwich. It said to fry them, but I baked as per an ordinary pizza. It kind of came out a bit like calzone only more dense.

It was supposed to have cumin in but I wasn;t sure so I just used some herbs.

DH has been making me do a Bernes' transactional analysis questionnaire (if anyone knows what one of them is) and I am an inverted triangle, which is apparently not great.

Overall we concluded that I am a control freak. Which doesn;t tell me - or DH - anything we don;t already know .

I've been to the gym.

FairLadyRantALot · 29/01/2009 22:32

ty franny

FairLadyRantALot · 29/01/2009 22:34

Frayed that moroccan pizza sounds a bit like a calzone...it sounds yummy though, and the chickpea salad also sounds lovely

SuperBunny · 30/01/2009 03:56

Oooo, what's Tech done?

Not vegan, FK but trying not to eat dairy & stuff. Moroccan pizza sounds interesting. It'd probably be good without cheese?

Peas
Pepper
1/2 blood orange
1/2 normal orange
2 1/2 bananas
raspberries
strawberries
dates
raisins
sultanas

I reckon I got 10. Only a little exercise tho, Will run tomorrow night.

stuffitllama · 30/01/2009 04:01

Need advice: received a card in the post today from ex BF saying he was very sorry for hurting me blah blah blah. Do I just ignore? That's what I want to do.

mymama · 30/01/2009 05:40

I haven't done very well staying on this thread have I .

I don't have much fruit or vege to speak of.

grapes
banana
avacado
tomato
lettuce
plums 3
corn
cabbage

That's it total for the last 3 days. Exercise is good. My job is very physical with lots of walking 5 hours each night.

stuffitllama · 30/01/2009 05:57

I think you can ignore it if that's what you want. Are you worried about being rude? If you don't want to open contact again then don't.

"five hours of walking every night"

heavens to betsy

stuffitllama · 30/01/2009 06:00

I haven't been very good either. I have had a decent quantity, definitely over five every day, and doing more exercise, but it all seems very mundane compared to the 10 zeitgest.

I just eat carrots, broccoli, bananas, apples and so on and most of you seem to have an amazing talent and energy for introducing 15 into one meal. And lentils for pudding.

TooTicky · 30/01/2009 06:04

Hospital have a bed for ds1, and it's in the children's bit, so that is good. He and dp will be off shortly. Feels a bit odd not to be going with him.
Still, I have ds2's next one to look forward to

Will read thread now...

TooTicky · 30/01/2009 06:11

Ooh Guad, were those core values for me? I like them

SAUERKRAUT!!!!! Do you lurk? You must do, that is too too coincidental. I often think about you. How are you?

What else was I going to say?

avi,I want to know your menu [nosy]

LR, can talk protein on Monday if you like but it sounds as if you've had lots of good advice already.

stuffitllama · 30/01/2009 06:22

Toot hello
hope all goes well
good luck tootlet

TooTicky · 30/01/2009 06:51

Ooh Stuffit you typed in blue! How did you do that?
I shall send your good wishes through the ether to him. He is in jolly good spirits.

SauerKraut · 30/01/2009 06:57

Hello Toot!! No, I suddenly felt something urging me to come and have a look! Ok then, yes , actually. I like you all very much but still find it hard to join in. So I pop in and out from time to time to see how you are all faring.

TooTicky · 30/01/2009 07:03

Sauerkraut Do you lurk 24 hours a day?
Good to see you How are you? And weren't you going to host a meet up at some point? [hopeful]

SauerKraut · 30/01/2009 07:04

I am fine, ta. Had an operation which is annoyingly taking an age to sort itself out. But things with dd1 (autistic) are much better, or, should I say, much more easily manageable. On the other hand, ds is causing mayhem at his new secondary school, obviously can't have everything! And yay, dd3 was finally allowed to go to school and is doing well.
Now I would just like to be able to start some sort of work again.
How are you and all yours? I saw you had health worries and I hope you get sorted.
Hello to everyone else.

SauerKraut · 30/01/2009 07:09

Not quite, but the computer is on a lot for other stuff, so it's easy to dip in and out! Good old broadband.
Meet up? Any time! Just say the word, the health farm awaits you all...

SauerKraut · 30/01/2009 07:11

And good luck to your ds1.
