For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Lemur, IME, a life coach is like a personal nag . They help you identify bits of your life you want to change and then help you identify ways to change.
Then they nag you gently to get off your arse to do the things neccessary for change.
ie: I can't drive.
''would learning to drive change your life? How would it do that...''
Then: ''so what is preventing you from learning to drive...''
then : ''so, you've told me it's money, time and fear'. What can you do to eliminate those obstacles''
The eventually...''So, have you rung the driving instructr yet?''
Me: ''er, no miss''
Her: ''so when are you going to ring?''
Me: er tomorrow
Her: What time tomorrow...
etc etc

SuperBunny · 29/01/2009 20:08

Light is very important, Guad. If you will be miserable because of the door in the corner, everyone will suffer. Much better to move it and be happy, I think.

Boco · 29/01/2009 20:08

Lifecoaching was v good for me. In the six weeks i was speaking to her - (once every 2 weeks) I passed my driving test, had 7 commissions, got so much done and sorted and gained confidence and energy and it was very good. But now she doesn't call anymore I've gone backwards again, I need a permanent life coach to call me and say 'So, what are you going to do this week that will MOVE you FORWARDS?, hmm? well?'.

Guadalupe · 29/01/2009 20:09

Yes, Bunny, that is my view! So you don't buy this kitchen design rule crap about not having things either side of a door?

Guadalupe · 29/01/2009 20:11

Everone I know had galley style kitchen like this anyway, that's what victorian kitchens have, I think they are talking crap.

There has been air whistled through teeth.

mollyroger · 29/01/2009 20:13

Erm, in my life coaching 6 weeks, I managed to order shopping online regularly, do a household chores rota (which lasted 2 weeks), looked into joining community choir (which I never joined), looked into starting own business (I didn't ) fill in passport form for children (which I promprly forgot to post) and still never got round to learning to drive.

SuperBunny · 29/01/2009 20:20

Depends what things are either side of the door - as long as you have your fridge and cooker and sink fairly close to each other, I think it could be nice to have a door in the middle. Alterniatively, could you leave the door where it is and just put in an extra window? That probably wouldn't be any cheaper, would it.

Guadalupe · 29/01/2009 20:21

Boco - what about this one here?

Guadalupe · 29/01/2009 20:23

well, they say it would be cheaper, but it would be a window into the utility, which it would be with door but door to garden would be aligned and glass iyswim. A window to another room would look odd I think.

TooTicky · 29/01/2009 20:27

Oh you are all talking again. I can't keep up and have no time.

100x, Sauerkraut lives in Switzerland.

I wonder what my core values are.

Guadalupe · 29/01/2009 20:29

ethics, empathy and enthusiam

littlerach · 29/01/2009 20:29

I have a window into the utility and it is odd.
Door in middle is good.

Okay, mama g and anyone knowledegabele.

Protein for veggies, please.
mainly for dd2 who rarely eats meat. WhatdoI need to ensure she eats??
Other than cheese.

SauerKraut · 29/01/2009 20:30

SuperBunny · 29/01/2009 20:58

Pulses, grains, oats, soy stuff (milk, tofu etc), quinoa = protein

Hello TooT

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2009 21:15

rach how old is she?
nuts, seeds, wholegrains, beans, lentils
but don;t fret too much
protein in most things in adequate amounts

well have been coached
did wheel of life
core values next week

in the 6 times i have had coaching sessions i have:
gone back to gym, seen personal trainer twice and got into routine of exercising every week
organised time so i do a structured activity and a fun activity with ds1 every day
started diary of ds1's activities so i can see what he does each week
done the wheel of life
and decided i need to go and have a bit more counselling

my wheel is nice and steady
maybe i lied cos it feels a bit wonky and about to fall off tbh

lemur they are like kind bossy people
they make you do the stuff you want to do but think you can't
or ought to do but don't
actually it is more subtle than that
they make YOU make YOURSELF do the things you ought to do

i have student so it is cheap
she's nice, we both have babies so we understand one another's shambolism

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2009 21:16

oh i REALLY like integrity
integrity = pompous wanker doesn't it
but i don't care

FairLadyRantALot · 29/01/2009 21:32

LOl at sb's ( I think) mum...bless her though...where does she live then?

Huhu SauerKraut....

Guad...Cider Vinegar...i.e. drinking it or putting it on achey hips?

Well, I took some nurofen, that sorted them there achey hips....

I am ever so pleased with myself...finally found where the results for assignments are actually posted (would have been nice if the tutors had given us the link to it, rather than a fellow student mentioning it in passing, iykwim...)
Anyway, I have gotten a B- for my leaflet.....wohoo!

pinkspottywellies · 29/01/2009 21:52

I didn't know you were there either Fairlady. Not far from me and TF.

Feeling better and DH has been quite helpful tonight. He's just running me a bath.

Night all x

(oh and I noticed nobody did my core values...)

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2009 21:57

pink

openness, optimism, bacon

FairLadyRantALot · 29/01/2009 22:01

Oh, didn't know TF and you were near me

lol at franny's crossed out bit
And heh, people...I got a b-...where is the praise
I am pretty please...this is the girl that did generally do average in school and nursing training....so a b of any kind is fabulous [flounce]

SuperBunny · 29/01/2009 22:03

Well done Fairlady! My mum is nr Dusseldorf-ish.

I have been hiding in the kitchen so I can eat raspberries without having to share them

Deffo optimisim for Pink. And bright/ cheeriness. Is that the same thing? I like integrity.

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2009 22:06

yes but integrity seems a bit grey and chilly next to pink's bouncy bacon eating doesn't it

can perkiness be a core value? pink you are perky
i mean i know you aren't now
but it's temporary blip
you have inner perkiness

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2009 22:07

oh yes well done fairlady
