For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

My own stupid fault htough.

SB, 100 speaks sense (again)

FrannyandZooey · 28/01/2009 19:37

blood sugar issues i think
went all shaky on way home from soft play
just ate large amounts of food
feel spacy

oh lack of sleep probably not helping
i was coping with the fairly frequent night feeds by just dozing the whole time but now i have to stay awake during them so i can stop ds2 from scratching himself the whole time
plus he is staying awake for ages around 4 am i presume as eczema is irritating him so much

is such lovely little chap though - may do photos later if you can see spots don't mention them!

FairLadyRantALot · 28/01/2009 19:41

ILike...I am not remembering it all...I just have my notepad open and add to it as I read, lol...now having that good a memorey, now that would be impressive
And, yeah, I know he can still improve...but what if he isn't....sigh...
Oh, and I always feel icky when I have a cold/cough/flu....always makes me want to barf...

Franny, that peculiar feeling doesn't sound good at all....hope the food helped...and do get some sleep.

Well am going to get the Kids to bed and then sort that kitchen....sigh...

ahundredtimes · 28/01/2009 19:47

Yes it sounds like lack of sleep, and also perhaps your new diet? I'm not very good of this sort of thing though. I exist on caffeine.

Lack of sleep just about the worst thing in the world.

Porridge? Can you eat that under your new regime? Might give you enough zoom for the day? You might need to eat it at lunch time though. I always feel starving at 4.30 and that's when I break into the brie.

SuperBunny · 28/01/2009 19:47

All ok now, we are 'sewing' and eating dates

Goober · 28/01/2009 19:48

Are newbies allowed in?

SuperBunny · 28/01/2009 19:49

Porridge is a good idea - it's good made with soy milk too. Mmm, brie...

SuperBunny · 28/01/2009 19:50

Yep, come on in Goober. Do you like beards?

ahundredtimes · 28/01/2009 19:52

God, it's nearly bedtime. I am reading dd Harry Potter 1 and ds2 Harry Potter 3. It's very boring, especially as I've read them all out loud before. Also ds2 can read himself. Also there are a lot of words and wizards. Also I get confused going between the two books, and bored.

Conversation with ds1 about his story went v. badly. I couldn't let it lie. I said 'but it's all about sex' and he was and I said 'it's a bit weird' and he shouted 'YOU ARE NOT VERY ENCOURAGING AS A PERSON.' and I said 'I thought you wanted CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM' and he said 'WELL I DIDN'T, I WANTED YOU TO SAY IT WAS GOOD.'

This followed from the previous evening where I asked him if he thought he was crap at the clarinet. God, the poor sod. I'm not sure how to spin this after the event. Also then he was all sad last night about school stuff. Jeez. I think I should come with a health warning actually.

Goober · 28/01/2009 19:52

Beards?
Not on me, no.
DH has a stubbly goatie but not a proper tumblweed face.

ahundredtimes · 28/01/2009 19:53

Ah Goober. Come in.

Okay am off to offer more 'constructive criticism' to whatever poor sod gets in my way.

Goober · 28/01/2009 19:56

Do you count up your fruit/veg portions?

FrayedKnot · 28/01/2009 19:59

I have a very lovely beardy male friend who I think is currently single if anyone is interested.

Hello Goober, welcome to the wonderful world of kiwi, kale, and beards.

FrannyandZooey · 28/01/2009 20:04

100, saying "it's a bit weird" is NOT constructive criticism

goober hello
i'd give you a sticker just for joining but i've been banned

FrannyandZooey · 28/01/2009 20:05

thank god no-one has said "we are all mad here" yet
goober we are all quite sensible here
and we like fruit, except for polly, but she is new, so we don't mind

ahundredtimes · 28/01/2009 20:08

Well [uneasy] I did say things like 'I love this bit here' and I love this, but I'm not sure it's really going to work if the dog and cat mate and they have alien babies, and a human baby too from what you've said.'

'nooo, the owners have an adult baby but the pets babies are very mutant'

'I think it's weird, a bit weird for 6 y-olds. Are you planning on erm, writing about them mating then?'

he does have to an INFANT school and read this story out.

YOU ARE NOT VERY ENCOURAGING AS A PERSON.

It was quite a long conversation actually, none of it reflects well on me though.

Goober · 28/01/2009 20:09

Today I have been mostly eating:
Lettuce,
Cucumber,
Tomato,
Banana,
Apple,
Broccoli,
Carrots
Mixed veg in stir fry.

I'm not a MN newbie, just a 10/10 newbie.

FrannyandZooey · 28/01/2009 20:11

that's a shit sandwich though isn't it? (sorry, revolting phrase)
i bet he will grow up to be famous outre novelist who hates critics

SuperBunny · 28/01/2009 20:11

lol @ poor ahundred & her DS

FrannyandZooey · 28/01/2009 20:12

m'boys for your delectation please

oh and the view from greenwich park!

littlerach · 28/01/2009 20:13

Goober, that is too impressive.
You mus lie and say you ate crap too.

Welcome anyway.

Pink will give you a sticker when she gets here.

littlerach · 28/01/2009 20:14

Lovely pics, Fran.

Goober · 28/01/2009 20:15

No crap at all. Unless coffee is "crap"?
Weighed myself yesterday, decided to do something.
Can't wait for my sticker.

mollyroger · 28/01/2009 20:19

100,. I'd be so overwhelmed if ds wrote anything at all!

I can imagine it now....''oh, you're going to call it Mein Kampf. Lovely darling well done, well done! Lovely!''

I like beards. Well not exclusvely. Dh had nea beardie when I met him. And no hair. Now he is long-locked and be-bearded and is just gorgeous.
I have no beard. Even though I am a pirate.

mollyroger · 28/01/2009 20:20

Just an aside, why, when dh cooks (rarely) is it always some form of readymeal with garlic bread? He professes to love cooking but the only thing he ever actaully Cooks is thai green curry. With not quite enough veg in it....
