For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Molly you iz wikkid.

There are some rather scary shouty screamy people here and some of them want to use the computer. Hope to be back later.

OsmosisBanana · 23/01/2009 19:24

That does sound shiteous Fran. What a wanker that herbalist is. People just can't keep their mouths shut can they? Never been my problem... no siree.

TooT - just to back up LilR's offer, I have 2 weeks off uni if you need help. You may have to send a homing pigeon to accompany me though.

FrannyandZooey · 23/01/2009 19:24

sorry i skimmed
well it isn't relevant to your lump anyway

i can do vegan stuff really
am teasing
i am fond of a spot of cheese though
funny as i don't like cow's milk - never could drink it after being vegan for a year

what's the best vegan chocolate toot? a milky one
boojas? anything in a bar? my friend gave me plamil carob sugar and dairy free chocolate yesterday

mollyroger · 23/01/2009 19:25

Toot, yu know I will do virtual hand-holding... x

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/01/2009 19:26

at the herbalist, what a witch.

Have you thought about seeing a homeopath? Good news about seeing a dermatologist though. Hopefully you'll find the root cause. It just seems too much of a coincidence that it has happened at the same time as ds is eating. Has he had anything with wheat, gluten or dairy? Or has it just been f&v?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/01/2009 19:29

what are boojas?

And I still don't know what collard greens are

TooTicky · 23/01/2009 19:29

thank you LR and OB will let you know, you can carry me in

Plamil is for hardcore people Fran.
Organica - the one with coconut in is good, also a hazelnut nougat type thing. Small bars, quite chewy.

Also, Organica as well I think, there are big bars. Incluing a vegan white bar but that does regularly go out of stock for months. Also a "couverture bar" made with rice milk. But not so satisfying cocoa-ishly.
Will think of `more,

This is now a warzone, have to go

OP posts:

Lemur, I don't know either.

Collared greens sound like collared doves really.

FrannyandZooey · 23/01/2009 19:39

oh after the nasty herbalist upset me i went to have lunch in town
only vegan thing on menu a peanut butter sandwich (from kids menu lol)
of course i ordered it and it came with butter in DOH
well actually MARG which i would not eat anyway
so sat and watched ds1 eat TWO peanut butter sandwiches, followed by strawberry ice cram milkshake
"try some mummy it's so nice. go on mummy you can just have a bit"

LOL

I need to list for the first time in about a thousand years because we ate like the Guadalupe household today.

Before the great listing -

Fra - am sorry, sounds horrid and worrying. Not much help as we are inviting disaster by being exzema (sp?) and allergy-free to date. Boco knows about this doesn't she? Also fwiw - and only to make you feel better about his beginnings - both ds's had plentiful amounts of antibiotics when first born and neither have exzma [how the hell do you spell that?] - so it could be, but also remember it could not be that too? Herbalist a hysteric, is what I'm trying to say.

TooT - you are a brave and resourceful and good woman. Well done. I think it is difficult and scary facing these things - but often they are not as bad as we terrify ourselves by imagining. Like Boco says they will check out the lump and hopefully work out what it is quite quickly. Hopefully you will like her and feel comfortable talking to her. It's her job remember, she wants to help you.

Right [fanfare} In honour of Ms Guadalupe's amazing meals tonight we had:

garlic chicken
roasted carrots and butternut squash
broad beans
celeriac and mushrooms
Green salad with
Mint
Blueberries
Raspberries
Strawberries.

I thenk you.

ahundredtimes · 23/01/2009 20:00

Also Lupey - I'm not ignoring you but it's all back in the mists of time. Like FMV mine were one so it's probably different. A mixture of Boco's and Avi's advice sounds right to me - I seem to remember a gradual phasing out, by mutual consent. Certainly no screaming or upset - but that might be an age thing.

I think the thing whereby I'm not really here is making me extraordinarily attentive for some reason. And talkative.

No that I know that FMV's were one, I meant they were younger.

Help me. I'm gabbling. I never gabble. It was the celeriac and the mushrooms in cream, and the mini carrots and butternut squash with balsamic dressing. It's made me high.

ahundredtimes · 23/01/2009 20:08

It's like a rush of vegetables in glaze to the head

FrannyandZooey · 23/01/2009 20:10

100
remember your new year's resolution to become shy?

Fuck. You are SO right. Am going to a party in London tomorrow night - I shall practice then and report back. [excited]

BBBee · 23/01/2009 20:13

guad - i had to stop ds at 22 months as was preganat. DD was about 27 months. She as old enough to talk to and I think we talked all about it and got her a special cup I think. It was a bit like boco with distraction and things but I do remember one night where she had woken up and was crying and asking and she was too tired to be explained to so I did rocking and crying too silently in the dark, but she did go back to sleep soundly and a lot quicker than I imagined. That bit was horrid, but it was only one bit.

TA-DA!

WELL DONE TOOTLE!!!!

  1. Sit down, take a deep breath and calm down!

Franny I think she's suffering from an overdose of trans fats and coagulated milk curd!! What do we do?

BBBee · 23/01/2009 20:16

list:

-dhal
-lettuce
-onion

Oh no - tha tis awful. All on you on here are doing it properly - even 100, boco is even shaving potato into her pasta. I did walk my parents dog though.

  • um, nutrigrain bar?
OsmosisBanana · 23/01/2009 20:16

akshally, trans fats are fairly rare in UK produced food goods these days after the furore when people found out about them and how they were being added to just about everything

My tutor told me. Therefore it is true.
