For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

TigerFeet · 16/01/2009 20:48

Good idea Fairlady

TooTicky · 16/01/2009 20:49

TigerFeet · 16/01/2009 20:52

So now I'm sitting in an overstuffed, oversized armchair with a yurt to my left and a village hall to my right, TooT has slathered me in cake and is offering hugs on plates.

okaaaayyyyyyy.

TooTicky · 16/01/2009 20:53

That's right

FairLadyRantALot · 16/01/2009 20:55

SuperBunny · 16/01/2009 21:07

Sorry for previous post - I am not fabulously drunk, it was DS. He wrote his name!

You have all been talking to much. I'm with Franny - shut the fuck up, you bastards.

Woah, this thread makes my head spin!

FairLady - I don't know you but I think you must be a lovely lady, what with being a nurse and now doing OT

I just watched that Derren Brown thing. It was good and weird all at the same time.

I'm now off to bed to read my book and to get a few hours worth of zzzz's before ds wakes up for his night feed. Yawn.

SuperBunny · 16/01/2009 21:41

I saw the Derren brown thing - that sort of stuff freaks me out.

Do any of you have indoor composting thingies? If so, what?

There are waaayyy more hugs that go on here than the rest of MN.

Franny--Thanks for your story. DH had gotten the snip (lovely man that he is he volunteered as he figured I had been pregnant 18 months out of my life, and 2 days of being kind of uncomfortable was the least he could do) and I actually went off b/c in March of 07. Ever since then things have gone downhill, and am back on it again, but don't seem to be having much luck.

I gots myself a kitchen scale today. Now I can cook with the rest of the world. I rather love it and named it Frank.

I started typing this post almost an hour ago, so if someone said something earth-shaking, I'm not ignoring you, I just haven't read it yet.

dooneygirl · 16/01/2009 22:27

And by Franny, I mean Fair Lady. . . my head is killing me today, and I seriously can't concentrate. Many apologies.

FrannyandZooey · 16/01/2009 22:45

I never feel worthy enough to join you lot...

...today I've eaten grapes, cauli, satsuma,
carrots, onions, leeks, sweet potato, butternut squash, green beans, peppers stuffed with cream cheese with chillies in tabasco sauce, celery and garlic.

SuperBunny · 17/01/2009 02:18

Oggs, did you really eat all that?

I had, um, a banana and some grapes

dooneygirl · 17/01/2009 02:39

TinyWhiteFeather · 17/01/2009 06:47

sets up shrine to Oggsdog.

Everybody is worthy of joining us Oggs....we are a bunch of lentil weaving, brain knitting, NUT EATING, (ducks incase Franny lobs something at her), yurt/village hall dwellers, exercising nutters who have very good intentions and talk a lot of bollox.

so welcome......

And now you have posted on this thread we might not LET you leave.

I am up early so I can do a bit of shopping without having to drag my mad, spawn of satan, poor children around a supermarket.

Didn't expect it to be raining though.

5 1/2 hrs sleep is enough for anyone isn't it? [hopeful]
