For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

TF and Franny said the F word on the same day
There must be something in the air.

ILike, I am doing a degree in Occupational therapy (first year) and my placement is within a Handtherapy OT department! It's totally fab! And after having some doubts the recent weeks , i.e. if I am doing the right thing, and should I not just go back into nursing (the easier option in the short term), etc...but, I now know again why I wanted to do it!

dooney...sounds a nightmare the constant periods...after ys was born and I stopped bf I had the implant fitted when my periods started again, and I started bleeding pretty constant, it was a mare, but I put up with it for 2 years, because it made me feel good and leveled moodwise. After I had it taken out went on minipill and no change, than went onto combi pill, still bleeding, but got, I felt murderous most of the month and just craved rubbish food, put on loads of weight due to lack of will power. I then just went off it, told dh to get his butt into gear to get the snip done ( he was all for it but than not doing anythiing towards it) and just refused sex until he sorted it out - he did take the piss out of me when I was so moody, which really upset me, because I just felt totally psycho, iykwm...! Since I stopped all it has gotten better with the bleeding! Thank god, because I was ready to ask for a histerectomy, but doubt I would have been given one anyway!
As for mirena coil, have heard very mixed things about that. People either love or hate it/have really good or bad experiences!

littlerach, do you use Quorn? Because I know vegetarians don't always eat it, due to genetic modification factor?

Tiny, your mirena story is shocking and scary...! A friend had a scary enough experience. Like with you they thought it was out, as they couldn't find it, she had lots of pain but they just thought it was pelvic inflammatory desease and treated for that! My friend was also trying for another Baby and just couldn't get pg. Well, it turned out, in the end, by a time where they were ready to go for IVF that the mirena coil had left the womb, but had moved into a cavity in the lower body, giving her infact pelvic inflammatory desease and also meant that the hormones were still in her bloodstream, and hence she couldn't get pg! It had to be surgically removed and luckily she healed well and fell pg soon after....but that story was teh one that put me off the most, I suppose...until I heard your!

Franny lol at the japanese sweety discription!
Sorry to hear about ds2's eczema and sore bum....not easy to deal with! [hugs] oh and have heard good things about that coloidal silver stuff!

Avi, for that theory of connection between eczema and asthma...don't think it can be denied as such....but I think, and I have not done proper research so am possibly wrong, is that both are conditions which are from within, and often because of our clean and hygienic status and our system not having to fight constantly, it decides to get busy and attack itself. There was an interesting documentary a few years ago, saying that it could be because we are wormfree, forinstance....obviously some worms are seriously harful, but I think it was ringworm or some harmless but disgusting kind of worm used to treat, and asthma etc, disappearred. They found the rise in asthma/eczema in 3. world country since worming programmes, etc...

pointy, stay,AND IT WILL make ENCOURAGE you to eat more f&v

Aww Frayed, how old is your ds?

Hello Possum!!!!! Addictive Personality...that is me too!

My F&V count is:
Melon
Apple
red grapes
green grapes
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Cbbage
Carrots

about 7 portions ...although do grapes in wine count

anyway dh is away with TA for the weekend, but he peed me off today, so good he is gone, lol....I asked him, specifically, to call a school, where es did a course and the plan says it is on and he [ds] says it is finished. I tried and could not get through so asked dh to ask...he did not just forget, he fell asleep on the sofa as soon as he hit the sofa after work and picking kids up from school...also, we ecided last night what we will have t eat and what kids are having, and he was all, I thought you were getting stuff shopping...and well, not true...and he just hates to be wrong so he will deny anything tpo the point him Knowing what was said wasn't and knowing I am the one saying the right thing but him saying "nope, that is not what we said"....really pisses me off, because I start secondguessing and wondering if I am going nuts

rant over!

TinyWhiteFeather · 16/01/2009 20:31

Certificate was a bronze award. They all get stickers for various things, culminating in awards.
last year dd1 got the highest award ever .

Fran, our fridge freezed carrots and cheese sometimes, I htink it is up too high.

Fairlady, I don't often buy Quorn but am not adverse to it. I buy their sausages when necessary.

TinyWhiteFeather · 16/01/2009 20:38

FairLady I just want to give you a big hug and a cup of something hot and steaming to your tastes....Hope you have a good weekend.
I am H free tomorrow AND i have got out of going to the MIL's again. On the other hand I have a swimming party to go to, which means getting in the pool.... in front of people....
Off to try and sit still for longer than 10 minutes!!

Lovely evening to all and Hi to SB cos I always seem to miss you these days.

TooTicky · 16/01/2009 20:38

I don't eat quorn but that's because it contains egg.

TooTicky · 16/01/2009 20:39

Feather?

TinyWhiteFeather · 16/01/2009 20:39

Oh....goodnight Toot, sorry, have passed through. Would linger but apparently the computer is for everybody .

TigerFeet · 16/01/2009 20:40

Not sure if I wanna be in the yurt bit or the village hall bit. I may linger undecidedly on the boundary for the rest of the evening in a ridiculously large and comfy armchair.

I may not have done too well on the f&v front today (melon, oj, a bit of salad on a butty and a teeny bit of tomato sauce on the pasta) but my dear veggers today I have exercised. DD and I went swimming. I am knackered and intend to be in bed within the hour.

Ooooh blw - I had never heard of it when dd was little. Something else to read up on

TooTicky · 16/01/2009 20:41

xxxxxxxxx

FairLadyRantALot · 16/01/2009 20:42

bless lr!

huhu aitch...but telling franny people what amount of f&v you have eaten works because she they erm....well...tis scary stuff if you don't have enough ....sweatring/shouting/ all sorts....could happen to you

TooTicky · 16/01/2009 20:44

Sorry I'm not doing very well at keeping up with everybody. I can't seem to concentrate very well today.

TooTicky · 16/01/2009 20:45

I am sending hugs to all those who do them and, um, cake to the rest of you. Okay, cake for everybody. Hugs optional.

FairLadyRantALot · 16/01/2009 20:46

littlerach...than just get quorn instead of mincemeat and do chilli as normal...might need more spices to get it the kick!

Tiny hugs and tea and make the next one a hot chocolate with gingerbread flavoured syrup
However, Swimming party...well....I feel your pain!

TigerFeet · 16/01/2009 20:46

TWF you need to be hogging that computer my love! Don't worry about the pool. I am hooge but have decided that being shy about the sad state my body is in is a waste of time. I warned dd's friend's mum that my legs are verging on the ridiculous. Any ishoos that she has from seeing them unbetrousered are not my problem
