For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Clemen-tyne, as simple as.

OJ
Olives
Leek & potato soup
grapes

Todays count is shocking. However I'm going shopping tomorrow, so it should improve. However I think it's also got something to do with the fact that it is the weekend.

No gold star for the Lemur.

littlerach · 11/01/2009 19:07

I am not counting today.

Dd2 had 12 portions on Thusrday

Clemen tyne.
Deffo.

stuffitllama · 11/01/2009 19:08

Clemen-tyne
rhymes with tangeryne of course

Guadalupe · 11/01/2009 19:12

Clemen tyne

Mango
raspberries
strawberrie jelly ones- in the cinema
leeks
sprouts
sweet potato
parsnip
carrots
Rhubarb

I have eaten loads of rudely pink rhubarb. I love the forced stuff. Made a cornmeal cake with it with loads of vanilla and the pink stayed pink. Was delicious.

We watched Inkheart today. It was okay, bit LOTR influenced though. Has anyone seen Into the Wild, the true story of that boy who goes off into Alaska on his own? I saw it with dh last night. I really liked it.

Congratulations btw Tiger!!

Sorry I'm a bit late saying it, have been away for the weekend.

I saw Into the Wild recently Guad. I kind of cried with frustration at the end, as well as sadness.

Tatties · 11/01/2009 21:41

Clemen TINE

It's how you'd say it in French so it is right

Tatties · 11/01/2009 21:42

Sorry that should have been TEEN

Stuffit - protein for DS. In the morning. Helps with concentration for the rest of the day. There is research on it.

Dooney, you can get good scales in Crate and Barrel

Have fun in london, Fran

I just finished reading Atonement and wasn't as happy with it as I expected. But the story confused me a bit and skimmed the part where it explains some stuff, so missed the important bits.

My friend's 3yr old DD is in hospital with pneumonia. Not sure what to do to help.

Lots of exercise. My legs are hurting from all the walking in the snow. It was knee deep

Olives, mushrooms, fruit salad, lettuce, some strange 'salad' in mayonnaise and perhaps that Marshmallow fluff stuff, no idea what it was actually.

I want cocoa-pops in bed now.

SuperBunny · 12/01/2009 00:06

Clemen TINE

SuperBunny · 12/01/2009 00:06

No, TEEN

SuperBunny · 12/01/2009 00:07

I don't know.

We have tangerines.

dooneygirl · 12/01/2009 02:12

Blueberries
Cranberries
Apple
Onion (1 1/2) (I realize that means 1 1/2 onions)
Carrot
Juice
Black eyed peas
Collard greens

Close, but not quite. DH did dinner duty, so it wasn't very vegetable friendly.

I've been mostly doing little stretching exercises and small hand weights, but got DH to show me how to use the treadmill today, and will be doing some quick walking on there.

Thanks for the info, SB. It looks like Crate and Barrel carry the exact OXO scale I want. And cheese making will not be a lost cause in this household. DH is going to take over the cheese making duties in the house. We went out today and he bought rennet and tartaric acid.

dooneygirl · 12/01/2009 02:17

And ack at the mayo salad and fruit fluff thing. Those don't count as food.

SuperBunny · 12/01/2009 02:55

Oh, keep me posted on the cheese making! Although I am trying to only eat F&V & grains this week and, if I can manage it for a week will continue. But I never seem able to do it these days.

OXO things are good.

FLuff stuff is ick. But it was a potluck and everything else had meat in it.

Please remind me why I do not want to start eating meat again? I am craving it a lot.

dooneygirl · 12/01/2009 03:24

I don't like potlucks. My food is better. Not that I'm biased or anything.

You don't want to start eating meat, because you don't want to. Good enough reason. I wish I had your fortitude, but I don't.

SuperBunny · 12/01/2009 04:02

I don't like them either - there is never any F&V.

mangolassi · 12/01/2009 06:15

Am back from rl. Have missed multiple threads, I'm sure, need to list before I get sucked in (to vegger threads and mn generally):

mixed berry smoothie
approx 1 ton of kale
couple of apples
have orange on my desk but can't promise to eat it cos the one I tried last night was cunting.

mangolassi · 12/01/2009 06:17

Ooh and carrots and raisin cake.

Coconuts definitely count.

stuffitllama · 12/01/2009 06:26

hello mango I wondered where you were

morning all, thanks Bunny I saw your post and thought aha! a coriander and ham omelette in the morning will kill two birds (sorry bird-haters for mentioning and bird lovers too I suppose) with one stone

don't go back to eating meat, maybe you are a bit short of something that is in meat because your diet has changed.. maybe if you take some B6 or something for a couple of days it could right itself

a satsuma tangerine clementine some vitamin c anyway ..rather tart

dooney cheese-making?

TooTicky · 12/01/2009 06:54

Good morning everybody

TooTicky · 12/01/2009 08:40

ClemenTYNE.

SB, iron? Or savouryness?
Foriron, make dried fruit compote (include apricots, peaches, pears if you can getvthem - pref unsulphured) and add a little molasses.

Stuffit, I wanted to say something helpful about ds but I can't think of anything. Sorry. Will let you know when my brain returns.

littlerach · 12/01/2009 08:43

Guad, we watched Into The Wild last year and I loved it, though was v frustratde by the end too!

Hi Mango.

WE have foul weather, rain and lashing winds.

Off to friend's for coffee and cake fruit.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/01/2009 08:50

I will make a point of watching Into The Wild. It's on Sky Movies at the moment but the synopsis din't draw me in, but as you've mentioned it I'll watch it.

I tried to read Atonement a couple of years ago but found it really slow going, however I loved the film.

The weather is rank here too. We've got friends coming round this avo so I really need to get some housewor done. Why are everyones houses always spotless except mine?!
