For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hope you're bearing up, Mou.

Guadalupe · 10/01/2009 13:57

OOOH, Tigerfeet, how exciting!! I always found out really early too, was doing tests from three weeks until they showed up! I get metal mouth immediately.

Five years is a great gap. I have four and five years between mine and it works well I think. Of course smaller gaps are good too, Pink. Both have their advantages.

Mango, raspberries, salad, avocado, red onion, tomatoes and a big fat coookie. Fourth day without coffee and I haven't really noticed it. Sort of wanted one when dh got an espresso on the market this morning but I had a hot choc instead.

Got some gorgeous throws from TK max. It's my new favourite place. They also had some blue Denby mugs that I had admired in John Lewis but I thought that might be pushing it.

littlerach · 10/01/2009 14:33

Hey Mou, hope you're doing ok.

stuffitllama · 10/01/2009 14:35

Tiny I'm sorry about your aunt. Take your time x

stuffitllama · 10/01/2009 14:38

Tiger your news is so smashing. You and Pink make me feel broody.. you have such a lovely time to look forward to. I hope you can take it easy for a bit because that early pregnancy stage is so exhausting (or was that just me?)

Broccole 2 (ugh sorry but ugh)

stuffitllama · 10/01/2009 14:39

SuperBunny · 10/01/2009 16:57

CONGRATS TIGERFEET! How very exciting.

Thanks to those whole helped on my threads - it's been a challenging week.

If MrDooney fancies doing a footrub in Chicago, I'm game. Send him over

I'm off out for the weekend. F&V will be almost 0 I suspect. Of course, I could have had some for breakfast but I didn't. Will get exercise tho, since there is much snow and I have to trudge several miles through it.

FairLadyRantALot · 10/01/2009 17:49

Oh Feather, sorry about your aunt, but I also hope that she went peacefully!

Have a good weekend away SB

Well, another day of succesful procrastinating here , I really must get started with Uni stuff properly...and also read up some more for my placement.

As for F&V count so far:
-2 Apples
-1Banan
-1/2 punned Cherry tomatoes
(that is about 5 portions , I think

and Dinner will add:
-mashed Swedes and Carrots (about 2 portions)
-Peas, Beans, Carrots and Sweetcorn (another 3-4 portions, I would think...

(and might have some cherries, later ...they had those on special offer)

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/01/2009 19:16

TWF, so sorry to hear about your Aunt.

Congratulations on your news TF, how exciting. We'll be able to start a veggers creche.

OJ
Salad
tomatoes
mushrooms/courgette/peas (about 1 portion in all)
avacado
Onion

I haven't done so well today, I think that's because we have been out of the house for most of the day.

DH and I watched Atonement last night and we both loved it. It was slow going at first but the story was just beautiful and sad all at the same time.

Tatties · 10/01/2009 19:44

TWF, so sorry to hear about your aunt.

Tatties · 10/01/2009 19:46

Oh wow, TF, congratulations!

pinkspottywellies · 10/01/2009 20:02

What shall I have for dinner? Is there anything that doesn't involve getting up? Even if I rang out for pizza I would have to open the door Is coco-pops for dinner bad?

On the upside raisins, mango, grapes/bluberries/satsuma/apple (1 portion). Oh dear that's not 'up' really is it? We went to a well known (crown wearing)Burger chain for lunch . Can I have a day off given that I slept thru tea time?

pinkspottywellies · 10/01/2009 20:19

How bad would french toast and golden syrup for dinner be?

TinyWhiteFeather · 10/01/2009 20:23

Was just lurking a little and reading all your lovely thoughts, Thank-you very much, they are hugely comforting, and ver much appreciated,

Anyway, I read TF's news and there was no way I couldn't pass on my biggest congratulations, am absolutely thrilled for you.... Please accept a gentle hug, and I'll do all your ironing for you.

Must be an odd time on the thread, it is about full moon time so I am grieving, with raging hormones.... Is this still a yurt? and if so could someone tether me to the pole for my own safety?

If I don't sleep soon I will be catatonic with exhaustion.

Anyway, this is TF's moment and I don't mean to take anything from it, so am releasing pink and blue helium filled balloons in the yurt and opening a bottle of schloer! See you soon. xx

BBBee · 10/01/2009 20:50
