For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

ahundredtimes · 02/01/2009 21:02

Oh no SB, sorry. I was larking about. I have started a thread about how to be shy. Is just messing. Sorry. Is nothing serious. of course.
[considers becoming very serious as well as shy]

SuperBunny · 02/01/2009 21:08

Oh yes, I see now

ahundredtimes · 02/01/2009 21:10

[hugs SB] I can't for the life of me see why it should make any kind of sense, tbh. Not much I do or say does.

NotanOtter · 02/01/2009 21:11

hello all - thinking i might try to join this if that's ok?
my fruit and veg consumption has been clementines and sprouts for the last week!

usually i am quite good but am unsure if 'leaves' count as hey are what i eat most of!

i will try to learn quickly to keep up.

today i have had zero veg and 1 clementine but only eaten in sarbucks and not had dinner yet!

womblingalong · 02/01/2009 21:13

Seriously,

What has been going on around here, I have just skimmed thread, and there seems to be loads of angst, hope all are ok.

ahundredtimes · 02/01/2009 21:15

NOA!

How lovely.

NOA and I watched The Family together once. I enjoyed that.

Yes, you MUST join in and eat competitively. Is all good fun, and Lupe has borage sometimes.

Welcome!

Oh dear Wombling, I haven't read it. I'm sorry there is angst and I am larking about. Must stop larking.

SuperBunny · 02/01/2009 21:18

NAO - welcome! Leaves DO count. The link in the OP shows you how much you need to eat for it to count as 1 portion.

I just got my seed catalogue, hooray!

SuperBunny · 02/01/2009 21:23

FOr those feeling angsty, mou has written some lovely things about the veggers on this thread

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/01/2009 21:23

OJ
Banana
Veg soup (butternut squash, sweet pot & onion)
Dried Fruit
Tomato sauce - no not ketchup
Apple

Blimey this thread moves fast.

ahundredtimes · 02/01/2009 21:34

I only got as far as a lot of people in a car with cheese giving Bee blow backs and taking crack. I'm assuming the angst follows after?

Sorry to all who are angsty.

Bye bye veggers. Happy new year!

FrayedKnot · 02/01/2009 22:15

OsBa I'm sorry what a nightmare Hope you are OK.

Franny, hope your Mum is on the mend soon.

Guad that was impressive! Did you have your hot stones thingie today?

Is the shy thread any good?

TinyWhiteFeather · 02/01/2009 22:20

Oh, don't be shy...it is horrible, especially if you blush as well and some arseholes men go out of their way to make you blush in front of loads of insensitive wankers onlookers.

Sorry about your mum franny..fingers crossed for her recovery.

SB. Aww. it is only the truth.

Have to get myself to the kitchen as have been on 'puter for some time...

Sorry for all stresses, but always good to read the chat and cameraderie. Goodnight all.

FrannyandZooey · 02/01/2009 22:37

Tatties · 02/01/2009 23:32

We took our decorations down this evening too Pink.

Wombling nice to see you!

SuperBunny · 02/01/2009 23:40

Yes, onion rings count! I expect you have to eat lots of them though.

Are the beans not called green beans? Are they long and thin? String beans? Runner beans? I dunno much about beans. I always eat green ones imaginatively called called 'green beans'.

I am going on a date. With a Frenchman. He emailed me to say, "I'll be wearing a beret and will carry a baguette in my left hand" I hate first dates. I have another one tomorrow (not a 1st date, just another date)

SuperBunny · 02/01/2009 23:40

Tatties! Hello!

TinyWhiteFeather · 03/01/2009 01:35

Oh wow SB..dates. can i we be nosy and ask you to keep me us informed.

dooneygirl · 03/01/2009 02:28

This thread has a lot more juicy SB information on it.

Hello all. Due to weather (flooding, snow) issues, I had no power yesterday, and only sporadic internet today. How quickly this thread moves. Sorry to all the people who had bad things happen to them, or are just feeling a little bleurgh.

I wasn't planning on starting till Monday, but am relatively happy with:

apple
carrot x2
onion
tomatoes
yellow split peas
spinach
cauliflower
juice

And I didn't even get out to go to go get produce today, because of the flooding and snow.

This is DH's first weekend off since November, so I won't be on here until Monday, when I hope to properly start.

Oh, yes, exercise. I ran around like a crazy person with DS and DD screaming that the aliens from planets Jupiter, Saturn, and Marv (not a typo) were chasing us for what felt like several hours, but probably a good 5-8 minutes in reality.

SuperBunny · 03/01/2009 06:28

Oh, I forgot that you are on BOTH my regular threads now, Dooney! Alien game sounds hard fun.

Frenchman did not wear a beret nor bring a baguette. I expressed my disappointment and suggested that next time he wear a string of garlic round his neck. I suspect he will not call me. I think I may have said something about all french people being rude . We had fondue so: apple

TinyWhiteFeather · 03/01/2009 07:03

Awww, I'd call you again SB, if he doesn't he's a chimp. (unless you don't want him too!)

My brothers girlfriend used to live in derbyshire, and I made a joke about 'southerners' (was genuinely a joke), forgetting she came from Oxford....it took years for us to bond! (no offence to any on here....groan).
It is funny how we anticipate others will share our sense of humour. I rarely get offended if I am from a 'type' that is the butt of a joke (ie northerners, women, cyclists...) and forget that others do.

Were you in public pretending to be an alien Dooney? I usually do something like that with DD and then remember where we are. We were skipping down the local meadow trilling 'we're laydees', completely forgetting half of the villagers walk their dogs down there.

TooTicky · 03/01/2009 07:06

I'm up earleeeeeeeeeeee

I'll just read the thread...
