For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

SB's train looks wonderful doesn't it?

FMV couldn't you set the alarm clocks for a more reasonable hour than 6am and tell him he has to stay in bed until they go off? SOunds like they had fun at the party

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 10:45

Trinity, I think there are bigger scandals on here right now than a bunch of lentil-weavers who like to prefix mangoes with an obscenity

TrinityRhino · 21/12/2008 10:55

roffle

thats true
but I have seen some huge rows over lesser words

was gonna come on her and defend you

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 11:28

good to see you here though

FrannyandZooey · 21/12/2008 11:30

I think we camouflaged it too well amongst the beans and parsnips, myself

morning all
bunny the santa train is superb! i also love the photo of ds pulling you on the sledge gorgeous
have optimistically bought ds1 a little pull along snow thing for christmas but i think it may languish in toy box
what are 10 / 10 children getting for christmas please? ds1 = cheapy cd player and we have made him a load of compilation cds to trash enjoy
he really likes disco (that's my boy) and Blur although he can't understand the accents. eg "Tracey Jacks" sung by ds1 as "Try Say Jack"
ds2 = treasure basket
predictably his favourite thing to play with is plastic eg the bit of plastic you get off a takeaway salad carton
my god he loves to shake and suck a bit of crinkly plastic
in fact he yells the place down when you take it away
anyway he is getting loving tasteful assortment of bark etc in a gingham basket - fab

I still feel shady
am abandoning exercise, is that the right thing in your esteemed opinions? god knows i could do with it if i am going to squeeze slide into new dress at christmas but on other hand is really a little late now anyway so sod it

So do you all have incredibly soft poo and do you find your intake of toilet paper increases after you adopt the ten a day habit?

(Sorry, newbie to this thread, invited by Dasher to get me away from That Other Thread).

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 11:36

my boys are getting even more lego

I am hopeful we can build us an extension soon, out of it.

Ds1's favourite gift from his friends yesteray was a big pack of plastecine which warms me cockles a little as he is going to be 11 in TWO DAYS' time!! (Have I mentioned that yet?)

I am more freaked out by 11 than I was by him turning 10 for some reason.
And I can remember every little detail of his birth so clearly....

DumbledoresGirl · 21/12/2008 11:38

Ooooh dasher, my ds2 is 11 today!

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 11:38

Hi DG!
we build up slowly, as it were.
Also I have a confession to make. We don't actually talk much about fruit and veg these days.
It just a front for our mango-pushing sideline.

I have existed soley on crisps and dips for 2 days now. Oh and some wickedly chilli-ish shallots which I pickled.

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 11:39

oh wow! Another little saggitarian?
Ah no, actually mine is Capricorn, isn';t he?
My DH and mum have december birthdays too.

DumbledoresGirl · 21/12/2008 11:40

Wasn't Christmas 1997 special? I was so emotional all the way through, what with all those people singing about a blessed mother with her baby boy, and there was me with mine!

TrinityRhino · 21/12/2008 11:41

thanks dasher

DumbledoresGirl · 21/12/2008 11:41

Ds2 is Capricorn too - it starts today, doesn't it? And I am Capricorn also (birthday on NYE - I know all about skintness at this time of year! not that I buy for myself of course, but dh and I share a joint account)

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 11:41

Franny at our shiney children's centre group, they have circles of wood with bark on to play with and build with in red gingham bags

And I have to stop myself calling the treasure baskets wnacky baskets.

TigerFeet · 21/12/2008 11:41

your ds has taste Franny

dd is getting some pretend food, she loves to play at being a waitress, and this horrid dog that you can plug into a pc and it talks to you and stuff. Some frilly bits for her hair and chocolate 'n' stuff for her stocking, and Boots the Monkey from Dora who has caused me nightmares - we went to see Santa a couple of weeks ago and she got a Dora plush toy, last week she decided DOra was lonely without Boots and Santa needed to bring BOots for CHristmas - and could I find one anywhere? Coudl I fuck, but happily for me and dd and DOra I found one online and paid through the nose to have it delivered in time for Christmas. It actually arrived yesterday [wipes brow]

@ own baby complete with wnaky basket

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 11:42

my big problem DG, is that Robbie Williams' Angel was No.1 and now I cry when I hear it...
Even though I am far Too Cool and Funky to like RW.

FrannyandZooey · 21/12/2008 11:44

well I want to get back to talking about f+v
i think we ought to, seriously
we did used to talk f+v in between whinging chatting supportively
eating healthily helps everything

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 11:44

And stop calling me Dasher, I don't know who you meeaaan! I is FMV!
(I keep seeing my name on threads and doing a double take and not recognising myself. Like when you see some old tramp with shit hair in a clothes shop and realise you are looking at yourself in the mirror)

FrannyandZooey · 21/12/2008 11:45

ds2 feeding every 45 mins
growth spurt anyone?
lol better steer clear of hvs
"WEAN HIM!" "he needs MEAT"

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 11:46

Franny, I have eaten my body weight in clementines recently.

But we have been too busy to shop. I have to say I am suffering from green withdrawal symptoms. I was eating all the salad garnish at the tapas restaurant with DH the other night because every bloody dish he ordered was meaty or fishy.

littlerach · 21/12/2008 11:46

Morning all.

You were busy last night

TigerFeet · 21/12/2008 11:47

OUr family birthdays are quite well spread through the year, but my Mum was 60 last week and her pressie (day out in London for her, me and sister) cost me a fortune. My two brothers and one sister are yet to cough up towards it

Froot & vedge? Oh yes... well.. erm... dd and I have eaten our combined body weight in satsumas this weekend - that's a lot of satsumas - dd is little and skinny but I am neither.

DumbledoresGirl · 21/12/2008 11:49

I did pause and nearly wrote FMV, but then I wasn't sure if I should. Oh dear, no wonder I did not get the calling to join the Other Side.

Was Angel number one? How funny. Cos in 2000 when dd was born, the first song I heard after her birth (at midnight on the MW's radio in the post natal ward - after all, it is not as if I wanted to sleep then, is it? ) was RW's "She's the One". And I can't hear that now without crying!

TigerFeet · 21/12/2008 11:50

hahaha @ x posts with FMV, much citrus all round

right, I am orf. DD requires attention and is claiming hunger.

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 11:52

dear lord, perhaps we need to start a sub-group of Over-Emotional Mothers who Wail Innappropriately at crap songs....
When ds2 was born it was Atoxic Kitten's Eternal Flame.
Well I am old enough to remember the Bangles' original version and I used to sing it to ds2 to get him to sleep ((while new mum tears plopped down unchecked!)

''close your eyes, give me your hand, darlin', can you feel my heart beating, do you feel the same.. etc etc.'' See it works, dunnit?
