For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

right, someone help me write a list of veg for christmas dinner please.

DumbledoresGirl · 21/12/2008 11:56

parsnips, sprouts, carrots, peas.

This is easy!

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 12:01

Well, I will buy sprouts...maybe just 4 or so.

I don't like 'em that much.

I have 2 picky kids, one dh, one friend who will eat anything and her partner who only really likes carrots and peas.
I want mashed sweet potato and sprouts with chestnuts and bacon
and carrots sauteed in butter, cumin and a dash of brown sugar. And red cabbage in balsaamic vinegar and apple.

MangeTooT · 21/12/2008 12:02

Celeriac. It is glorious.

MangeTooT · 21/12/2008 12:03

Ooh DG, are you joining us?
Knit yourself a cushion and dig into some...um....do we have any food in here?

MangeTooT · 21/12/2008 12:04
littlerach · 21/12/2008 12:04

I want anything that someone else will cook

That other thread is quite scarey, doncha think? This si a nice little refuge from everhtign else.

hello DG. Are you staying here?

MangeTooT · 21/12/2008 12:06

I have just eaten a square of chocolate with chilli in it, so that's the veg sorted.
And I finished dd2's oatcakes with pear puree earlier so that's fruit too.

MangeTooT · 21/12/2008 12:07

at the idea of someone else cooking

What is this other thread?

MangeTooT · 21/12/2008 12:10

Oh no, I enter the yurt and everyone leaves
Am off to make cards before I start typing crap again.

MamaG · 21/12/2008 12:12

OK I'm hoping I'm finally back to normal, well normal-ish after teh birth/bf stresses/infection nonsense! Had had an apple so far today but not had lunch yet - quorn bacon and egg sandwich for breakfast (in white bread ) so I'm not doing hugely well.

Tell me, will 10 minutes of brisk walking with the pram count as my exercise, every day or should I try to vary it? I also do running up and down stairs (shouting "where's your PE kit") and fast washing up (muttering "fucking dishwasher, where's fucking DH")

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 12:13

Toot, I'm still here. Though I need to go and feed the children something other than chocolate

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 12:14

MamaG, I'd say that was fine excerse wise. Plenty of time to increase it later..

lovely to see you again!

MamaG · 21/12/2008 12:17

Thank you

I think i saw on a thread taht you are in north yorks - I'm 10 minutes drive from certain parts of north yorks (and a helluva lot more from other parts!) but we visit PIL a lot (Wetherby)

DumbledoresGirl · 21/12/2008 12:19

Well you seem a friendly bunch. The only trouble is, I hate fruit (but love all veggies) and struggle to eat 5 a day let alone 10. So I am not sure I fit in here.

But, I have a secret and wonderful recipe for "Hungarian Red Cabbage" that is a firm family favourite and perennial Christmas dinner veg in my family which I could always hold over you for a few -weeks- posts.

DumbledoresGirl · 21/12/2008 12:20

Bum, why did that not work? weeks

Better.

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 12:29

oh wow! I feel a meet-up coming on...

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 12:31

DG, the 10 is an aspiration, which some of manage regularly and some of us me don't. If you (one) can up your veggie intake and your excersise, you(one) will feel better physically and emotionally. Well that's the idea anyway.....

daftpunk · 21/12/2008 12:33

at thread title

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 12:39
MangeTooT · 21/12/2008 12:41

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 12:43

DumbledoresGirl · 21/12/2008 12:44

TooTickyDoves · 21/12/2008 12:45

TooTickyDoves · 21/12/2008 12:45

S'okay, we won't tell anybody
