For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Morning. Might brave the mobs and take DS to an indoor bouncy castle type fest. Would rather sit at home and drink tea but DS doesn't seem to like that plan

SuperBunny · 30/12/2008 14:23

Ooo, what a handsome fellow

stuffitllama · 30/12/2008 14:24

SuperBunny · 30/12/2008 14:27

DumbledoresGirl · 30/12/2008 14:34

Hello folks.

Not been back here as I have not been eating anything other than chocolate, meat and other poisons for days now, but yesterday I had a good veg day. How does this sound:

Salad consisting of lettuce, sweetcorn, red pepper, cucumber and carrot for lunch, and pasta sauce made with tomatoes, onion, garlic, red pepper, and carrot for dinner.

Today I have already had a banana and a satsuma. It is not 10 a day but I would be happy with 5 to be honest.

SuperBunny · 30/12/2008 14:39

DG, souds v good. I aim for ten because I know if I aim high, I am more likely to eat 5. If I make no effort at all, I would only eat a couple of portions a day. I rarely manage 10 but average 8, I think, which is pretty good. Yesterday I ate MORE than 10 though, hooray!

DumbledoresGirl · 30/12/2008 14:45

More than 10? Is that possible?

Oh the other new thing in my life is a breadmaking machine so now I can make bread and know what all the ingredients in it are. I am aiming for some purity in my family's intake of food as well as improving the f&v content.

DumbledoresGirl · 30/12/2008 14:48

Oh and just who is responsible for this thread title?

Because, while I was sending my last post, ds1 (aged 12) looked over my shoulder and was highly amused to read 5 cunting mangoes. Will now spend endless hours telling him off for using the words.....

F&Z you haven't got flu you know, otherwise you wouldn't be posting on MN Get thee to bed with a drink of hot lemon and honey - you can add the lemon to your list of f&v for the day.

Avi, yes it is me on Ravelry. I shall look for you there when I am next there but the bread machine is calling me now.

FrannyandZooey · 30/12/2008 15:57

TinyWhiteFeather, I have been knitting today too. What are you doing? I have just started a scarf for myself.

SuperBunny, you are brave. I have stayed in drinking tea

TinyWhiteFeather · 30/12/2008 16:45

Hi Tatties....a bag as a present, and a knitted/crochet blanket that I started as a dieting distraction and is now my getting out of debt distraction. It is gonna be BIG..

littlerach · 30/12/2008 16:55

SB, we have been to the local soft play to meet a friend. WE now smell of chip fat

But it was lovely to see said friend and even more lovely to bump into another friend there, and we all chatted and it was nice.

It is so cold, my feet are very attractive shade of white and numb.

TooTickyDoves · 30/12/2008 16:58

Ooh lots of lovely people in here today

TooTickyDoves · 30/12/2008 17:00

Feather, your presence is required on the scrabble board.

TooTickyDoves · 30/12/2008 17:03

TinyWhiteFeather · 30/12/2008 17:17

I'm sort of here, just nipping over to FB. Then am going to hide from the television in the bath and go all pruney.
