For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Naughty Bee.

I have eaten vast quantities of white bread with butter today, only partially slavaged by salmon and veg and salad for supper, and I did have a lot of fruit for breakfast, but I have my eye on the last bit of brie. Criminal to waste it really.

TinyWhiteFeather · 29/12/2008 22:11

Hellooooo!

I thought you lot would have nearly filled up thread by now . Running about naked caught my eye....can I join in?

Just popping in to say hello, will read it all tomorrow.

And I thought I'd let you know I am losing my mango virginity for breakfast in the morning!! But am eating the most delicious melon at the moment.

S'good to be back.....

BBBee · 29/12/2008 22:27

goodness - 10/10 has all gone a bit soft porn has it not.

none of this was me you know - i was making dhal.

Guadalupe · 29/12/2008 22:30

It is not porn in all corners, Bbee.

Some of us are quite fully clothed.

Quattrocento · 29/12/2008 22:32

Can I just ask you all a question? If you could only go to one shop per week due to time pressure etc, and that shop has by definition to be a supermarket because you have to eat more than vegetables, where would you go for really good fresh fruit and veg?

I ask because I am finding Sainsburys increasingly disappointing, and M&S seemed really good quality by comparison. I thought you'd all know ...

Apologies for tangent.

FrannyandZooey · 29/12/2008 22:39

sorry quatt
i think good fresh fruit and supermarkets probably don't go together in same sentence
if time a problem why not have veg box delivered? local stuff can be really astonishingly fresh and tasty
i say can be, mind

and LOL at fruit being a tangent

OP posts:
BBBee · 29/12/2008 22:41

no no quatro - quite a welcome tangent in fact. we need to be kept on task as it were.

i do a sainsburys shop - and agree the quality is poor at times - try and go for seasonal helps a bit - but on sat i go into town with the children and we go to a very good market stall.

other people on here are better with news of veg boxes and things - i should do that but i am on the bad lazy continumn of veggers.

BBBee · 29/12/2008 22:42

oh and we went fruit picking in the summer and froze loads of gooseberries and we are eating lots of dried fruit atm too.

Quattrocento · 29/12/2008 22:47

Thanks both - have taken the DCs fruitpicking very occasionally - was fun but time short. Vegboxes sound like a good way forward, you think? How do I sort one out?

Guadalupe · 29/12/2008 22:48

My veg box is fresh and crisp and muddy.

I do get soft fruit and stuff from supermarket though.

FrannyandZooey · 29/12/2008 22:50

google for your town plus veg box?
there are national schemes but a proper local veg box produces better stuff ime
harder to find though
if you cat me with your town am happy to look for you

The man who delivers ours also grows a lot of it himself which is quite nice.

Guadalupe · 29/12/2008 22:51

There's something very nice and earthy about him. He has big hands.

Guadalupe · 29/12/2008 22:52

and you know what they say about big hands, or is it feet?

FrannyandZooey · 29/12/2008 22:52

yes

big gloves
