For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

have been trying to rub down the dog, v difficult when it's bigger than my youngest child and sees the rubbing blanket a as a toy to be ripped and gnawed to bits

are people better?

the fog here is like sleepy hollow

SuperBunny · 30/12/2008 03:47

Gosh, I go to work and come back here to find bee prancing around naked, with handfuls of salad, Mou not far behind her and talk of knobbery. You filthy filthy bitches

You have to eat a whole cereal bowl of leafy things for 1 portion. But a handful (about 3 tbs) of dried fruit. I have the portion sizes stuck inside a cupboard door and refer to it frequently.

I shop at the green grocers because supermarkets here are quite appalling.

SuperBunny · 30/12/2008 03:49

I'm having tea too, Stuffit

stuffitllama · 30/12/2008 04:48

hi bunny
are we twelve hours apart? I am UK plus five and a half
I shop at the greengrocers because there are no supermarkets but have big veg patch which comes up with nice surprises

SuperBunny · 30/12/2008 04:50

Yes, Stuffit - I am UK minus 6, so just about 12 hrs apart. How odd!

stuffitllama · 30/12/2008 04:50

You're Monday night right now?

stuffitllama · 30/12/2008 04:52

it is a bit odd isn't it.. you really feel it at this time of year when it's not Christmas yet at home, or not New Year (or in your case, it's Christmas before you reach it..)

SuperBunny · 30/12/2008 04:54

Yep, I'm still on Monday. Am off to bed now. You're halfway through Tuesday, almost! Wow.
New Year is always a strange one for me.

stuffitllama · 30/12/2008 04:55

am off into the fog to buy strange veg

night bun xx

Hello everyone

Spooky - a dahl recipe when I was just about to google one - oooOOOooo. I'm going to try to make it with these pulse-type things that are kind of halfway between lentils and chickpeas, think it'll work?

Guad ? careful of that veg box deliverer, remember Franny?s window cleaner

Franny ? not only did you hallucinate Bbeee running upstairs naked, you actually didn?t give the right answer to the portions question. You can?t just shout 'Wrong!' and 'Naked!' and leave it at that, you know. And i'm ignoring Sb's answer cos that's an absurd amount of leaves for one portion and means I've been doing even worse than I thought.

dragonfruit apple orange
MASSIVE salad with cabbage carrot tomatoes cucumber mushrooms olives (at least 4)
(that's bkfast and lunch, have plenty of time to get a few more in)
Oh! And it's taken me this long to realise that I can get brownie points for yoga too. About 30 mins this morning.

mangolassi · 30/12/2008 07:41

Where are you all? Have I misjudged the time? Did the clocks change? Mou/smiles/tiny did you eat your first mango yet?

Have to post to record that I'm drinking a 5-berry smoothie. it has banana in it too. I'm starting NY boot camp early.

TooTickyDoves · 30/12/2008 08:30

Good morning Mango. I hope Feather is not eating you.

Stuffit, don't get lost in the fog, will you?

Bee, have you been running around naked again? You know how excitable Franny it.

Does anybody have any tips on psyching oneself up for, well, life really. Everything seems rather effortful and unfun atm.

mangolassi · 30/12/2008 08:54

Sorry you're finding it hard, TooT - hopefully just the post-Xmas crash

Tatties · 30/12/2008 11:16

Good morning all.

Avi it is cold and frosty here. But I like it Hope you feel better soon.

TooT sorry everything is effortful and unfun (((TooT)))

Ds has just encouraged me to join him in eating a raw carrot. Mmmmm I love raw carrots (not too keen on cooked though)

TinyWhiteFeather · 30/12/2008 11:24

Mmmmmm definately not 'c' one. (struggles to speak with juice dribbling down chin).

Still haven't read thread. Am supposed to be doing housework while H takes rental car back but feeling rebellious.

Toot and {{hug}}.
Can you take up something new? Shall we make something together, or for each other? A cushion or something?

Got to go or I will be having sharp tongue and cold shoulder for tea. But would rather giggle and natter on here....I missed you lot.

Definately a mango convert though.

stuffitllama · 30/12/2008 12:03

for Toot -- have you seen Chitty Bang Bang? instead of Toot Sweets I think of Sweet Toot... is it Chitty Bang or Mary Poppins..

congrats on loss of mango cherry tiny

have eaten half a giant papaya and am waiting for my unexpected bottom, I don't think I'll have to wait too long

Avi I ONLY give paracetamol when there's no temp as I imagine (with no scientific what not at all) that under such circs it can't be inhibiting natural healing and can only help because of pain-killing properties aiding sleep and so on. No doubt I'm wrong and one of those people who causes doctors to give up and go and work in Africa where they are appreciated.

stuffitllama · 30/12/2008 12:32

in fact I'd be very surprised if there aren't more of us like that

stuffitllama · 30/12/2008 12:33

on here I mean.. veggers driving doctors to drink

mangolassi · 30/12/2008 13:24

pmsl at franny, have nothing else to add except

Congratulations, tiny

FrannyandZooey · 30/12/2008 13:49
