For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

So eloquent, these proper men

Boco · 11/12/2008 22:04

My dp has never done that on youtube. He must be fuckin gay.

FrayedKnot · 11/12/2008 22:06

Oh sorry I hadn;t read the comments - I think I might post an Anne like comment in response

"Yes he does look deliciously gay, doesn;t he - isn;t it marvellous!"

I lurk and wade through the thread on a regulalr basis you know.

Sometimes I start reading it at work in the morning and don;t actually manage to post until 8 at night.

Franny are you actually doing Christmassy food & stuff tomorrow?

SmilesLikeNoOther · 11/12/2008 22:36

Boco..I was just reading about elderflower cordial as I am adding it to my chamomile tea to make it more palatable and apparently it is very soothing for colds, flu and as a natural decongestant.
I don't know if you could give it to Evie. I use one by Belvoir, which is quite nice.

lol franny, there you go ya see, me and my moonfairy outlook on the world.

I'm NOT tired, bugger. And I've done all my ironing. Do you think I could slip out for a run?

Hugs to Toot, and DS.

SuperBunny · 11/12/2008 22:54

Where IS Toot tonight?

Go for a run, smiles. If it is safe

TooTicky · 11/12/2008 22:59

Smiles, did I tell you not to have too much chamomile? I meant to. [stern]

Boco, I know I have evangelised to you about homeopathy before but I would really recommend seeing one (that I recommend!) for Evie. I can email you a phone number, you could just have a chat without obligation? Sounds like you are doing brilliantly and going with your instinct for tonight. Great big bolstering hugs {{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Ds2 still rsather miserable but is at least opening his non-sore eye. I haven't dared do the eye drops - he should have had four doses today but it seemed cruel when he can hardly bear to uncover it
Still, he is allowed to go into school tomorrow just for a theatre visit (that's the theatre visiting the school) as he has been looking forward to it. Hope he's up to it.
Poor love will have to miss a football party on Saturday though

TooTicky · 11/12/2008 23:00

Oh hello SB

TooTicky · 11/12/2008 23:03

How are you SB?

Oh, I can declare portions today [proud]:
tomato/chickpea/courgette/raisin stew (3)
carrot and swede (1)
nectarine (1)
tomato and mushroom and hummous (1)

Oh, I thought it was better than that. Still, it's not bad, is it? [hopeful]

TooTicky · 11/12/2008 23:04

Okay, I must go to bed and sleep. I am hoping to brave the shower in the morning

SuperBunny · 11/12/2008 23:07

Hope the theatre visit goes well. They are usually quite good fun.

SuperBunny · 11/12/2008 23:10

Well done on portions, Toot. Why is your shower so cold?

SmilesLikeNoOther · 12/12/2008 02:33

Hi Toot and SB!

(chastised)..I am not drinking a lot of chamomile..I promise(beseeching). I thought a cup last thing might help me sleep.

Guess what?

I sometimes think I should just get myself a job on nights somewhere and make the most of my insomnia. I might actually start a series of paintings to do at this time.

Might have had wednesday off but have to work away from home tomorrow (sulk). I really enjoy my fridays at home. Oh well it is only this week.

DS was brilliant in the school play and made everybody laugh, his comic timing was uncannily good for a 10 yr old. (proud mummy!)

mangolassi · 12/12/2008 02:53

Hey Smiles, you still up?

mangolassi · 12/12/2008 02:59

No?
S'pose I'll go and do some work then. Suck.

SuperBunny · 12/12/2008 03:06

Missed you both!

Sorry you have to work away on Friday, smiles. I have to take DS to a holiday party. Fun, fun, fun.

SmilesLikeNoOther · 12/12/2008 03:22

No, I am sort of still here but printer is playing up and the computer has decided to reconfigure itself half way through a task It will configure its way to the village pond if it does it again.

And the printed article is barely readible with a magnifying glass, but it looked fine on print preview and all my paper has gone, (or rather been shredded by a very efficient 6 yr old!).

It is my holiday dates for my customers...they won't notice my appalling technical skills if I just put it in with the Christmas cards anyway will they?

SuperBunny · 12/12/2008 03:39

Am sure it'll be fine, smiles

SmilesLikeNoOther · 12/12/2008 03:49

Are you busy SB?

SmilesLikeNoOther · 12/12/2008 03:54

Actually, looking at the time I think I will go back to bed for a couple of hours. Sorry to miss you SB.

Hope the holiday party goes well for you and DS.

FrannyandZooey · 12/12/2008 09:59

so what is the anti chamomile thing TooT?

i am doing christmas presents today, yes, but not food as they won't stay to eat here
whether because they think it is less work for me (true) or that my food is crap and my kitchen is dirty (also possibly true) i don't know

it is a slightly stressy day anyway as dp will be late home and my mum is going to stay and help me get the boys to bed
dp is at his work christmas party
which you may remember from last year when he got completely trollied and passed out on a british rail bench overimbibed slightly and was consequently late home

as we both had alcohol problems in the past, i was pg at the time, and had no idea where he was, i was slightly upset
and am a bit nervy about this year tbh
normally when we go out he feels fine saying no thanks to a drink and still enjoys himself
but i think at work he feels a twat and doesn't want to be the boring one
it is seen as slightly emasculating not to enjoy a drink isn't it?
otherwise known as
fuckin gay

FrannyandZooey · 12/12/2008 10:00

we are making shiny new pennies by dipping them in vinegar
it is very pleasing
it happens just fast enough to make it interesting to come and look at them every 5 mins

OP posts:
Boco · 12/12/2008 10:12

It's quite a luxury not having to worry about being fuckin gay isn't it. I mean we are all discussing the toxicity of chamomile, nevermind feeling pressured to drink booze until we're sick on a bus.

Have caved medication wise. She was so hot in the night, really high fever to the point of being really confused and odd. And her chest sounds really horrid. I called dr who said that pneumonia can be very dangerous in under fives and he game me the prescription so I didn't have to take any risks, so I think I have to accept I'll feel guilty whatever I do and just do it.

I feel pretty good considering I was up for hours again. I fully expect crashing low any minute.

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 12/12/2008 11:26

morning. I just braved town and the shops to do the last xmas shopping....As it goes, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Have lovely M&S £10 meal for dinner chilcken with norfolk apples and mustard and cream glaze and brocolli and apsaragus with foot shavings (paremsan etc)
And chocolate melty puds and wine. Will serve with some mash and sweet potatoe.

I want to send you all xmas cards but I have lost all your postal addies in an inbox with around a zillion emails. If anyone wants a handmade card, feel free to email me

poinsettia99divine · 12/12/2008 11:28

Boco do not feel guilty for giving E the meds - listen to what the Dr said! Dangerous for under 5s is dangerous, you ahve odne the right thing.... good luck and keep going.

Yes, TooT, what is wrong with Camomile?

Meant to say, took DS to the homeopath you recommended, TooT, so awaiting outcome, also took DS to hospital, waiting for over an hour, but our problems seem trivial compared to TooTlet and E

Franny I am sure your DP will be fine, he may have learnt from last year? Remembered the reasons that he should say no?

I know all about the pressure to drink at work, tis horrid - if I down less than 15 pints everyone says "you pregnant again?" and since I can't be it makes me a bit

I think the comments on YouTube are the best bit about it!

[daren't mention F&V]

poinsettia99divine · 12/12/2008 11:29

by the way, Mou, I think you are much steelier than you give yourself credit for
your soft squdgy exterior doesn't fool me for a moment
