For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello! Fab title Well done stuffit!

We're having cheese and potato bake. Just deciding whether to have peas or carrots. Maybe both. Do haribo count as fruit? Guess not if we can't even count nuts

FrannyandZooey · 03/12/2008 17:13

haribo = the pit

right lassi i am also a chuck it in the pan cook but if a vague description helps here goes

for soups like MrsC i would fry onions or leeks and add red lentils, then stock, then root veg which i usually steam separately for a bit as i don't like them underdone and i get impatient

for stews it is very similar but i would use mushrooms, beans, and tinned toms as well as stock

Hello

Good title although I was secretly hoping for a mention of cunting mangos. I have one.

Sister still here. Having Yule dinner today which seems to be involving much faffing. Am tired and grumpy

Borscht, grapes

filthymindedvixen · 03/12/2008 19:17

hello! great title. I love carols.

Poor ds2 (my younger one) Having horrible time at school and being bullied which I believe may well be at the root of his horrible meltdowns at school over the past month
Is a vicious circle though. He is getting bullied for being a bit socially clunky and is even more socially clunky because he is being bullied. He gets very annoying when he is trying to be friendly, making silly noises and repeating himself ad nauseum. The gets very upset when he is rejected.
God I'm worn out. If it is not one thing, then it is another. Can't help fretting a bit that it is my fault for being socially clunky and teaching him badly. And that he will end up a miserable young man with no friends.

I know, I know, my rational side tells me this is a blip and it will pass etc. But I'm only human....

filthymindedvixen · 03/12/2008 19:19

Oh I'll sit in the pit - after some very good f&V days, I can only produce a clementine and a side salad today
But I hate fizzy drinks...may I just have wine please?

TooTicky · 03/12/2008 19:45

That sounds horrid fmv
Do you have a local Woodcraft Folk group? I only ask because my ds1 is, I suppose, clunky yet walked into Woodcraft and made instant friends. Different kind of people, y'see? And a boost to his confidence may help with his clunkiness.

Mango, soup is easy once you've done it once or twice. The seasoning can make or break it though.
Does it really get cold there?

TooTicky · 03/12/2008 19:46

Roast carrots? Really?

TooTicky · 03/12/2008 19:48

I love the title, it's very singable

fmf ds1 is excrutiating when he is trying to ingratiate himself with someone he admires

mind you probably so am I

a different group of friends is a good idea
i know a rather charming but socially clunky young man who runs games club for kids eg d+d stuff, yu-gi-oh etc
he says a lot of the kids there are bullied and get confidence from the club, which has helped with problems at school

OP posts:
filthymindedvixen · 03/12/2008 20:35

Franny, was I excrutiating when I met you? I can identify with that...

God he is so lovely and earnest and funny and law-abiding at home. But when something is unfair he just totally loses it!
So he winds people up with his excruciatingness, they react and tease him. That is unfair so he explodes. Sometimes he hurts them...

Why did I not stick to kittens?

pinkspottywellies · 03/12/2008 21:10

to hear about ds problems FMV. It's not fair is it

Glad I'm not in the pit on my own Love the veggy vest!

SmilesLikeNoOther · 03/12/2008 21:16

A little quickie to get me on the thread and say hi to all, but am going to sink into the pit with pink and her diet-coke good company, and if I'm drinking it I may as well go the whole hog and have the fantasy as well........[dreamy emoticon].
Will catch up later, especially fmv, you have my heartfelt sympathies.
