For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Hell's bell's. A minxy FMV - and I thought I was going to be talking about veg!

Guadalupe · 07/10/2008 17:14

Hello, Franny! You sounds chirpy, hope you and the boys doing well. DD asked about your ds this morning actually, she said there was a boy with the same name and he looked the same at school.

I have lost half a stone in a week.

And...

I have just bought a house [

Well, had an offer accepted. Dreadful time to buy but it's a wreck and VERY CHEAP and scabby and has been rented for yonks as two flats and there are probably notifiable diseases in the carpet but underneath all the yuk it is fairly untouched and amazingly, for a conversion, it has most of it's original features. Am quite excited but very scared!
I never thought I'd be brave enough to go for a complete renovation project.

Hello new people.

fullmoonfiend · 07/10/2008 17:19

oh!
My!
Guad!!!

OP posts:
OsmosisBanana · 07/10/2008 17:21

i am very Guad, a good project. Despite having a wreck all of my own, it is a 1930's wreck which isn't quite as inspiring!

TooTicky · 07/10/2008 17:21

Is this an additional house or are you moving? It all sounds very exciting.

Hello and welcome Daisy

Veg cobbler.

Have to rush, is Woodcraft this evening.

daisy99divine · 07/10/2008 17:23

OOO
congratulations on buying house
we bought a house 3 years ago. It was a wreck and empty and smelly. with squatters - not that we knew that for a while

It's amazing how quickly old grotty bits of house can be ripped out
and how long it takes to put things back in
my DS was born 10 months into the project (and 4 months after the builders PROMISED they would have left)

we lived in one room (me, DH, DS and LARGE dog) for DS's first 6 months

now we have big house, still a bit tatty but lovely - and a Northern Rock mortgage EEK

OsmosisBanana · 07/10/2008 17:28

yes, my sister has a mortgage with Northern Rock. In one of those new build high rise blocks in Leeds they keep bangig on about. Doesn't get much worse than that.... Poor ol' fruit.

Where is DH?????? I am hungry and want to get dinner on the go.

Guadalupe · 07/10/2008 17:45

LOL at oh my guad

It is in addition to here for now while we do it up, well, partially anyway. Then we have to sell this house to get the rest of the money to do it. We wouldn't have got it if we had to sell as nothing is moving fast in this market, it was going up for auction on monday so we had to get the man to take it off and could only do that as can move quickly. At an auction it is the exchange and no way could my nerves take it. Think it would have gone for more there as there was a LOT of interest. It's big, five bedrooms once the upstairs kitchen is gone.

I had gin for dinner yesterday and have hardly slept last night and dh is in the solicitors and in a minute we have to go and look round ds1's high school. I am a bit wires really.

Guadalupe · 07/10/2008 17:47

wired

Boco · 07/10/2008 17:53

Bloody hell Guad! How did that happen? Where is it? So, now you're a two house family? That's so exciting. You Guads are very impulsive in a good exciting way.

Hello Franny nice to see you back, glad it's going well and the boys are good. DD is kind of better - well she's over the pneumonia but she's still not right yet, not eating properly and very pale and skinny - am a bit worried in a kind of unsettled vague way, but she has an assessment at the hospital next week with maybe a scan of her lungs to see if there's an underlying reason so hopefully will be reassured by that.

Have been mad busy getting these pictures ready for the Secrets exhibition. Deadline tomorrow and only sent them this afternoon. Friend brought over new baby today and while cooing over baby, dd2 ADDED to one of my pictures! Buggered it up a bit and she was sent to her room while I tried to fix it. Very bad. Is done though, so that's good. Have been working really late at night and my eyes don't work.

Have had patch testing for allergy rash this week so I have grid of chemical dots all over back, is very itchy so i'm guessing i'm allergic to one of them. back to hosp tomorrow and friday.

fullmoonfiend · 07/10/2008 18:00

yes, am I allowed to laugh at my own puns??

that is bloody exciting though Guad! And scary...

My nerves are in peices with just the secondary school thing (3 open evenings this week AND a letter from the LEA saying ''don't forget, you must post your form by 24th or else your child will have to go to Bash Street High and will smell of wee and never get anywhere in life''

Hello

FrannyandZooey · 07/10/2008 18:20

oh shite now I have to lurk to see if anyone has replied to me
arse
I am not on a break because I have just had a baby, I am on a break because I am slightly losing my marbles
or is that the same thing?
after this morning I kept thinking of things I wanted to tell you
like my appalling medical problem which only TooT would bear to listen to
and that I have swangled some cheap life coaching also, like Boco and FMF
and that I really, truly, really am eating a ton of f+v
and that I googled 100 and she really really really has got a book coming out as opposed to just pretending and this was quite wonderfully odd (don't worry she knows I googled her)
and that I phoned Avi and Mr Avi was on the answerphone and I was going to phone AGAIN so I could hear him twice
and that I still use the soap and hand cream you lovely veggers sent me every day and I think of you all

FrannyandZooey · 07/10/2008 18:22

guad i can't believe it
blimey
i also LOLed at oh my guad

i like daisy can we keep her

fullmoonfiend · 07/10/2008 18:34

And I have just bumped into Charleesunny sun gal on another thread and I said I missed her perkiness so she may come back

FrayedKnot · 07/10/2008 19:11

Wow Guad that is soemthing I have oft dreamed of doing

Norfolk is a good place for finding complete wrecks and doing them up, or it used to be

Franny if you are still a-lurking, did teh loss of marbles co-incide with the arrival of DS2? If so perhaps there is a possible connection

Boco how long til the Secrets thing is on? You can have a lovely rest tonight though?

I am off to chuck my chakras about ina minute

I won a bargain dress off e-Bay for a Christmas party and I am so chuffed. The sort of thing that costs about £150 new and I got it for £20. It arrived today and it fits! Quite cosily though - so if you see me eating cake in December, please remind me

fullmoonfiend · 07/10/2008 19:16

oooh I love a bargain...link??

pinkspottywellies · 07/10/2008 19:40

Hellooooo! Welcome Daisy. I like you already. Stay.

Guad, sounds very exciting! And will give you enough bedrooms when it's finished Is ds2 still in with you? Is the new house far away? And well done on the weight loss. How did you lose that much so quickly

I'd got to 5 I think at lunchtime and had roasted veg and sausages for dinner so must've been about 4 portions of veg. I have a HUGE pineapple in the kitchen but someone said the other day that you're not meant to eat too much pineapple when pg because of the bringing on labour thing but you have to eat several and twiddle your nipples for days for that to work don't you?

OsmosisBanana · 07/10/2008 20:00

Hello SB! long time no fruityness.

filthymindedvixen · 07/10/2008 20:08

whsipers to Franny. I quite like to hear about applling medical problems.. Even poo-related ones. I have no squeam.

NotBigNotClever · 07/10/2008 21:20

Evening all. Haven't done very well on the F&V front today:grapes, tomatoes, celery, more tomatoes, peas. Oh, and Jaffa cakes . Our dog is poorly and a bit overwrought at the mo', following an operation last week, and got me up at 2am - so I thought I might as well stay up and work (funnily enough, the dcs actually both slept through for once ). Am now feeling a bit crap. And I still have to get more work done tonight. Will soon run out of Jaffa cakes and may have to switch to bananas.

S1ur · 07/10/2008 21:47

Evening all my lovelies!

I am happy to see shiny new faces and also shiny but less new ones.

Fran me ol mucker, fab that life is good for you if a little hectic and mysterious.

Oooooh Guady a second house, ambitious and exciting - jolly good luck.

Yes yes pinky, eat the pineapple you have to eat a wheelbarrow full I think, and nipple twiddle and go on a bumpy bus ride. So, as long as you avoid doing all those things simultaeously you should be a-okay.

I have been a good fruity bitch today, every time I went into the kitchen to snack at inappropriate times inbetween meals I ate grapes or plums or dried cranberries.

I am feeling smug, and a bit sick of grapes.

pinkspottywellies · 07/10/2008 22:06

1800 steps on stepper! It's taking me ages though nowadays! Anyone else want to tell us what exercise they've done [smug]

I had diet coke tonight

Guadalupe · 07/10/2008 22:08

Thanks! I am trying not think about it too much, until I have the keys in my hand I won't relax and even then I will probably wonder what n earth I am doing.

It's not exactly a second house, we will sell this as soon as we can but we have to do it this way to have a chance so we will be utterly and totally skint paying two mortages and if we can't sell it here we will have to rent it and if we can't rent it then we're buggered.

But I am not thinking about that. La la la.

Boco - it's just down the road, on a main road in fact and next to a zebra crossing, and the garden is smaller and just full of mud and glass but when I went there on my own at night and stood in the porch I didnt mind the road and I wasn't spooked though a bit jumpy and it felt like my front door and it said please make me a nice house again.

Pink - I think the stress added to it this week tbh.

Franny - Are you worried about your marbles? I think I felt most like my were rolling away going from one to two children but they came back slowly. Well, at least I think they did.

I liked the school, ds preferred the other one that I dont want him to go to. Hmmm. Might have to do a bit of spin.

FrayedKnot · 07/10/2008 22:09

Yoga, Pink

although I fell asleep in relaxation

Not sure how that constitutes exercise tbh
