For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

my eyelid has swollen up. i demise from this that I have been nibbled by a fruit fly as this is what happens when ever one comes near.

And just today i was wittering on about how I thought they were all dead.

Now I look like a freak and there is no piriton.

bah!

VB thing went well. I am the annoying one who talks too much in seminars though. How shit. Hopefully all the 18 year olds will figure out how to speak soon.

poshtottie · 06/10/2008 20:41

Osmosisbanana, can I have your crunch slaw recipe you mentioned earlier? I love fennel.
TIA

pinkspottywellies · 06/10/2008 21:00

OsBa my uni peers never learnt to speak! It was always me [gobby inquisitive] and a couple of mature students who talked/debated/questionned and the others never piped up even after we'd been with each other for 3 years!

pinkspottywellies · 06/10/2008 21:23

Oh, and did I mention a pear and a kiwi Night all x

FrootFly · 06/10/2008 22:54

I had such a shock earlier. I thought I'd found a yummy banana so I had a nibble but then it opened an eye. It set me all a-buzz. Must look more carefully in future.

mou · 07/10/2008 07:32

...what a nice welcome back!! i'm overwhelmed.

I will check out Ravelry, but i'm no good at following patterns and make it up in my head.
Still can't get my links to open.

What was the eye attatched to FF ?

I did an arts course OB, students very gobby opinionated, lots of 'heated' debates, just smiling at the memories....
Apricots and apple juice already.

fullmoonfiend · 07/10/2008 08:36

glad it went well OB, and lol at fruitfly (not at you being bitten, just the poster!)

hello bitches
not back properly but saying hello and sending love to you all
have been asked for update
boys are fab
am eating loads of f+v!
back to work next week, toddler session booked out completely which has never happened before
I think people have forgotten how crap ramshackle my groups are while I was away
baby group is basically me and ds2 atm - the break has ruined my regular clientele for that one as they have all grown up

how is mn? i heard there was troll trouble. did it all blow over? have tried to skin read last two threads and failed. what happened to that tittybangbang person, I liked her. Get her back, FMF (p.s. you are indeed doing fab job).

hello paps!

FrannyandZooey · 07/10/2008 10:14

oh is Boco's dd all better now?

OsmosisBanana · 07/10/2008 11:15

Hi Fran, hope work goes ok!

Poshtottie - That slaw recipe thingy is as follows...

You need a mandolin really otherwise you'll go mental trying to slice it all up finely.... but a food processer with necessary attachment would work too.

1 head fennel
2 large carrots
a handful of radishes
one red onion
about half a medium red cabbage

but you can mix n match as you like. DH doesn't like radishes much so I usually leave them out. The actual recipe calls for celeriac too and no carrots but again, DH not a fan.

then mix it all up with 150g 0% fat greek youghurt (I use the Total stuff), 1 tspn dijon mustard and 2 tspn sherry vinegar and S&P.

It makes A LOT would easily feed 4 as a side.

Really good with the crunchy chicken, unless you're veggie and then I guess chicken not so good!

banana
slaw (about 2 portions of V)

not a bad start.

womblingalong · 07/10/2008 11:33

Hello Veggers

Franny - hello! How are you my sweet?

Welcom Posh and NBNC. and hello to all veggers old and new.

F&V total today is one tiny mouthful of DS banana, to check for ripeness.

Back at work this week, and am off my food with the stress of being back.

Have some sandwiches with salad in for lunch, and a nectarine and grapes, which I will try and eat, but just couldn't face breakfast.

OsmosisBanana · 07/10/2008 12:11

That doesn't sound good Wombling. I'm sure chocolate is more appropriate in times of stress than a sandwich and a nectarine.

poshtottie · 07/10/2008 12:15

Osmosisbanana, thanks for the recipe.

Have only managed orange juice for breakfast so far
If I could make 5 portions I would be happy.

TigerFeet · 07/10/2008 12:23

Wombling hope you get into the swing of things soon

Nice to see you Fran but am you are going back to work a mere four weeks after ds2's birth (it is only 4 weeks isn't it? time passes so erratically in the Feet household)

Apple
Fruit Salad (2)
Melon
A sniff of spinach
Salad (2)

I must eat less fruit and more veg - far too much sugar going in atm I reckon.

Have added self to MN group on Ravelry. Am yet to knit a stitch though

MamaG · 07/10/2008 12:27

Glad the boys are good

fullmoonfiend · 07/10/2008 13:11

Franny! Franny! Franny!

Glad you haven't forsaken us totally. Good luck with toddler group running (which sounds all rather too energetic for a new mum if you arsks me....)

Do you like the title? I was considering Hotel Cauli-Frannia but thought it was too convoluted

pinkspottywellies · 07/10/2008 14:21

Nice to see you Franster. TF I think he's 11 weeks now!!

Not a bad day today, pear, oj, bite of banana, tomatoes, cuc, tomato soup, avocado (half, the rest is calling me). So about 5, lots of fruit in the house and roast veg for tea.

My lovely dd is sitting up in her cot counting. One, two, three, four, five, six, senna, six!! She either does that or gets to six and then eightnine!

OsmosisBanana · 07/10/2008 14:55

DD does that to PSW, so funny. I like listening to her burbling away in her cot. We get 'twinkle twinkle' though which turns into 'row your boat' half way through.

I have to write a page on the benefits / pitfalls of doing research on t'internet. Pah!

OsmosisBanana · 07/10/2008 14:56

too not to, that would be weird seeing as they don't know each other

fullmoonfiend · 07/10/2008 15:00

page? Can be condensed into 2 sentences...
Benefits: bloody quick
Cons: it's all lies written by delusionists

OP posts:
pinkspottywellies · 07/10/2008 15:09

Delusionists and hairy arsed truckers

daisy99divine · 07/10/2008 15:48

fullmoonfiend · 07/10/2008 16:16
