For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

OK, am now going to get back to work and not think about pumpkin scones with cheese. At all. No, not even a bit...

TigerFeet · 06/10/2008 11:19

Star mag in the name of research only OsBa so that you can come up with non-obvious assignment material

I also have pumpkin envy. Ours failed too . I also have problems with my compost, in that a rampant climber has grown so quickly around my compost bin that I can't actually get to it. Hopefully it'll stop raining long enough at the weekend for me to hack back and sort it out. I wonder what's growing in mine?

Pumpkin pie is nice allegedly but have never tried it myself

OsmosisBanana · 06/10/2008 11:20

heh heh... always the voice of badness

TigerFeet · 06/10/2008 11:22

Does anyone actually keep cooking sherry in their cupboards? Or is it just me that's too much of a lush to keep it there undrunk?

OsmosisBanana · 06/10/2008 11:23

i don't like pumpkin pie.

it's weird. Strange texture. I think it might be one of those foods that can only be bought in it's correct country of origin for it to taste good ie America.

I like most food. Not aubergine though. It looks like slugs when cut up and cooked. Prob tastes the same too.

The lid of our compost bin blew off at the w/e. I haven't done anything about it yet. We haven't been composting of late as out back door has been bricked up and we have no way of getting out of our patio doors yet. Walking out of the front door, now that would require effort.

I am rubbish, will start again this week. Now that the fruit flies are all dead.

OsmosisBanana · 06/10/2008 11:24

right, off to flog my thoughts on Star. Laterz potaterz.

MamaG · 06/10/2008 12:19

TooTicky · 06/10/2008 13:31

Ooh, that is a good title

Papillon, I was so interested in your book that I burnt my toast
Are you a native NZer?

Dd1 used to do dinosaur-shaped poos which had to be kept in the potty all day, until daddy came home and admired them
Don't ever tell her I told you this

I have one sizeable pumpkin (mystery gourd turned orange ). The plants seem to be setting fruit rather late - lots of tiny ones appeared recently. Do they survive frost?

Welcome NBNC Send your gourds this way and I will roast them with garlic and eat them for you.

TooTicky · 06/10/2008 13:32

TF, I don't keep any sherry. I think it's vile.

mou · 06/10/2008 14:05

Ace idea to have veggie patch near a pond NBNC, might try that. Our garden is away from the house and we have some very well fed slugs. And onions growing in the compost bin.
Brill title!!!!
Apricots.
Apple juice.
Raisins
mmmm not a good start, dashing out soon to get some nuts as have run out. aaaggghhh. Making spiced tometo soup later though.
Have just been for a run and feel on top of the world.

TooTicky · 06/10/2008 14:11

Hello Mou, are you on Ravelry?

fullmoonfiend · 06/10/2008 14:12

hello mou, where have you been hiding then?

I want a pond on my allotment. I planned oe last year but DH would not help me get pond liner. I will try harder this year

You copuld have a swaMP [SMILE]

TooTicky · 06/10/2008 14:16

Ach, bad typing!

NotBigNotClever · 06/10/2008 14:31

I made a new pond last year, all by myself. Is quite easy, even for a nitwit like me - although it is looking a bit swamp-like at the mo' as I stupidly transferred some duckweed from the old pond (duh). But it's definitely a wild wildlife pond.

So, roasted pumpkin with garlic, you say, TooTicky? Have definitely got enough squashes stored in the shed to try out many different dishes and annoy ds in a variety of different ways. ("They is all scusting" - I can hear it already).

TigerFeet · 06/10/2008 14:43

I registered on Ravelry a while back. I am inclined to start knitting but haven't yet got organised. Are you all on there then???

fullmoonfiend · 06/10/2008 15:22

I can do the digging abnd everything., But I don't drive so need dh to go and get some liner. Not a big deal you might think...

Fab fred title!

mou · 06/10/2008 17:46

Not on Ravelry...don't know what it is,
I haven't been hiding, computer went down and think i was spending toooo much time on MN!!(if you can do that). got a bit shy when lots of new names came back to thread, felt a bit pushy, No ones fault, i'm a wimp.
Put too much pepper in my spicy tomato soup and now I can't taste anthing!!!!

TooTicky · 06/10/2008 18:13

mou, Ravelry is a knitters/crocheters website with lots of patterns and things. Some of us are on there.

NBNC, crushed garlic, olive oil, salt & pepper - completely droolsome. None of my dcs like it though and I have a feeling I wouldn't have liked it as a child. I am positively craving it atm (not pg I hasten to add!)

I am eating cucumber on tahini on toast. I peeled a grapefruit earlier.

TooTicky · 06/10/2008 18:14

Mou, do stay
I get strangely shy and paranoid when I am pre-menstrual but they all put up with me beautifully.

pinkspottywellies · 06/10/2008 18:20

Funny mou! You have to just barge in and say hi (although having been here for over a year, I once had a few days when I hadn't been on then felt a bit overwhelmed cause there were new people and jokes that I'd missed etc! It took me a couple more days to come back )

Dried apricots, plums, oj, chocolatecake (remind me where we stand on including cocoa bean products? [hopeful]), spinach, carrots, broccoli, sweet potato, sweetcorn (in fish pie). Nearly there.

TooT glad you had a great weekend. OsBa I hope the VB thing went ok. TF that soup sounds lovely.

Pap nice to see you popping in! Franny is having a sabbatical.

TooTicky · 06/10/2008 18:22

Yeah yeah, cocoa beans are fine. The more the better. In fact, they count as two portions.

fullmoonfiend · 06/10/2008 18:39

Mou - come back!

Hello. Have just cooked an odd mushroom biryani with a tad too much spice. Amd hoping the spice will make dh forget there is no meat in tonight's offering.

I planted redcurrant bushes and loganberry bushes today and tried to ignore how many weeds there are on my plot.

ds1 cycled to school and backby himself on his bike. I tried not to clockwatch him on the way home, but still panicked when he was 20 mins later than I thought he would be. He and HumphCushion's son are setting up a film-making business together apparently
