For anyone who wants a boost to their general health (and to talk bobbins with a load of fruity nutters). The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Not a fruitility room then?

Boco · 01/10/2008 23:10

well, there is a large bag of apples in there. So, maybe.

toot gp appointment? How are you feeling?

TooTicky · 01/10/2008 23:13

Yeah, maybe. I don't even know who the gps are, they keep changing.
I was out for most of today and didn't drink much. Feeling a bit twingey. And my head is dehydrated. Ought to sleep really but buns are baking.

Boco · 01/10/2008 23:19

Doesn't matter who they are, just call in the morning and get an appointment. Is important.

TooTicky · 01/10/2008 23:20

Boco, when is your test? Glad the lesson went well.

FK, good luck with the job
(advice noted, thank you...)

Pink, hope the chips were nice.

Zippi, good luck with the interview.

Tattieeeeeees, thank you for my beauuuutiful card!!! I can't email atm - messages come in but don't go out for some reason.

Fmv - hello

Did I mention we are doing odd things in mud at the weekend?

TooTicky · 01/10/2008 23:21

Hmm yes well maybe. They're a bit funny about appointments.

Boco · 01/10/2008 23:21

In about a month - lets not talk about it as it makes me queasy.

TooTicky · 01/10/2008 23:23

Okay

Turned chilly, hasn't it?

MamaG · 01/10/2008 23:24

Evening all

Not been on, been panicking pregnantly again

I might have to resign F&V because

(a) I'm crap at eating F&V at hte moment
(b) My exercising is practically nil
(c) I can't keep up with the threads
(d) I can never think of a witty title

TooTicky · 01/10/2008 23:27
berolina · 01/10/2008 23:29

evening. Just visiting again as am still on a break

TooT love, do go to the doctor.

FK, go on, apply

Boco, I could have written 'I keep deciding to give up because I can't think of what to draw', except with 'write' at the end. I am sort of half a writer. I do poems but nobody wants poems. That said, I am feeling fairly energised and fulfilled right now - have been planning a seminar tonight, that I'm going to present my academic book project at, and oh goodness I love academic work so much. I must get out of my job

As I was coming home from work the rain clouds were clearing and I looked over the railway bridge with the view all the way to the centre of Berlin and the television tower, and there was an almost vertical rainbow rising just behind it not quite like this but not far off, and then I walked more or less straight into a low orange sun. Gorgeous.

Tatties how are you?

pear, apple, grapes, plum, cucumber, er...

berolina · 01/10/2008 23:30

(FMF did you get my email?)

TooTicky · 01/10/2008 23:31

Rainbow sounds gorgeous. Seminar is a scary word. It conjures up images of having to get up and speak in front of people.

berolina · 01/10/2008 23:36

oh I can speak in front of people, having done it as my job for 3 years (partly in front of students who sat in the first row muttering about how I was a Bad Mother because I Worked ). Other things I find scary. Wasps. Driving. Visiting my parents.

Tatties · 02/10/2008 00:53

Ooh I have stayed up too late tonight. Been knitting lots

TooT darling you are absolutely very welcome for the card Did you have a nice birthday? And what muddy things will you be up to at the weekend?

Yes things seem to be moving here now, hopefully it will all be done and dusted very soon. I can feel a massive weight lifting already

MamaG don't resign

SuperBunny · 02/10/2008 01:01

Oh Tatties, I just wanted you to know, I made your carrot cake last week and it was fabulous. Am not really posting on here any more but wanted to say thank you.

Tatties · 02/10/2008 01:05

SuperBunny, my trusty cakes and bakes book must take all the credit though

berolina · 02/10/2008 08:15

morning all

why no longer posting SB? Sounds more than a 'break'.

An enormous apple that I feel entirely justified in counting as 2; 2 tiny plums that I know have to count as 1; a banana; sunflower seed bread; and OJ. 5.

zippitippitoes · 02/10/2008 08:42

SB - Don't you dare leave!

TooT I want to hear about odd muddy weekends (AND i LOLLED AT fRUITILITY ROOM

Boco, well done about cleaning cupboards.
I am going to avoid all MN threads (especially bloody troll threads) except this one. Because I larrrve you all.

Pink, you are allowed chips.

fullmoonfiend · 02/10/2008 08:45

yes BERO, THANK YOU for your ideas. We have managed 4 veggie meals this week (a miracle for DH who eats anything but tends to mutter about ''lovely, what's for main course though'' if there is no meat involved)

fullmoonfiend · 02/10/2008 08:48

Oh! OH! Great thread title fopr next one!

Welcome to the Hotel Cauli-Fornia - you can check out any time you like - but you can NEVER leave!

zippitippitoes · 02/10/2008 08:50

that is a bfrilliant title

i have been trying to leave lately

it is like most unwanted addictions tho you end up doing it worse and with less enjoyment

littlerach · 02/10/2008 08:51

Autumn is here properly now.

it is chilly.

Dh broke down on the M5 yeasterday evening, was towed by RAC who couldn't fix the car. So another garage towed him a bit more and they said they couldn't bring him all the way home til next week. Luckily they lent him a courtesy car and the car will come here on Monday.

So he arrived home at 9.30pm last night, and I was too absorbed in trolls and other threads to really see him .

TT, hope you feel better.

OsmosisBanana · 02/10/2008 10:58

morning all.

What is all this talk of leaving and breaks? Why???? Why??????????

Am doing good things at uni, spent 4 hours in the library yesterday writing notes from a book we are just supposed to be reading but I find I'm not very good at remembering things I've read at the mo so am writing everything out until I get better at remembering. If that makes sense! I haven't written so much for years.

Then did another 2 hours (interspersed with shouting at DD and the dog who has been on the new leather sofa again and scratching it. Grr.)

That is more work than I did in my entire time at university last time

Have left my lunch at home though. That is 2 days in a row. I think subconsciously I don't want salad with boiled egg for lunch and am avoiding it until it has gone off!

I have 'Understanding Health' today. Whatever that means. What is there to understand? I guess they'll tell me yes?

I need something to do this w/e as DH working solidly throughout. Any suggestions? Please don't say 'nice long walk in the countryside' I don't know where that is.
