For anyone who wants a boost to their general health (and to talk bobbins with a load of fruity nutters). The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I'm pretty new to this thread Boco but still wishing you all the best for DD.

Went jogging in a field that has a herd of cows in it, i'm not bothered as i grew up in the country, but they started running after me so i'd stop, clap my hands, they would stop, i'd start walking for a few yards and then start running again. This happened four times so i jumped up and down flapping my arms shouting "stop bleepimg chasing me!!"....... And then a fisherman popped his head up from the riverbank, laughing at me . Might not go that way for a while.......

MamaG · 22/09/2008 12:07

Glad DD's on good form boco

Guadalupe · 22/09/2008 12:45

lol at the fisherman, Mou.

Glad dd is on the mend, boco. Ask your intructor if you can pull up outside rainbow's in town and pop in for apple rings!

Very weird weather today. It was sunny in town and now it's all dark and gloomy with black rain clouds. I need to dry washing. The boys got so muddy at the weekend, we went with other friends and also ds1 took a friend so there were loads of boys in the mud sliding down the banks into the creek. THE MUD GETS EVERYWHERE.

It was very funny though, as they didn't take towels to the shower, they were ahead of us and went straight in as we'd threatened to hose them down, so of course when they came out they all had to run nekkid back across the field with their hands held down for modesty. They were roaring as they ran, all five of them, it was quite a sight. i got photos.

littlerach · 22/09/2008 13:47

Good afternoon all.

We are still very quiet here, we Must Do Better.

Boco, glad dd is bit better, that must have been rather scarey.

WE said goodbye to BIL yesterday as he is off to Iraq in a couple of weeks. Hope dsis will be okay.

Dds are pleased to ba back at school now. In fact on saturday dd2 said she wanted to go to school as it is boring at home.

Lots of food, some F&V, lots not

Some delicious pears.

Have just read the message I wrote last night. Suspect I might have been making the GnT's a bit stronger than I thought.....

First day - very boring.

We had to do an 'orienteering questionnaire'. What does the sign above the lecture theatre in Wellow say and the like.

Then the usual 'get into pairs and get to know each other then tell the rest of the group about your partner'

Grimness!!! I hate that wanky team building BS.

Still registration was a piece of piss so very happy about that.

DH was sick 8 times last night. Normally I would say food poisoning but I did all the cooking and ate the same as he...... Poor ol fruit. Not a good way to see in your 37th year

PSW - thanks for the card that was very sweet of you, you have the same handwriting as my sister!

Boco - how is the little 'un? More pressingly have you resolved apple ring crisis?

lots of salad
6 cherry toms
juice
am about to make salsa which will prob end up eating most of before it gets to the 'bombay burgers' i have a recipe for.

As far as I can tell, they are burgers made from rump steak served in a chapati. Whatever!

So about 4-5... Will eat some pineapple. And a banana.

filthymindedvixen · 22/09/2008 16:37

Guad your roasts always put mine to shame. We had sausage, mash and yorkshires tonight with the usual 'roast dinner' veg of steamed broccoli and parsnip (would normally roast) and swede and carrot mashed together (which I LOVE!). All fine, nothing wrong with that but then I come on here and see yours and think mine is boring.

OsBa you do have some runs of bad luck but you tell a cracking tale afterwards

Boco hope you got the apple rings

stuffitllama · 22/09/2008 19:59

woo hoo

guess who just got internet installed at home! how the devil are you all?

Am looking forward to settling down and catching up or shall i just dive straight in ..

It's all fine here and we are getting used to it. There were seriously bad early wobbles, particularly with ds1 (much previous in this area) and it's definitely toughest posting have ever done but things are getting better now

fruit and veg intake highest ever and will improve further.. am about 70 per cent veggie now. we had bananas from the garden last week and have just planted masses of cabbage, broccoli, ladyfingers and other stuff

golly how are you all?

stuffitllama · 22/09/2008 20:16

the curse of the tumbleweed strikes again

it's all in the timing isnt' it.. i'm off to bed for early school run at six but talk to you tomorrow I hope

xxxx

pinkspottywellies · 22/09/2008 20:16

Stuffiiiiiiiiiiit!!!!!!! Yay! Garden sounds fab. We had parsnips from the garden tonight but bananas!!!!!!!! Wow.

Great to see you back. I'm rubbish at doing round ups but.....

Franny is having a break. Have you heard that she has a ds2 (think you've popped in since?)
BBB flies in occasionally when not drinking coffee
Boco's doing really well at driving and has practically passed her test. Her dd has got another bout of pneumonia but is much better today
Errrrr......

pinkspottywellies · 22/09/2008 20:20

Guad has a camper van and does fab things with veg.
OB has bad luck but has had fab times at some festivals over the summer.
UR is now SuperBunny and can't find a boys apron. I saw loads at the car boot sale the other day. Thomas and trucks and animals and all sorts of boy suitable ones and wanted to get one to send but didn't know how much postage would cost.
Littlerach's little one now likes school better than home
TooT plays mean tricks with apples. How's DS2's eye TooT? Can't remember where you're at with that.
MamaG is about to have a baby and I'm due in Feb.

pinkspottywellies · 22/09/2008 20:22

Oh. Please don't have gone to bed after all that!

FrayedKnot · 22/09/2008 20:38

Hello everyone

to Stuffit...lovely to see you, wow - bananas in garden

Have gymned today

Bowl of fruit salad
Salad with goats cheese
More salad

Day off tomorrow

OsmosisBanana · 22/09/2008 20:44

You see - I have the magic touch. If you recall I talked about saying Stuffit 3 times in the mirror and she would appear. Don't leave us again Stuffit!

And I made Slur come back with only the merest hint of a tweak on the ear.

No bad luck today I think.

Dh is old. Har di har har. I like being married to an old giffer, it means no matter how old I get, he will always be a few miles ahead

OsmosisBanana · 22/09/2008 21:13

Do pickled onions count?

I've eaten about 18.

(it's a cunning ruse to get out of having sex )

FrayedKnot · 22/09/2008 21:46

OB, your DH is two years younger than me. Well, nearly

SuperBunny · 23/09/2008 00:24

LOL @ mou's fisherman

Guad, the boys' muddy escapades sound lovely.

Hello Stuffit

Thanks for thinking of me at the car boot, PSW. Postage is quite a lot so probably best not to have picked anything up but was nice that you remembered.

Took DS to Legoland for his birthday today. Was lovely. He's so grown up though. Made me feel a bit sad but he is wonderful and perfect the way he is [stupidly emotional]

Salady things
Carrot cake
salady stuff
salad
carrot cake

SuperBunny · 23/09/2008 00:25

Oh, I forgot - I am at work and when I checked the book to see who is staying here, the first name was Marvin Gaye

How cool is that?!

BBBee · 23/09/2008 06:56

hello

hope all is well and fruitsome.

Pink - I know about the tiffin

OB - hope course goes well, hope you enjoy it.

hope boco is back soon al healthy.

bye for nows bitches

stuffitllama · 23/09/2008 06:56

Thanks for the fantastic round up pink and congratulations I did not know you were expecting my dear! How did I miss it, you must now be four months so that's how.. How are you feeling, were you sick? Feb is a great great time to do it, I have a January and the nice weather comes just when one needs it. Mamag hope everything goes well for you

Hi superbunny what prompted the name change, and how is your situation with the thing? Is it better? You must have got something sorted out to still be there?

OB yes I am like the bad witch pitching up willy nilly.. sorry to hear about your rotten luck.. let's get to the gritty stuff yes i'm sure pickled onions count -- I asked Fran once I think. 18 must do you some good as payback for what they do to your bottom. Why is Fran taking a break? I did manage to check in as I wanted to hear about Lucien. I only vaguely gathered about a stay in hospital, I hope things are OK.

Boco news about driving is fab. When I went away it was all awful. It will transform your life -- do pass (no pressure) Toot say hello to me! Did the eye clear up with no complications? Thanks for your fb message, I have read but have so much mailing catching up to do that fb is on the backburner. The homeschooling thing is really catching on isn't it, I wish I had had the guts with my first, even if just for a couple of years.

I thought Marvin Gaye was dead. wasn't he shot by his father? Am I being a dullard?

Today omelette with onions tomatoes and coriander. Coriander is my new detoxifier and I eat loads most days or have coriander tea. Apparently it bonds with the heavy metals in your body and then you wee them out. Hurrah.
Am going to buy papaya later and eat pineapple. Am experimenting with the children and papaya so no doubt will have to eat the whole thing myself in the end and I think they're quite big.

I really really envy you the parsnips. Haven't seen one yet in this country. Will have to plant. Somebody must sell the seeds. The growing time is all over the place here but I think we can plant anything anytime and it just jumps out of the ground.

ok see you later I hope i can simulcast soon..

BBBee · 23/09/2008 06:59

oh stuffit! hello!

good to see you agian.

must dash though - work time.

TooTicky · 23/09/2008 09:15

Wow, Stuffit and Bee!! Two rarities within three minutes of each other!

Stuffit, it sounds amazing. However, I can't quite believe you have mangoes and bananas IN THE GARDEN and are missing parsnips of all things?
I have to be quite quick as dd2 and I have a bus to catch.
The current situation with ds2's eye is that he can see nary a thing out of it atm and is waiting for a cataract op which may or may not have brilliant effects.

Lots and lots of love to everybody
