For anyone who wants a boost to their general health (and to talk bobbins with a load of fruity nutters). The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh no, I have a cold too

How do you wash your hankies, toot? I use tissues because I can't decide how to clean reusable ones properly.

DS is more environmentally friendly that I am and uses his tshirt.

Off out to a 3 yr old's birthday party. Without DS. Always odd to do that. Have another this afternoon and one tomorrow too but can't face 3 children's parties by myself.

Um, no F&V. At all. Eeek. Anyone heard from Bero? Is Franny ready to come back soon?

Hope everyone has lovely weekends

pinkspottywellies · 20/09/2008 19:25

DD has a cold which she is fiendishly trying to pass on to me. I haven't succumbed so far though. She also has a cough and was losing her voice this afternoon. She looked so confused. The words weren't coming out. She couldn't figure out to cough!

DD stayed at a friend's house last night. Her first sleepover before the age of 2 Friend who was babysitting said it would be easier for them to have her at thier house. She had a great time and remembered where she was when she woke up. Apparently my friend heard her wake up and winge for a sec then said 'Beck's house? Becky!'

Not such a good day for fruit and veg today (maybe 5) but a good day for recycling. I did a car boot sale with a friend. Made about £20 and bought dd a great pop up tent/wendy house/tunnel and a bike seat for her to go on the back of ours. Just need to get our bikes fixed now. Have also decided to do another one tomorrow - we're just leaving the car packed up. Tomorrow is a 6 am start though today was a nice reasonable 12 o clock!

Hope you're all having a nice weekend. Everyone exercising??

FrayedKnot · 20/09/2008 20:03

Evening all

Sorry to hear you are suffering TooT

We are fighting them off here too.

Pink you sound very busy

FMV glad the yorkshires worked! I am crap at yorkshires myslef

WE rode a train
I ate two pears
And a fair bit of salad, twice

And some rather odd mango puree out of a tin. Thought I'd try it as it might come in handy as an emergency winter fruit portion. Not quite sure TBH

pinkspottywellies · 20/09/2008 20:17

One of the TV chefs from Yorkshire [total mental block on name. Ah, Brian Turner] says to mix equal volumes of eggs, milk and flour for yorkie puds. And fat needs to be smoking hot when you put the batter in.

Yes I do feel a bit busy now you mention it! Just watching X Factor then off to bed.

Where was the train ride? DD would go crazy for that! Then she would say to the driver 'thanks (for the) ride'

TooTicky · 20/09/2008 20:44

Sorry SB

Sort of bolognese with homegrown chard and carrots.
Apple, blackberry and rhubarb crumble. Stunningly delicious. Apples and berries from garden, rhubarb from friend's garden.
An apple earlier. Actually two.
7 altogether?

Boco is going through hell again

TooTicky · 20/09/2008 20:45

Oh, SB, I just wash them. 40 degrees, in with other whites/pale things. Sometimes add tea tree. Works fine

SuperBunny · 20/09/2008 21:18

I haven't made yorkshire puds for yonks. I hadn';t really thought of them as veggie foord but now I must make them. No tips from me - they always seem to work best when cooked in hot animal fat (beef is best) but since I can't do that anymore I'm rubbish at them.

Where did you go on the train, FK?

Mango puree?

@ homegrown chard & carrots & crumble. I'm hungry.

What's up with Boco? Can we help?

TooTicky · 20/09/2008 21:22

Boco's dd2 has been in hospital with pneumonia. There is a thread in chat.

S1ur · 20/09/2008 21:27

Oh excellent news about your puds FMV, isn't it excellent and satisfying when things just work.

Toot - sympathies and to you too Bunny.

Pinky - I am amazed at how sorted your dd must be, sleepovers, wow!

And frayed - ta the place looks much more sparkly now

I have been trying and managed prob six. avocado, apple , orange, salad, carrots and beans.

S1ur · 20/09/2008 21:29

oh just seen Boco's thread

Oh, Lots and lots of get well vibes for her dd

SuperBunny · 20/09/2008 21:37

fmv you are an absolute sweetie ds pinned the brooch on my hat & is wearing my bangles! Thankyou...
So pleased the clothes were of some use & that they actually arrived in the end.Your beetroot/feta yorkies sound delicious

MamaG · 21/09/2008 16:47

hello

Just seen boco's thread, poor things what an awful ordeal for them

I am Queen of Yorkshire Puds (veggie type!)

my recipe is

6 oz plain flour in a bowl

Put 10 oz milk and 5 oz cold water in a jug and mix. Add 2-3 eggs (2 med/large, 3 smll) and mix

Add half hte mix to the flour and mix mix mix
Bung rest in and mix mix mix until top goes bubbly.

Put whole lot in fridge, pref overnight (although I've given it 5 mins before in an "emergency"!)

Put VEG oil in the bottom of your tin (muffin type) - if you fill the first three at one end to the very top with oil, then tip the tin up, the oil runs down the tin and fills each hole perfectly (so about a quarter of the hole full of oil)

Put in a full temp oven until the oil makes a tinkly noise and is smoky hot then take it out hte oven, put the mixuytre in as fast as possible, and put back in.

DON'T SLAM THE OVEN DOOR. DON'T PEEK AT THEM until at LEAST 20 mins. Takes about 20-30 mins and they will be lovely.

I am a Yorkshire lass so I know my puddings! I'm veggie too and often have them with loads of roasted veg, pots and gravy - oh and stuffing so basically a roast withotu the meat. Yum

We are lurgy house as well - DD and i have colds and hacking coughs and I'm very sore after walkign far too long yesterday (8 farking hours with only the grass to sit on for the occasional 10 minutes - am officially a knobhead).

filthymindedvixen · 21/09/2008 17:03

Lully, gosh, &they* arrived speedily!
Glad you like; small tokens but sent with love xxx

mou · 21/09/2008 17:18

Not a lot to tell, caught someboy's cold....., and just busy with life, but had to offer my sympathies to boco even though we are not aquainted. How heartbreaking and I hope things improve.

Not felt like eating so lots of fruit and tomato juice. Managing to exercise daily but think i'm going to give it a miss today.

Knitted quite a funky bag and thought of making them to sell but I know you don't get a fair price for the work put in so am giving it some thought. DD wants one, she is such a sweety.

pinkspottywellies · 21/09/2008 18:46

Poor Boco

Car boot sale again today. RUBBISH! Didn't even cover the cost of pitch and had to have bacon sandwich there cause DH had eaten all the bread. Had to get up at 5.40 this morning and didn't get home til 4 o'clock. Stopped on the way home to dump the remainder of our stuff in the charity collection skips in Tesco car park.

Had big salad for tea, with jacket tate and tuna, having realised that all I'd had all day was aforementioned bacon sarnie and a cereal bar! Oh and orange juice and more tea than I'm used to!

Hope everyone's had lovely weekends

FrayedKnot · 21/09/2008 20:03

Oh poor Boco and DD2

Wish I still lived nearish and could have helped out with earplugs or something.

Have had lovely day with old friends over for lunch. Wish it could happen more often.

Loads of lemon cake

Mou the knitted bag sounds interesting..can you post a pic?

I am so hopless at anything crafty I love looking at other people's things

OsmosisBanana · 21/09/2008 21:36

Alright my luverlies?

I have had an ace weekend - but with the usual dose of OB bad luck.

Went to Bristol festival (a new one I think to take over from Ashton Court for those who know what I'm on about).

Was having a brilliant time, danging to an awesome Bangra band (yoghurt weaver alert) who had such an ace front man... 'right, first move goes like this - pretend you're screwing a light bulb, nxt move, pretend you're starting an old shit Indian motorbike' etc etc. V funny. Actually got involved, only one beer in! I am NOT a joiner inner.

Then discovered my phone, with DH's SIM card in with all his work contacts in had been nicked whilst I was stood by the bag.

spent next hour freaking out about DH's reponse when he turned up. He was lovely about it.

Anyway, all good.

Had early DH bday meal today with about 10 of us. I did rabbit / bacon / cider stew (never buying chicken again) with honey glazed carrots and brocolli and dauphinoise pot. Then bramley apple fool. Then bday.

Am domestic goddess.

Poor ol mini Boco. Gonna FB her with love

Off to school tomorrow. Arrrrggghhhhh!!!!!

Guadalupe · 21/09/2008 21:52

Bugger about your phone, OB. DH got his nicked from the car and when he phoned it the thief said he also had his coat and if he meets him down this dodgy lane he can have it all back for £60.

Hope dd is better this evening, Boco.

We have been camping this weekend and it was sunny and lovely but cold at night. Had a huge fire though and lots of blankets. Probably the last camp, it's definitely getting past it now. I drank far too much and feel suitably rough today, though I managed to cook roast beef with puds, roast potatoes, creamy leeks, sherry and rosemary carrots, fennel savoy and peas with gravy and venison bilinis as canapes. Mmmm, it was lovely.

S1ur · 22/09/2008 01:49

Goodness Guada I am drooling!

I missed camping with mates this weekend so am a wee bit jealous.
Oh OB how annoying about phone [ggrr] can he fix it easily? had he copy phonebook onto pc?
Festival sounds good though!

Pinky - I went to a car boot slae for first time since dcs and ooh came away with cars anda ballerina music box, oh and a set of oil paints and brushes.
I was well chuffed! Sorry to hear yours was less good.

Goodness there seems to be a fair bit of ill health going about eh MOU? I think we should eat more oranges

MamaG you are a goddess.

Toady I have been boring re food again so apple (real unfortunately) orange, avocado, tomato, and some lettace and beans.

A very poor show I'm afraid.

But I went swimming! I need pat on back for movement not related to dc please!

S1ur · 22/09/2008 01:51

Frayed are your lot feeling better too or have you succumbed to the Germs..?

SuperBunny · 22/09/2008 04:02

MamaG, I am going to try that recipe for yorkies, ta. I was horrified that my MIL, born and bred yorkshire woman, used Aunt Bessies Even my own Mother, a Londoner, made her own.

What a frustrating day, PSW

Mou, I wanna see the bag too

OB, you do seem to have a lot of bad luck but Bangra man sounds good. Dinner sounds delish.

Any chance of the sherry and rosemary carrot recipe?

DS's bday tomorrow. Can't decide if I should take him to see the 3D movie at the plaentarium or if we should go to Legoland. Need to make decision asap but largely depends on his mood in the morning. Mondays are tricky as he is always recovering from a weekend partying with his Dad.

Um, no F&V to speak of really [shame]

Get well vibes to everybody especially the Boco crew.

filthymindedvixen · 22/09/2008 09:08

morning gorgeous people. I am succombing to my first cold in a year!
But drank a disgreaceful amount of wone over the weekend. Ate too much too.

Guad, we have been invited camping next weekend but sadly, have to go to another family do

Off to work now,
good luck OB, and Autumnal hugs to everyone x

Camping sounds divine Guadalupe, as did your dinner.
H cooked so we had microwave heated bought quiche and crisps, ....
Waiting for a delivery and then going for a run...good day to all!

Boco · 22/09/2008 09:29

Hello, thanks for the good wishes for dd, she seems to be on good form this morning, despite another breathless night, hopefully things will start getting better now.

She was a good vegger baby - after not eating for days I asked her what she'd eat if she could have anything in the whole world, and she said without hesitation 'dried apple rings'. she's not had them for about a year, don't know why she'd pick that. So, on our way back from hospital we stopped at Tesco and it was teh ONE type of dried fruit they didn't have and nothing else would do!

Dp has taken the day off so I can still do my driving lesson in Norwich.

Guad your dinner sounded so good. [hungry]
And thanks for bday card!
