For anyone who wants a boost to their general health (and to talk bobbins with a load of fruity nutters). The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

bottoms.

poo.

FrayedKnot · 17/09/2008 21:09

Please no more mushroom talk

I can;t eat atm with my general mouldiness - they are inadvisable

I love portobello mushrooms slathered with garlicky cream cheese and grilled

NB It is very important to slather the cheese

OsmosisBanana · 17/09/2008 21:16

I knew that would drag someone out of hiding.

I like to make a garlic/ chilli/ parsle butter, pull the stump out of ordinary mushrooms, stuff the butter in the mushroom and bung in a hot oven then bung on top of toasted baguette slices.

Does wonders for the waistline too.

OsmosisBanana · 17/09/2008 21:21

apparently have to go to bed.

Night

OsmosisBanana · 18/09/2008 15:40

everyone keeps coming in and going 'ooh last day tomorrow'. I am aware of this.

And there are cakes everywhere. And yet I still have to bring more cake in tomorrow.

Shall I offer round some guacamole and carrot sticks instead? Might they impale me on one? My student days shall be over before they begin. As predicted by my many charming friends who saw my spectacular disembarkment of the university ship last time round.

S1ur · 18/09/2008 15:41

Hello fruity bitches folk!

I thought I'd pop by spontaneously and bask in the glow of healthy people.

I am a disaster regarding all exercise but I have almost made a firm decision to re start running. Which is something...

How are you all???

OsmosisBanana · 18/09/2008 15:43

all one of us.

Franny has taken a sabbatical from MN and I suspect that many have joined her.

It's no good. Enough to drive one to drink. More.

TigerFeet · 18/09/2008 15:45

I frequently have mushrooms growing in my lawn

I have no idea if they're edible and I don't trust myself to identify them adequatel so in the bin they go.

Mango

and.....

erm......

TigerFeet · 18/09/2008 15:46

OsBa I am very of your impending studentdom.

S1ur · 18/09/2008 15:47

I am on a cheap shopping week this week, which may effect the level and interest of any f&v reporting I do.

It will likely be
Thurs - apple banana tomato frozen peas and carrot lentils and raisins
Fri - apple banana tomato avocado frozen broc and cauli and raisins
Sat - apple banana tomato beans and raisins.

Yawn I'm in for a fun fun week!

On plus side - food shop only cost £40!

S1ur · 18/09/2008 15:49

Yes I had notice Fran's absence..

Buggering rl it just keeps robbing us of the good ones. Pah.

Meanwhile put their in active convos there are many many names, and Lots of them new.

Perhaps fruitiness needs a bit of recruiting?

Boco · 18/09/2008 15:52

I won a pink fifi kitchen on a mn competition! Dp is going to be delighted.

Is very quiet in here, where are all the fruity bitches?

OsmosisBanana · 18/09/2008 15:53

Aha! See! I knew dragging Slur back in would make these other reprobates pay some attention!

Doesn't say much about my posts but hey.

S1ur · 18/09/2008 15:55

Oh Boco that's sounds divine! Is it a particularly nice shade of pink? Made from particularly shiny plastic?

S1ur · 18/09/2008 15:55

Arrrgh got to go to driving lesson now. poo.

Oh Boco how is your driving going?

OsmosisBanana · 18/09/2008 15:55

what is a fifi kitchen? It sounds disastrous.

I had completely convinced myself I had one the hotpoint survey and was very sad to see I hadn't.

This happens with the lottery every week despite the fact I don't actually do it.

I'll get my coat.

OsmosisBanana · 18/09/2008 15:57

'one'?!?

'won'

Boco · 18/09/2008 16:02

Got my test booked Slur!

Osba I always read your posts - with jaw hanging slightly open - but then I'm too stunned to think of anything to say. In a good way

OsmosisBanana · 18/09/2008 16:06

So I am the mystery thread silencer.... I see. Am I that odd?

Maybe if I name change Fran and others will come back.

If you see an OsamaisBananas hanging around, it's nothing to do with me.

OsmosisBanana · 18/09/2008 16:07

when's your test booked for or are we not allowed to know?

Is it your first attempt?

Boco · 18/09/2008 16:08

No no, just teasing.

OsmosisBanana · 18/09/2008 16:13

Ah, and I was prepared to get all in a huff! For about 10 mins and then come snivelling back hoping no-one had noticed. It has been known.

I keep having pains in my stomach which are not disimilar to hunger but having been eating all day I have realised that it is actually a great big knot of terror.

Ah well. Best stop eating then otherwise it really will hurt.

S1ur · 18/09/2008 17:24

ooohh test

Well my lesson was 'kay, suppose.

Right off to do dinner. I'll make an extra effort to throw more frozen veg in its general direction.

Waaaah I want something more interesting to eat than frozen veg and mince.
