For anyone who wants a boost to their general health (and to talk bobbins with a load of fruity nutters). The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yes first attempt at test, is in a few weeks. It'll be fine.

Lullabyloo · 18/09/2008 18:21

Hello chaps

filthymindedvixen · 18/09/2008 18:49

Lully, I have left gushing messages of thanks for you further down the thread. And keep an eye on the post next week

I will not be around this weekend as I have a cake to decorate, friends over for dinner and a family party weekend.
But given the thinness on the ground of fruity bitches right now, just thought I'd let you know

S1ur · 18/09/2008 19:30

oh FMV that's sounds good - what is occasion? Hope you have a fab time

Ace Boco, it will be fine and then it will be done which is even better.

Hello Lully!

I did throw extra carrots, sweetcorn, green beans and peas and toms into cottage pie.

And also made banana splits.

filthymindedvixen · 18/09/2008 19:36

my (chosen) dad's 65th birtdhay. He decided to push the boat out, presumably in the belief that he will either not last til 70 or will have run out of money by then...

I have created a masterpiece in sugarpaste of a canal boat, dry stone walls, ducks, sheep and a fisherman! Now 'all' I have to do is ice the cake and assemble all the bits on top....my friend is helping and we have plenty of wine to assist our creative juices

Boco very exciting about driving test

It's getting a bit busier isn't it

Hmm, f&v..... raisins, oj, blackberries, satsuma, lettuce, cuc and tom (in sandwich and on the side. Maybe 1.5 at a push!) Chilli for dinner containing beans, onion, tomato, pepper, mushroom. Maybe 2 more portions? So 7 so far. Not horrendous I feel. And a walk up the field to pick the blackberries. But I'm going to do yoga tonight. So throw me off here fairly soon please!

OsmosisBanana · 18/09/2008 19:47

S1ur · 18/09/2008 19:53

Hello pinky Go and do yoga

fmv that sounds FAB, will you post pic when complete?

Oh OB missed Boots. They. are. Very. Good. I likey. And they look extra clompy which is excellent for making you stride about looking purposeful.

OsmosisBanana · 18/09/2008 19:54

i have been told i can have the boots! Whoop! Shall be appearing at hoe-down near you soon.

I also intend to buy a plaid shirt. I am getting intouch with my inner Madonna circa 2002 (?)

OsmosisBanana · 18/09/2008 19:55

yy, ultra noisy for clomping across wooden floors.

S1ur · 18/09/2008 19:57

Yay for boots. Oh yes you must accessorise accordingly. do you have one of these?

BBBee · 18/09/2008 19:58

hello all

how's tricks?

have had a skim through - have been in horrid real world full of weariness and headaches.

tomaotes
onions
apple
humous (oh please let me have this one)

so that is 4 - but the apple was a lie (the apple is often a lie i think) and the humous dones't count so that gives me 2.

2/2 club anyone?

OsmosisBanana · 18/09/2008 20:02

kinda. lumberjack any good? if he could hear me calling him a lumberjack!

pinkspottywellies · 18/09/2008 20:08

Why doesn't humous count? Aren't chick peas on the list?

BBBee · 18/09/2008 20:13

maybe it does - have i spelt it wrong? when I read yours I thought you said 'humour' - how are you? appetite back?

SuperBunny · 18/09/2008 20:35

Humous does count. Most definitely.

Am feeling funny today. V bad night's sleep,.. headache and tummy feels a knotted but don't know why.

But I had a meet-up today and was lovely. No F&V so far. Will see to that later.

Nice Boots. And Lumberjack. I want one.

pinkspottywellies · 18/09/2008 20:42

I'm ok thanks BBB. Eating much more now I had a bad day on Monday. Exhausted. Totally shattered and think I have to put it down to 10 mins on the stepper on Sun night I really want to do some exercise but hardly dare now in case it finishes me off for the day again!

FrayedKnot · 18/09/2008 21:18

Did someone say free lumberjacks? Will they have very toned brown arms?

OB hope your last day goes well. As long as you don;t buy a matching pointy bra I think you will be OK.

DS would ahve loved a pink Fifi kitchen....perhaps I should start entering the competitions.

I also have a similarly busy weekend so may I be excused as well? Tmorrow night I will be mostly making chilli.

[impressed] at cake making, as usual.

FrayedKnot · 18/09/2008 21:20

Ooops sorry OB were you referring to DH

Well I can swap you an engineer if you want

[dubious]

OsmosisBanana · 18/09/2008 21:33

what sort of engineer?

pinkspottywellies · 18/09/2008 21:48

Used vehicles salesman anyone?

I've just done my ante-natal yoga dvd which I thought was about 40 mins long. It's felt that long when I've done it before. I played it on the laptop though this time and I've found out that it's only 20 mins! Bloody hard though. I think I'll regret it in the morning.

We're supposed to be going out tomorrow night for sil's birthday but dd had a teething meltdown tonight. She cried and cried Don't want to leave her with my lovely friend who also has a toddler and 5 month old if she's going to be waking up. Fingers crossed she'll be much better tomorrow.

FrayedKnot · 18/09/2008 22:18

I appear to have started something I'm not sure I wish I'd started.

Tonight DS insisted I tell him a "made up story from your head" rather than one froma book.

It was quite a triumph actually but I'm not sure I can sustain it every night for the next....however many years

Which is what I am sure will be required from now on

S1ur · 18/09/2008 22:48

Oh Frayed welcome to my nightmare world.

It started as a story in the car on a long journey, and then developed into the odd bus ride and NOW all of them. Every bus ride I make up some sodding story about superheroes/badgers/acorns and monsters and EVERY car journey short or long AND NOW we write them into books which dd illustrates and ds crumples and MY BRAIN IS FALLING OUT MY EARS.

But yes you should do it - it is lovely and people on buses will smile indulgently at you and you will GO INSANE feel good.

TooTicky · 18/09/2008 23:25

I am eating roasted squash, ratatouille and lentils and have been eating lots of apples from the garden.
Also walking lots - up to six miles.
And pushing a buggy with a knackered tyre which involves pushing down on the back and keeping the front afloat. Better than having a knackered back tyre though.

How is everybody??????????

SuperBunny · 18/09/2008 23:31

OB, hope your last day goes well.

What is a fifi kitchen?

Homemade leek & potato soup
Weetabix
