For anyone who wants a boost to their general health (and to talk bobbins with a load of fruity nutters). The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

satsumas (2)
apple
pineapple, mango, melon

The staff shop is doing ludicrously cheap, ludicrously overpackaged fruit again

I am having a sugar rush after eating far too much sugary fruit

Men. Don't get me fucking started. My dh also seems to inhabit a world in which things do themselves. This includes stuff like getting a part for the car so we can get it mended and sold. It's been dead on the drive for 4 MONTHS and he kept saying that he would sort it and didn't. It has finally gone to the garage today after he realised that it needs to be taxed and MOT'd in two weeks and it would be VERY GOOD if he could GET IT SORTED AND GET RID OF IT BY THEN[thud][scream]

OsmosisBanana · 16/09/2008 15:15

my own personal favourite goes as follows.

After long and painful battle round tesco (they have decided to move all the stock around - why for the love of god why?!?!?) with small child in tow constantly trying to get away DH will inevitably come home and say...

'I thought you went to tesco today'

'Yes' said in menacing growl which he always fails to pick up on

'but there's no food'

i wonder if he thinks we live on ready meals. Surely my cooking isn't that bad?

TigerFeet · 16/09/2008 15:35

lol at there's no food

there's no food = there's no chocolate/biscuits/onion bhajis/[insert shite food here]

That's on purpose, I am trying to stop eating so much rubbish.

If it ain't there he I can't eat it.

OsmosisBanana · 16/09/2008 15:54

exactly - loose translation 'where's the crisps?'

FrayedKnot · 16/09/2008 16:59

Sorry, I'm just late. I have no intention of disappearing.

I think though people might not post if it's not busy. IYSWIM.

Every time I go in the spare room, I see a top belonging to DSIL which she left behind when she came to stay.

DH is supposed to be posting it off.

usually I would do but he said he would, and he's off work quite a lot over these few weeks while DS is at school part time.

I am having a little bet with myself as to how long it will stay there.

I hope she doesn;t need it anytime soon.

I have had a 26 day cycle this month.

Agnus Castus anyone?

DS and I have been painting various walls with blackboard paint...I have attractive goth nails

filthymindedvixen · 16/09/2008 17:05

where is Boco? 100 is busy being assertive with cdo on How to Talk thread..
Where is Lully?
Who else is missing? [bossy]

Have been busy with rl and working.
Tis a shock I tell you!!

Dd2 starts mornings ta school tomorrow which will be much easier.

Mt sbrother came off his motorbike last ngith and broke his arm, dislocated his shoulder and hurt his back
Silly teengae boy though.

Pear
Muslei
Pasta bake !! with sweetcorn and brocolli.
apple

SuperBunny · 16/09/2008 17:49

Blackboard paint -cool! Goth nails, too

Am glad to see more people posting today. Your poor Bro, LR. That sounds very scary. They don't wear helmets on motorcycles here and it always scares me.

Men are a strange bunch. BF has said things like, "So, should we try to get in shape before the holidays?" and "we should try to eat better..." Er, yes. I do actually eat well, thanks. I'm the one who doesn't buy much processed food, makes meals from scratch, bakes proper cakes, eats fruit and veg, walks everywhere and sometimes goes running. And am not overweight. Speak for yourself

How long are you betting on the top staying there, FK?

Ex has decided he wants to send DS to private school. Which, in a way would be good because the local public schools are very very bad and the private one is a bit more British in philosophy but with a far more creative and flexible curriculum. But, it would mean DS only socializing with wealthy middle class kids (the Obama children go there), the teachers are shite and it costs $15,000 a yr. This from the man who can't afford to pay maintenance for his only child

OsmosisBanana · 16/09/2008 18:58

just performed the usual half nelson on DD to get the teeth brushing done. I know I should do it 2x a day (am religious about my own teeth and quite... uh.. judgey about nasty teeth) but I don't think I could cope with 2x a day. Maybe when she has more than 6 teeth I shall gird the loins. Or maybe I could hire an au pair for 10mins a day? [hopeful]

Someone nod sagely and tell me it's not evil to only do them at night?

Am not loving this list thread fetish that has been going on for weeks. Or the how much do you spend threads. Seems to be all there is.

Surely summer silly season is long gone now?

Have excelled at the F&V consuming today.

banana
2 x figs
salad with sprouting stuff - about 3, maybe more
veg spag bol - prob another 3

Oh. That's not that great. Feels like more though! Will have some cherry toms.

Walked into town, takes about an hour. Admittedly was punctuated by hour long chat in wholesome organic cafe but I walk fast so...

OsmosisBanana · 16/09/2008 20:08

ok, I'll brush her teeth 2x a day. Will you all come back now?

You're forcing me to watch Katie and Peter the next chapter. My eyes are bleeding.

OsmosisBanana · 16/09/2008 20:11

I wonder if I look in a mirror and say 'stuffit' 3x she'll mysetriously turn up on the thread.

I know they have heard of computers and stuff where she is. She is punishing us. Or maybe... she's Fabio.... Nah.

Come on, don't leave me here, I'll start rummaging around in the 'hidden bad things' drawer of the kitchen that DH can't find.

filthymindedvixen · 16/09/2008 20:28

OB, I am thoroughly bored with MN at the moment (present company excepted...)
It's all mindless repetition and sniping. And by repetition, I mean threads within a week or so of each other.

Have been making felt brooches. And reading the most gory children's book to ds1. And farting due to over-consumption of plums and grapes today...

OP posts:
mou · 16/09/2008 20:49

Hide my essential oils but DD got hold of them and emptied half the contents on the carpet....oh god the smell!!!!! and I can't decide which mood to be in but have been giggling all day! [GRIN].
Hello all, esp. people I don't know yet.

I'm mou and I mostly eat nuts!!

Very good today, (pats self on back). Big fast walk and over 10 F&V. Now i'm shattered and going to eat 1/2 packet of fruit shorties.

I love The Night Garden and have the DVD,......DS 10 & DD 5!!!...[BLUSH].

Making a lovely Green Bean risotto tomorrow. Anyone for tea at mine?

OsmosisBanana · 16/09/2008 21:05

god, the look of horror I would get if I presented DH with GB risotto! I'll be there, he can stay and look after --the rat DD.

I've been crying in Holby City. I love it when DH has a home game, tv freedom with no male channel hopping. I do wish the football season was a bit shorter though... Say 4 months? I could live with that.

Will call the FA in the morn.

Can I have a felt brooch? One with purple and olive green please.

My friend makes her own felt, she makes the most beautiful cards and things.

She is Welsh. And has a top hat which she wore to my wedding and totally stole my thunder. Nah, not possible.

filthymindedvixen · 16/09/2008 21:16

Ob you can have one but they are a little naiave..(I have purple and green as it happens...)

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 16/09/2008 21:37

Shit. I think my mindee has broken her wrist. She fell off a little chair. She was fully supervised too, I was right next to her and

She's not crying. I don't know what to do.

OsmosisBanana · 16/09/2008 21:41

oh cripes SB. ring a dr for advice? Or your mum? should you give her something sweet? Am i actually 80 years old??

Give the wrist a v gentle feel first? Why is she quiet? Did she hit her head?

OsmosisBanana · 16/09/2008 21:43

I knew you'd have purple and green FMV,

filthymindedvixen · 16/09/2008 22:00

SB - can she move her wrist at all?

OP posts:
filthymindedvixen · 16/09/2008 22:01

SuperBunny · 16/09/2008 22:08

It turns out that my mindee fell last week and hurt her wrist so when she fell off her tiny chair just now, she probably just aggravated it. So swelling or bruising or anything. Mum doesn't seem to care.

SuperBunny · 16/09/2008 22:09

Thanks for good vibes and help btw. I did all the finger wiggling thing and watched her try to use it and seemed ok but then she'd suddenly cry and her arm would go floppy and she'd make me kiss it so I panicked.

TooTicky · 16/09/2008 22:14

Phew!!

SuperBunny · 17/09/2008 00:44

Yes, definitley 'phew' I am slightly annoyed that the mother didn't warn me. I called her, thinking they'd have to go to the ER and she said, "Is it her right wrist? Yes, she hurt that last week. Did I forget to mention it?"

Anyway,

walking, running around with DS & chopping enormous sunflowers down so a bit of exercise.

Grapes
Chili (2)
juice

Is that all?

Ooops
