For anyone who wants a boost to their general health (and to talk bobbins with a load of fruity nutters). The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Grapes
ratatouille with peppers and beans (2, maybe 3)

Brisk walk

filthymindedvixen · 15/09/2008 17:43

I know we have some artistic souls on this thread, can you come and help me here please?

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 15/09/2008 17:51

I posted. I am not artistic but did teach art to reluctant children and actually learnt a lot myself.

pinkspottywellies · 15/09/2008 18:43

Mou where did you get the frozen peppers? I used to be able to get them in Morrisons but couldn't find them last time and my usual haunts don't stock them. By the way. How do you pronounce mou?

pinkspottywellies · 15/09/2008 18:57

Oh and Hi everyone!

I've had a shit day. (Oh my god I swore on 10/10) And it was actually rescued mid-afternoon. I woke up soooo tired that I don't think I lifted my head off the pillow until half 8 (dh and dd got up at 7 and I read dd stories from about half 7 til half 8) then we had a lazy morning which was ok. Then I decided to let dd walk with her doll in her little buggy to take dh's lunch to work. She is 2 so you can imagine she did the whole looking at every flower thing and by the time we got there I was screeching at her like the horrible witch that I am . Then we watched TV while we ate lunch

Then I was about to go out to town, with several things to do, when lovely DH came home early from work to let me go on my own while he had dd [phew] So I had a really busy time in town and did everything I needed to which is good I suppose. Now I've made tea and have to put shopping away and I'm knackered again!!

Ok so thinking about it, it wasn't a shit day, but I still feel like shit

mou · 15/09/2008 19:20

Mou as in MOO! But it is a play on 'Mu' from the zen philosophy. Mou is also a cartoon character i am developing....watch this space.
Frozen peppers from sainsbury's (who i think are mostly obscenely expensive) but peppers were something like 69p a bag and far cheaper than fresh, especially as i seem to have a habit of lettting them go manky in the fridge .
Sorry about your bad day pinkspotty, those kind of days are horrible.
You a very talented lady SB.[SMILE]

pinkspottywellies · 15/09/2008 19:23

Two things made me go today. I will tell you about them. (Disclaimer: this is a little inane!)

  1. I had to buy dd 'boys' pyjamas. Surely they're children's pjs for children who like Thomas the Tank? I also got her a pair of Fairy Princess ones. She picked the Thomas ones for tonight!
  1. I saw an advert for a range of Heinz baby food which was described as 'ingredients' for cooking for babies. It was pasta sauce on the ad. Pasta sauce isn't an ingredient surely? Tomatoes, onions, herbs etc are ingredients?

And here endeth today's lesson

pinkspottywellies · 15/09/2008 19:26

SB it's all coming out this week - you're so multi-talented. Art, taxidermy - what else are you hiding!?

Thanks Mou I thought it was moo but I'm a bit of a pedant about knowing people's names. Even though you'll never hear me say it!

TooTicky · 15/09/2008 21:53

I was doing the credit card thing too Mou, until I reached the limit [fear]
It makes me that some people run up thousands in debt just shopping, but for a lot of people it is the only way to survive.

Fmv, I think that unless he actually wants to draw, just concentrate on other media for now, and keep telling he's brilliant at what he is doing.
Ach, you're better at this stuff than me anyway!

Pink, I'm with you on your observations but too tired to comment intelligently.
I kept falling asleep reading to the dcs.

Dd1 came out of school miserable today - the girl she sits next to in most lessons was horrid to her

Where is Avi?

Apple and blackberry crumble (fruit from garden), runner beans (garden), gnocchi with tomato/courgette/onion/garlic sauce. Slice of carrot.

TooTicky · 15/09/2008 21:54

Pink, tiredness can do terrible things to you but you are not a horrible witch!

TooTicky · 15/09/2008 22:40

What if Franny never came back? What if all the regulars just got rarer and rarer and in the end there were just a mere handful of us sailing the thread through lonely seas? What if I was the last one here?
[desolate]

Oh PSW< I do that kind of thing - think its a good idea to let DS walk somewhere and end up screeching at him. It makes me feel awful. I have to remind myself that we are out for his benefit, not mine. And if that means stopping to look at every little rock, examine every stick and climb every steo he spots then so be it. But, my word, is it frustrating.

I hate the boy/ girl thing. I wanted to buy DS an apron but when I looked online, ALL the shops had toys split into girls or boys. And of course, only girls wear aprons. Pink, flowery ones, no less.

Franny will come back. Won't she? She's just having a lovely time in Southwold, isn't she...

Other people are missing too - where's Tatties gone? And Idris? And Avi? I think we might need a register so we can monitor attendance. Anyone who has unexplained absences would get a warning from the Powers that Be and then a Visit.

Grapes
Ratatouille, peppers, beans (2)
Bananas (2)
salad

Lots of walking and a RUN. Hooray.

I only posted once, honest. Tech was Doing Stuff.

OsmosisBanana · 16/09/2008 07:50

I am very grumpy.

DH gets up insanely early to do tree stuff, this morning he got up 'oh look, the alarm hasn't gone off and it's time to go - I need you to drive mt to the garage'

Why he didn't think to mention this the night before is beyond me, maybe it was because he was being an utter cunting mango (see what I did there heh heh..... heh) and knew I would say no.

So now I have no car today as he has it now and I have a squillion jobs to do in town, which is quite a long walk away....

He helpfully suggested I do them another day. Cos god knows I don't spend enough of my lunch breaks doing his menial tasks that he forgets about..... 4 hours in the post ofice week B4 last sorting out his forms / bills / parcels etc etc in lunch breaks which I don't get paid for... Grr.

Men, even the good ones - which I suspect he is, are SHIT!!!!!

Rant over. For now

Don't placate me, I'm fine now he has gone.

Banana.
2 x figs.

off to a good start. veggie lasgane for tea tonight as SD staying so will have to smuggle lots of veg in as she is a vegetable dodger. Odd for a veggie....

will easily be 10 by the end of the day.

so who is going to be hall monitor?

filthymindedvixen · 16/09/2008 08:25

lully and guad I have mny parcels and I am overwhelmed!
Guad the book is ace (am I around 20 years too late to use that word ) and we will look forward to freezing our bits off using it later

Lully, DH is bewildered as to how well you seem to 'know' my tastes having never met me
He thinks the coat is foxy! And the top is beautiful. I'm sorry you don';t wear them anymore but rest assured, they have gone to a good, apprciative home.

Thank you both xxxx

Glad youu liked it, FMV, it took bloody long enough. I am never using parcel force again, it really wasn't that much cheaper and took a week longer.

It took so long that you will probably have to put off any antics until next year! Never mind, it will look nice on the coffee table. We are meant to be camping this weekend but there is a chill in the air.

DS2 is still not better and was very sick in the night, for the fourth night, off to docs in a minute.

pinkspottywellies · 16/09/2008 14:19

Avi is busy and she sometimes comes on and blanket-excuses herself for a while. Others should be registering and yes definitely letters home for persistent absentees!

I was looking forward to going to salsa dancing tonight but my friend can't get a babysitter Never mind I should probably have another early night.

SB dd is just playing with water in her blue gingham peter rabbit (and various Potter) apron! Would suit a boy too. Don't know where it's from though, it was a present. I guess it doesn't matter so much for dd at this age but when she's 5 or 6 (if her tastes haven't changed) and she can see it says boys it might put her off

Tomato soup, cuc, toms, radishes, raisins, oj and a half a pear with dd (along to the song which my mum made up with dd while I was away..... to the tune of Abba's money money money..... yummy yummy yummy, in my tummy, it's a great big pear! MM MMMM mmm mmm mmm mmmmmmmm!)

OsmosisBanana · 16/09/2008 14:25

Isla is in her little wheel along suitcase trying to pack herself. I wonder if DH would notice if I zipped her in. Just for a little while.....

She has well and truly entered the terrible twos kicking and screaming this week - little shit is in all honesty the only way to describe her atm.

Am calm now though as managed to spend £50 in WHSmiths on crap useful uni items which will all have to be hidden and brought out slowly in dribs and drabs so DH doesn't have a head fit.

Ridiculously healthy salad of leaves and mixed sprouting things for lunch so am feeling starving very nourished and superior.

Back to work tomorrow for day 1 of 3 remaining. I predict a lot of MNing and staring into space.

SuperBunny · 16/09/2008 14:28

ok, so Avi is excused.

Shame about Salsa dancing, PSW..

OB, I think men are just different. They live in their own little world and don't realise that other things need to be done and what is involved. They assume things just happen. Well, that's my experience anyway. After I'd been in the US for a couple of months, ex said to me, "Isn't it amazing that the toilet paper seems to last a lot longer here?" I stood there, rather baffled, "What do you mean?" He said, "Well, I haven't changed it once and this roll is still half full." Um, yes... that's because I have changed it several times. Did he think Americans have magic loo roll that never runs out?

OsmosisBanana · 16/09/2008 14:36

Lol at never ending loo roll.

When we run out I get the 'there's no loo roll left' type approach from DH.

I took a stand last time.

The next day, after several trips to the corner shop by both of us. 'there's still no loo roll'

Repeat this for a few more days.......

Eventually I caved in.

I am also constantly surprised by the build up of empty loo rolls.... there is a bin in there... he probably can't find it. ROFL's at self. Ah.... men... don'tcha just love 'em........

OsmosisBanana · 16/09/2008 14:43

The Tombliboos are doing bongs on In The Night Garden.

And hearing weird singing.

Subversive.
