For anyone who wants a boost to their general health (and to talk bobbins with a load of fruity nutters). The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

oh OB

fmv...I wasn't meaning that at all you big silly
I am the size of a whale these days & nothing fits

just cross that people wont pay silly money for lovely things thats all.

pinkspottywellies · 14/09/2008 20:07

Yay! I've just done 10 mins on the stepper

I was supposed to go running last night but it got dark really quickly and I didn't want to go in the dark. So with renewed determination, I have decided to do 10 mins on the stepper every day.

Anyone else want to join me and pledge to do some exercise? Franny might come back if we're good

filthymindedvixen · 14/09/2008 20:24

excercise? I feel like I am excersing 18 hours of the day.
Would like to do something more formal though

OB that is an absolute bummer (man!). Did dh feel like an arse or did he go all defensive in a Man Did Something Stupid way?

No Lully, I know you didn't mean that, but I wish I had thought of it anyway. You are very kind and thoughtful and I only think of such things afterwards...

Would anyone have use for a quite smart Laura Ashley green tweed jacket with green velvet collar? It is a 12 and looks not good on me.

Evening lovely veggers

FMV we might be interested in the Ertls E-mail me which ones you have to vicdubya at yahoo co uk?

DS is collecting them, we have every permutation of train in this house, but I won;t buy them new

£50 not bad! Have also given stuff away at many a Boot Fair

Guad hope you make it to the curry and enjoy

OB sorry to hear about teh wallet

Glad holiday was mainly OK though

We went for a walk today but couldn;t work out where teh footpath went so had to abandon it. We then went to the main entrance to the reservoir / country park that we were trying to get to on the walk, and they wanted £10 to park , so we abandoned that idea, and started looking for somewhere else to go (we were about 3/4 hour from home, and by this time it was 3pm), and just as we got to desperation point we drove past a National Trust property that had free entry today!

So did running round gardens and looking for ruined castles instead.

Weather was glorious though, hope it was as nice everywhere else

TooTicky · 14/09/2008 21:02

There were camels!! Real, actual camels!! And I stroked them!! I like camels. I like them very much indeed. They are incredibly soft and sort of woolly and absolutely beautiful

FK, do NT advertise free entry days? We never go to NT places - far too expensive with a sizeable family.

filthymindedvixen · 14/09/2008 21:04

lol at camel outburst!

They are beautiful though.

What was this day out Toot? You been mushroom-picking or something ??
Off to watch Tess now, love you all x

SuperBunny · 14/09/2008 21:13

Er, toot, where did you go? Am glad you enjoyed the camels so much

I want to watch Tess

FrayedKnot · 14/09/2008 22:01

TooT we drove past and DH spotted a sign, we've never stopped the car so quickly

But, however, have just looked on NT website and it seemed to be a one-off this weekend

Although perhaps they'll repeat it

filthymindedvixen · 14/09/2008 22:02

LOL, poor DH is not experienced in a Thos Hardy style. He kept looking at me and saying: ''Is he a bad man? But it does have a happy ending, right?...''

SuperBunny · 14/09/2008 22:19

Franny will be proud of me. I am bulk cooking.

I have made:

Bean Chili
Bean bolognese
White bean and pesto spread

and am about to make jam because the strawberries were reduced - an enormous box for 99c so I got 3. Since jam made with sugar (rather than high fructose corn syrup) is $5 jar, we usually don't have any.

Shame that NT free weekend wasn't advertised.

SuperBunny · 15/09/2008 04:44

Beans
Grapes (3)
Raisins
Bananas (2)
Apple
Strawberries
Juice

10 and not a vegetable in sight!

mou · 15/09/2008 07:04

Can you watch Tess on BBC Iplayer SB?

I,ve been bulk cooking as well. Big 10 vegetable and bean broth. Deal on frozen chopped peppers at supermarket recently so freezer full of them. Actually really handy. So peppers in everything this week!

Fresh fruit can give me IBS so eat lots of tinned fruit in natural juice. Doesn't affect me the same.

Glad it is monday, and a beautiful start to the day here. DD up, time for a tously cuddle...

OsmosisBanana · 15/09/2008 09:15

mornin'

you can't use iplayer in the US cuz no tv license. Or so I am told.

I am sweating out all the beers I've overindulged in. Feel quite rough actually.

No money in the house due to said wallet / card situation and my bank card that I have re-ordered 2x still not arriving so we shall be having no fruit or veg until this is amended.

I don't think baked beans 3x a day really counts.

off to uni today for DD final settling in day at her nursery, am going to be geeky mature student and wander around figuring out where everything is. Maybe I should wear sensible shoes and a fleece too just to complete the look.

ShowOfHands · 15/09/2008 09:17

Can I just applaud the title? FMV, I knew this would be you.

As you were ladies, back to your root veg.

mou · 15/09/2008 09:19

Bummer!!!!!
Going for a long walk before I start work.

filthymindedvixen · 15/09/2008 10:33

Thanks SOH

OB good luck with your stuudent days!

OP posts:
OsmosisBanana · 15/09/2008 12:17

I don't start till next week, just going up to have a sneak around.... How ridiculous.

TigerFeet · 15/09/2008 12:31

Morning (afternoon?) veggers

Am about to have a salad

Did we resolve TooT's mystery gourd? DH is something of a gourd/squash expert.

Baked beans fine in my book OsBa

In fact I felt like crap last Friday so did BoT for tea - dd said "this is yummy can we have it again tomorrow?" Gah - usually I cook healthy veg filled lovely food for the whole family and they would rather eat BoT??? I am hoping that it's novelty value rather than a reflection of my cooking skills. Funny thing is we do eat beans anyway, just not for tea. Oh well.

OsmosisBanana · 15/09/2008 12:44

i always forget how good BoT is.

DH would happily eat it every day.

That isn't right.....

can't get DD to eat her lunch and she won't sleep. A magic combo.....

TooTicky · 15/09/2008 12:57

Arse, don't have enough money to pay rent this week. Will have to do grovelling. I hate grovelling.

Apple.

Camels were outside the library in Bradford on Avon along with a mini desert. Part of Arts festival.

Gourd still unresolved. I think the ones I planted in that spot were Connecticut Field - maybe this is a small one, but can a green mottled one still turn orange?

TooTicky · 15/09/2008 12:59

Perhaps I should have left it on the plant for longer, but I was worried the slugs might eat it.

TigerFeet · 15/09/2008 13:33

According to dh it should still ripen off the plant, it needs to be in the sun though (obv)

Sorry about rent worries

OsBa stick her in her buggy and go for a walk.

TooTicky · 15/09/2008 13:35

It's in the greenhouse. Won't get too hot though because the door doesn't shut

SuperBunny · 15/09/2008 14:14

You can use iPlayer only for radio, mou, so no TV.

Nowt wrong with BoT. TF. YUm.

Sorry about rent worries. I sympathise.

mou · 15/09/2008 15:06

Rent worries too Toot. (just taken money off credit card to pay as live next door to landlord and too embarrassed to admit problems even though they are lovely.)
Sorry for us both....perhaps things get better soon....[smile} ha-ha!

Send me your slugs though as I now appear to be running a slug hostelry! ( all coming in from the cold ).

Lovely to be starting Uni OB, I was a mature student and loved it, lots of fun hardwork!
