For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Can you call them OB?
They're not going to not have you do the course because you don't have a card, there will be a way round it, is temporary frustration but you'll figure it out. Do it when you feel stronger, call them and ask advice.

BBBee · 05/09/2008 10:46

oh dear - then you have to go and they come but they will love it and remember it and you will need to store it in the 'virtuoues things I have done' bit of your head and make sure that you reward yourself for your kindness at a later date.

zippitippitoes · 05/09/2008 10:47

you do sound a bit tense ob

i am sure it will be fine

the frirst few days have there own strangeness but a week or two after it will all seem like yiou have been there for ages

i put on loads of weight gradually eating the same as exp and not getting any exercise and drinking wine in the evenings while he was working nights

i am definitely never going to let myself put weight on again

it is easy to slip back tho

i am not getting much exercise at the moment and i have had to concentrate on food

zippitippitoes · 05/09/2008 10:48

i just looked dumpy frumpy a lot older etc

OsmosisBanana · 05/09/2008 10:51

I have decided that the real solution is to become a lesbian / celibate.

Bloody men.

Boco · 05/09/2008 10:55

It's an every week thing Bee, not just today - just today would be fine, it's just losing that doing something quietly on your own thing, but you're right, it'll be nice and hopefully they'll love it.

I'm very lucky to still have grandparents, not many people my age have still got 2.

berolina · 05/09/2008 10:58

OB lovely, give them a call when you feel a bit better. If there really is no other option - but surely they can't just assume everyone has a card? If they did I would be pretty cross IIWY -, you can use our card if you like and transfer us the money?

Boco, entirely not-mean and reasonable to feel sad about losing peaceful uncomplicated lengths. That time of free-headedness is just so precious, isn't it? It is why I end up staying up much too late even on work nights because of just being peaceful and alone.

filthymindedvixen · 05/09/2008 11:05

oh Boco, I hadn't really appreciated your post below when I first read it. I would feel a little aggreived too at losing my precious lone swimming. Is there another time you can go alone at all?

filthymindedvixen · 05/09/2008 11:08

oh or could you explain to your mum taht you need 10 minutes lone length-swimiing at the start of the session for 'health reasons'..
I used to go swimming with my mum and she is one of those women you see at pools with full make-up and coiffured hair who do a very sedate breast stroke for 5 minutes. Then stop in shallow end for a natter etc. I used to demand some 'vigorous' swimming on my own first. She understood.

Boco · 05/09/2008 11:10

Not really because I have to get a lift with a friend as there's no pool in The Village. However, when I've passed my test!

I'm not being entirely reasonable, but am tetchy due to dp kicking all night again - his sleep disorder has been better for a while, but I finally booted him out last night after being kicked, and he slept on the floor, randomly kicking the cupboard door at intervals, and whacking the chest of drawers. Gah. He'll be nackered and grumpy tonight too. AND I have cystitis for the billionth time.

OsmosisBanana · 05/09/2008 11:11

Thanks, am going to give myself a little shake.

Will stop fretting on here now.

Boco · 05/09/2008 11:11

That's a good idea FMF, will try something like that.

BBBee · 05/09/2008 11:17

i think you are being reasonable and you seem tired.

I think you are very nice nad very kind - I guess that dones;t help or do anything but I still think you are.

Boco · 05/09/2008 11:21

Thank you, is nice to complain and have friendliness.

Tatties · 05/09/2008 13:14

OB hope you can get it sorted out

filthymindedvixen · 05/09/2008 14:41

Franny I love your innapproriate children's books thread.

FrayedKnot · 05/09/2008 16:22

Hello

OB >

UR >

Everyone else have some too

I don;t very often do that.

I too am feeling like I'm at the bottom of a pit at the moment. I am just off to the Dr to talk about my recurrent thrush (if it even is thrush) which went away for a few months and has COME BACK.

I cried in the car on the way to work this morning because it was DS last day at nursery, and him starting school next week, the thrush, and work, and stuff. Then of course I had to make myslef stop in time to not go into work all puffy and bloodshot.

I feel like sitting under a duvet and never coming out again, well at least until we get some of that crispy weather, anyway.

FrannyandZooey · 05/09/2008 16:23

oh thank you FMF
there was this terrible moment after I had started it where no-one replied and then someone went "" and I had put the bulgy veins thing and no-one was laughing and I thought oh dear

sorry for angstiness on here today
the swimming thing would drive me really MAD, being selfish and controlling as I am

mou hello again! join us again when you have worked out how to let the children get their own breakfast, like the rest of us

ds1 and I took ds2 to library singing thing
he slept through entire session of course but ds1 and I liked it

I have taught ds1 how to cross stitch

TigerFeet · 05/09/2008 16:33

FK I get recurrent thrush, and assorted other candida infections. Probiotics help enormously - I use these. You are supposed to avoid sugar (not just refined, natural sugars too) and yeast. Marmite sandwiches a no-no. However I find that just taking the capsules is enough to keep the infections at bay. Cappucino is a mine of info on candida ishoos.

SO many veggers under a cloud the weather is shite and that doesn't help does it?

OsmosisBanana · 05/09/2008 16:39

have cheered up a little. apparently there is an email for me at home from uni saying 'there there dear'.

Or words to that effect.

Am now freaking out because ex best friend who is a complete nightmare in so many ways I really couldn't begin to describe, but lets just start with - cannot survive without male attention in any situation in any form - is moving back from NYC to Bristol after her multi millionaire partner dumped her when he flew in to London yesterday and saw what she must have been up to in his absence.

NNNNOOOOOOooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And needs 'places to stay'. I was noncommital. I served my penance last w/e.

Hope everyone elses day perks up. I fucked off my diet and had two packets of hula hoops. Maybe I'm just high on MSG. Whatever. Get yer kicks where you can.

OsmosisBanana · 05/09/2008 16:42

I am having recurrent cystitis. About as much fun as recurrent thrush.

Boo! Hiss! To bottom badness.

Yay to cold gin n tonic in fridge. That'll help with the cystitis.....

Boco · 05/09/2008 16:48

Me too with the cystitis, bloody pain. Had to give sample at docs today, was in queue to hand it over with dd2 shouting 'why did you do a wee in that tube? Why are you giving it to that lady? What will she do with your wee? Why? Why mummy? etc. Should have done patient explaining but I hate it when everyone is listening and your skills all fall off.

Sorry you're feeling so low FK, is grim day today. Hope you get a relaxing weekend.

MimsieNet · 05/09/2008 16:49

gin and cranberry juice??
