For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Helloooo

Titty you have enchantingly beautiful children.

Went to see DS' new teacher today. He is seemingly looking forward to school now. We are talking about it lots now so hopefully by next week he will be feeling less wobbly. So slightly less stress on that score.

The new person who I will be working with started work today. She is very young, but has two DC older than DS so it feels odd (I know some of you are much younger than me with older DC but in my head we are all the same age )...not sure if I am explaining that very well.

She is frighteningly confident

Boco what sort of thing do you think you are going to be doing? I mean have you some ideas already?

BBBee · 03/09/2008 21:28

we shall be your life cheerleaders. we shall stand in the background shouting
'go boco' as you clear out a cupboard and make a list for the garden centre.

filthymindedvixen · 03/09/2008 21:28

It was great having someone saying in a very calm way. ''OK. So when are you going to fill in that passport application? Tomorrow? Ok, good. What time tomorrow...''

Oh god, I can hear her voice now!!

It didn't change my life and I never did have more driving lessons, but my god, she tried!

I did however, explore some home business projects and got into a routine of having shopping delivered and doing my paperwork on a monday (day off) instead of pissing about on here.

And she made me do one of those circle of life forms, to see which areas of m,y life I felt were lacking and which I was hppy with (eg spirituality, home life, sex life, money etc etc)

FrayedKnot · 03/09/2008 21:29

Oh postcard and parcel thing was funny.

"The Joy of Cheese"
I think my parents had that book hidden in the top of their wardrobe

BBBee · 03/09/2008 21:30

oh FK - menat to say - mine did / do that crying thing when I go out. Friend told me to go out regularly and more so they get used to it rather than avoid going out and it worked. Even habit of nipping out for five minutes to shops etc helps.

filthymindedvixen · 03/09/2008 21:32

I am currently gorging on MN in the manner of one who is due a MN holiday in order to , erm, achieve some stuff in RL...

Boco · 03/09/2008 21:37

well, no, I want to change pretty major things really. I need to decide what I want to do - career wise. Do I stick with illustration and make a real go of it, do I accept that i'm not actually good enough to succeed in any way so I might as well get a proper job and stop faffing around. Do I become a teacher, do I retrain as a social worker, do I get a local admin job just to pay the mortgage, will i ever pass my test and be able to get out of The Village? WHAT SHALL I DOOOOO.

filthymindedvixen · 03/09/2008 21:40

Oh crap, not another mid-life crisis...
I had one but it was out-shone by dh's...
Mine's currently on hold.
I'm opting for the stick-fingers-in-ears and tend my garden while I wait for my special purpose to fall into my lap.

(and for the record, I think you're good enough.)

Boco · 03/09/2008 21:43

Oh god don't say midlife crisis!

I feel like I haven't actually started yet, I'm a late bloomer, I can't have a midlife crisis til I've actually made a start on something.

But when I do have one, it'll involve sex and drugs, not retraining as something low paid and worthy.

BBBee · 03/09/2008 21:46

i think you are good enough too, but i think in that kind of thing you have to be good and lucky.

i think that you should do something that allows you to still do that as well because i think if you are not doing art you will go all funny.

from what you said i agree with keep trying with teaching / art clubs / creative things in the background.

filthymindedvixen · 03/09/2008 21:47

disagree - she is sixth most unfunny person on mnet. there was a thread.

FrayedKnot · 03/09/2008 21:49

Boco that makes me feel better, I have been at the "retraining as something low paid and worthy" stage for the last three years, so bring on the drugs and sex

I think it's about time.

BBBee · 03/09/2008 21:49

AVI - make me do my cross stich!

who was most unfunny?

Avi, nice to see you! I'd be up for a Spring meet-up (lordy, that's scary, have winter to get through!)

I'm off to bed with my book, before dh comes home with depressed friend, who I love but cannot face comforting right now...

Guadalupe · 03/09/2008 21:52

avi - i have to finish a cross stitch bookmark for my sister for her birthday and it is hard and i can;t be motivated. send me vibes.

FrayedKnot · 03/09/2008 21:54

Avi that sounds a bit

DS seems mostly to just play at nursery, and do lots of painting. They also have a music and a dancing session in term time.

How were they being taught?

BBBee · 03/09/2008 21:55

(I am reading small island)

berolina · 03/09/2008 21:55

lol at Bozo Bozo.
Am with you on the orientation confusion and waiting-for-special-purpose. I have been a [non-med!] Dr for 5 years now (passed my viva 5 years ago today) and was in work when I remembered - it was a rather sinking feeling thinking 'and this is what I've done with it?' If I manage to follow my plan, though, I will be inching back now to where I feel I should be, which is comfort. We can make changes and get things done together, Boco
Tending your garden is a good and lovely thing, FMV

OB, do get yourself well-deserved nice clothes. You can put a little bit of it away.

Franny, I am sorry about work situation. It is yuk.

Pear, apple, plums, rocket, cucumber, sunflower-seed bread, veg lasagne.

Twiglett · 03/09/2008 21:56

KUDOS ON ANOTHER EXCELLENT TITLE

my fave so far I think

berolina · 03/09/2008 21:58

Lots of x posts.

Bee you are very right, I think, about going all funny if (just generalising it) you do not do what you love.
