We had peaches, we had plums, we had strawberries in the sun, but the peaches and the plums, like the strawberries are all gone - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

about work
I brought it up so you don't need to apologise for talking about it Tatties! I just suddenly realised it is a bit sensitive and I shouldn't be discussing it on public forum
I am not going to be going back yet, basically, but this is very awkward
don;t know quite how to tackle it

"What kind of greens, titty? I don't think I can call you that"

Kale is very good. Anything dark green and curley really.

Yes, I did do good yesterday. Actually I did more than 10 because I scarfed a pot of coleslaw five minutes before going to bed. Only because it was about to pass its sell-by date and I didn't want to waste it.

I used to feel bad about being a human dustbin until Gordon Brown made his speech on not wasting food. Now I realise that finishing off all the food on my children's plates/the trimmings from the back of the fridge etc is actually ideologically and environmentally sound, so I do it without a trace of guilt.

Oh but coleslaw at 11.30 pm..... don't try that one at home ladies. I slept like a baby - ie, woke up every two hours suffering from wind......

On a nicer note - would anyone like to admire the pictures of my children, which I've just uploaded? Also (to tempt you) a picture of the immediate aftermath of the messiest homebirth in history (no prizes for spotting the aforementioned poo stains on my quilt)?

Tatties · 03/09/2008 12:31

TBB what lovely pictures! Your children are beautiful. I can't see any poo stains!

Franny that's brilliant about ds2's weight I didn't go back to work when my mat leave finished... I realise my work situation was different from yours, but I just called my boss and explained how I didn't feel ready to come back, ds still wasn't sleeping great, etc... he understood.

Tittybangbang · 03/09/2008 12:50

Thanks Tatties!

Actually the poo stain is invisible in this resized picture I've just realised.... As are all my broken capillaries and spots, hurray!

Franny - having a bigun does make you feel good (no slight to mothers of beautiful, fairy like babies here). There's something very basic about the pride you feel about nurturing a bouncing baby. Without meaning to be rude, you do feel like you've won prize pig at the fair sometimes.

littlerach · 03/09/2008 13:04

Wow, gorgeous children, TBB.

That was one big baby!!!!

Last day of hols for dd1 today.
I have realised dd2 doesn't start til next Friday
And then only for 2 hours a day for a week.

I will never remember when to take her in.

filthymindedvixen · 03/09/2008 13:07

(I always felt a teeny bit proud of producing relative whoppers (8lb 10oz and 9lb 9oz) because I am quite skinny and after years of suffering with tiny tits, I loved the fact that I could feed 2 strapping boys with huge appetites, despite apparant lack of equipment, as it were )

filthymindedvixen · 03/09/2008 13:08

and your children are uttelry scrumptious!

Lentil and bean soup, many grapes, rasps, blackberries.

Tittybangbang · 03/09/2008 13:19

I know just what you mean fmv. Did you get the 'what the heck are you feeding them on comments'?

I got loads of those with ds2 who went up through two centiles after he was born. I used to do that Les Dawson thing (you know - crossing your arms underneath what bosom you've got and sort of hefting them up) and mutter modestly about being the daintiest heifer on the farm.....

OsmosisBanana · 03/09/2008 13:29

Not doing very well with food atm....

Having lost 6lb recently (not through any effort, just lack of eating at many festivals over consecutive weekends) I am now stuck in a dangerous loop of not wanting to undo my good work.... having flirted briefly (jeez haven't most females) with anorexia as a yoof I need to reign that in....

But maybe for just one more week until I can find a bikini to wear on holiday that doesn't make me want to cry.

Sorry for the reveal of personal info. I'm not that odd. Tell them TooT.

Mushroom soup from farmers market - prob a good 3 or so portions in there
I have rasps and 2 x bananas on my desk so shall assume they will be gone by the end of the day...

6 then. And I dare say I shall sneak some into dinner later.

More impressively though, I managed to sit in the hell that is the city centre post office for over 40 mins sweating and shaking without trying to stab someone with a broken biro. Skillz...

LittleR, skirt in post.

OsmosisBanana · 03/09/2008 13:30

LOL at poo stains Titty, all I could think when I was given DD to hold after the birth was 'god she smells like shit'. Indeed she did. My shit.

TigerFeet · 03/09/2008 14:19

Well hellllooooo veggers

OsBa my eating ishoos lie in the other direction - compulsive overeating - hence my whaleish proportions

I kinda like this thread because it gives me permission to eat but forces me to fill up on healthy things

THat said I have been crap recently but am on the up now

DD's first day at school today - she is home now - it went well and she is gabbling on about going back tomorrow so hurrah

apple cake
another slice -of-- apple cake

OsmosisBanana · 03/09/2008 14:44

You're bad TF. I want apple cake. I have raspberries. Which are from Tesco so probably taste like malted battery acid.

OsmosisBanana · 03/09/2008 14:45

You kno it's the last 1 dayer today don't you TF?

Overrun · 03/09/2008 14:50

Blimey this thread does move fast. Too knackered to try and pick up on what every one has posted. But my initial thoughts are "what interesting lives you lead"
My own small contribution to the play in education discussion comes from ds1 who started year 1 yesterday. He said "dim chwarae" which is basic welsh for not enough play. He mentioned sitting down a lot. So he has noticed a big difference from Reception. He still did lots of drawing though, he is a fanstastic drawer and brings home reams and reams of books he has made, all illustrated
Sorry to hear about your work woes franny, I am trying to work out what difference it will make for me to go back to work part time, in terms of what money we have coming in.
So far today I have had a 2 bananas ( I think I eat a lot of them cos they are not messy) a Satsuma and a green salad with lunch, and once again lots of tomatos with my sandwhich.
It is so wet here, absalutely slashing down, we all got drenched going to school, ds1 was crying, and the dts actually held onto my hands (a first) it was beating it down. Miserable, I had to change them when we got back, and looking out the window now, it is awful again, typical A fine argument for home ed is ever I thought of one.

Thanks to every one who looked at my thread even if they didn't have anything they could say. I have given up today, as it is a truely hopeless cause methinks.
Just worrying about their speech today, I just take turns to worry about things atm

TigerFeet · 03/09/2008 15:33

It's been rained off thus far OB

4-0 4-0 4-0

Overrun are you bilingual? I would love to be able to speak another language well and it would be fabulous for dd. Sadly we are English through and through - well not sad that we are English, but sad that there is no oppurtunity for fluency in another language iyswim

womblingalong · 03/09/2008 15:46

Hello All,

FK< what's up my lovely?

Franny, can you not negotiate to start work later than you intended. Sorry for being a thicko, but I don't understand why you can't change your mind....

Mrs C, your dinner souns delish, aprt from having to put all children to bed when you got back!

KIsses to all of you, must dash, am at work, came on for a quick catch up!

TooTicky · 03/09/2008 16:31

Overrun, are you Welsh? Are your dcs bilingual? [nosey]

OB is not weird. Really she's not.
OB, eat fgs. But eat good stuff. Have flirted similarly. I find eating big salads v. good for zing factor and morale. And they are obv healthy. Salads with a bit of fruit are very easy to eat I find.

TittyBB - your children are gorgeous

TooTicky · 03/09/2008 16:33

My dcs were all between 8lb1.5oz and 8lb14oz, which is quite good for my size I think. Dp was 12lb something so I was apprehensive...

TooTicky · 03/09/2008 16:39

Ds1 has a smart new haircut With Tramlines. Proud boy on my profile

I have made a fruitily fruit-filled cake for dd1's birthday. It is in the oven smelling delish.

OsmosisBanana · 03/09/2008 16:47

That is quite some shiner TooT! And how did you contain such bigguns?!?!?

DD was 7lb7, which is what I weighed and also what my mother weighed. When born maybe I should point out

I hate this job. I don't even know if I can hack just 6 more days of it.

I am having a 'leaving do'. I have given DH strict instructions that he has to pick DD up from nursery and bring her to the pub but take us both home before we get too tired / drunk. That way I won't have to hang around too long.

I have saved up nearly £400 for my student wardrobe overhaul... That is about £300 more than I thought I had. Now feel that maybe I should save it for something else more worthwhile as there is so much of it.

God bless those £2 coins, so easy to keep hold of.

Boco · 03/09/2008 16:47

DD's first day at nursery went very well, she loved it and didn't want to come home. Mostly she loved her new bag and walks with extra bounce wearing it on her back. Even though it was empty.

I went to the post office to get my Bozo mail.
It was a postcard from BEEE. You forgot to put a stamp on it you plum. It did obviously say Boco, but the postman had misread and put bozo on the slip. Then I'd asked my brother if he'd sent me a parcel to 'bozo', and he said no, why would anyone call you Bozo?' and i said 'I don't know, nevermind'. So, he sent the 2 series of the wire recorded delivery to Miss Bozo Sirname. And I missed the post due to driving lesson so had two things to collect for miss bozo. The woman asked me if i was picking them up for someone else and I said no, and she said, 'So..you're Bozo sirname? Have you got some id?'

OsmosisBanana · 03/09/2008 16:49

That is truly brilliant.

filthymindedvixen · 03/09/2008 18:16
