Hello girls....

OP posts:
prettyfly1 · 15/03/2005 14:21

i am stuck in an office with three idiot men who think that even though i look like a beachball with legs they can still make me run around after them. I would love to swap. I used to do avon and i always liked doing the distribution side of things. Been well grumpy all week so can sympathise entirely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dropinthe · 15/03/2005 14:38

How rotten!! I only do smallfry Avon-just enough to earn the minimum commssion a month-keep going with the lozenges-they get better and are helping me alot-I know what you mean re kids thinking its ok to smoke-my three year old had just started asking me "what you doin Mummy??" and I swore once he started taking an interest thats when I'd stop. I remember asking my Mum when I was a kid if it kept her warm to smoke-God,when I think she used to smoke in bed with me and I used to love the smell!!

prettyfly1 · 15/03/2005 15:00

me too. Now i really truly cant stand it - mind you thats only been since i got pregnant. I saw the ex a couple of weeks ago and i hated that even though he smokes he turned his nose up at me for still being unable to quit while pregnant I must admit it is a motivator for me to stop as i wont have that!!! What do you find toughest and do you find the deep breathing exercises effective-have you tried them. On the third Nicotine lozenge now.

dropinthe · 15/03/2005 15:14

Not tried said exercises-dont do deep breathing-probably from smoking and no excercise!!

prettyfly1 · 15/03/2005 15:56

Me neither, but i just started trying them and they are quite good - they help go through the worst - do feel a bit silly though.

trying to write a list at the moment of things to do to keep myself occupied tonight so i have no excuses.

dropinthe · 15/03/2005 15:57

I havent kept myself occupied today-have just vegged out on mnet nearly allday-not good! Then work tonight-not good!

prettyfly1 · 15/03/2005 16:10

i am trying to do anything. If i stop - ill so smoke - sounds like with everything you have going on you are entitled to not rush around constantly though.

dropinthe · 15/03/2005 16:17

I normaly am rushing around but dont get a great deal of satisfaction from slobbing out(I would if the kids werent here-Big glass of wine, maybe read a book, hot bath instaed of luke warm showers,a bit of UKStyle/food on the tele)but all Ive had today is bloody ceebeebies and Mumnset!

prettyfly1 · 15/03/2005 16:25

aaah bless. I have the whole childrens tv thing to come - really not high on my list of fun viewing. Is it cruel to not have a tv? (only messing) I really do feel like cravings are just constant at the moment. What a nightmare. Thats with the lozenges.

dropinthe · 15/03/2005 16:31

These first few days are really crap-I know you shouldnt turn to food really but why not think about something really scrummy you can get for dinner that you havent had for ages(even something like a microwavable stew and dumplings to save effort!)or more upmarket like an M&S Beef Wellington with new pots and minted peas.Just for the first week or two-sorry you might not be a foody like me but just thinking of alternatives!!!

almost40 · 15/03/2005 16:47

I must admit that I gave in and had 2 on Saturday night. I was exhausted and was out with DH who smokes. I feel terrible about it, but haven't had one since then.

prettyfly1 · 15/03/2005 16:57

i did too almost and i still feel really bad - i am a MAJOR foody so that is a great idea. Think i will take myself for a walk as well as i do get restless. I sat this afternoon and wrote out a list of everything i could do to keep myself amused and there is loads, its just that horrid little voice at the back of my head going - go on you know none of them are as good as smoking- its only one - noone will ever know then you can stop for good - making things difficult

tiddlypom · 15/03/2005 17:22

My kids are being very understanding about me finishing off their packets of Fairtrade biscuits in my bid to quit smoking! I still haven't succumbed to the fags in my second day (hooray); I'm letting myself do very little except not smoke. Thanks for your support everyone.

prettyfly1 · 15/03/2005 17:30

ahh bless them thats so sweet. Well done mate you are doing really well. I have to sign off now but good luck to everyone!!!!!

whymummy · 15/03/2005 22:22

i'm off tomorrow,i can't wait to meet my friends and go out but i'm dreading it at the same time, will i be strong enough? i keep thinking about it,it's going to be a tough test,if i can get through it i know i'm cured.
i'll be back later to see how you're doing

prettyfly1 · 16/03/2005 10:30

Morning Guys. Totally fag free still. Still finding it very tough. Went to bed last night and was very restless and anxious. Keep getting a tight chest as well. How are you guys getting on - good luck today whymummy.

fee77 · 16/03/2005 12:15

Have a great time whymummy - you can do it!!!! We will all miss you here.
I am in such a good mood today - it is gorgeous out there. DD and i went for a power walk(!) to tescos then went to the park. I feel so invigorated. Why can't i feel like this every day.

prettyfly1 · 16/03/2005 12:28

aaah i am so jealous - stuck in the office and keep finding excuses to go get fresh air cause its so Lovely out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fee77 · 16/03/2005 13:08

oh sorry i didn't mean to rub it in! I am off to mow the lawn now. Don't work too hard.

almost40 · 16/03/2005 13:17

Hi, pf1. How are you? I like the idea of making a list of all the things you can do other than smoke. Shall we start our own list?

  1. phone a friend
  2. eat (ok - that's not a good one)
  3. drink (preferably a glass of water)
  4. chew gum
  5. read
  6. mumsnet - obviously! what else??
Carla · 16/03/2005 14:01

Hi guys - just wanted to give you a little more in the way of incentive ...

Just got back from the dentist. I didn't even know he knew I smoked, but he told me that my smoking is causing premature receeding of my gums.

Mmmmmm ..... nice!

X

prettyfly1 · 16/03/2005 15:52

Hi Guys,

not rubbing it in mate, i hope you are really enjoying the nicer weather. Just jealous. On my list is even daft things like painting my nails ( not someting i get a great deal of time for), getting throught the ironing pile, reading a chapter of a book, that sort of thing. Mind you i am enjoying the last few weeks of peace before ds is born - after that ill wonder how i had time to smoke!!!!!!

whymummy · 16/03/2005 16:19

hi everyone
thanks fee and prettyfly
