For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I have just finished a v. large plate of bolognese and am still ravenous. There is no proper bread, cake or chocolate. I should make something but I am tired and anyway I don't think there's any sugar [disorganised]

Dd2 got knocked over by a swing today. She wasn't badly hurt, mostly shocked, and she went all gaspy and gulpy and had to be pushed in the buggy and I had to carry my friend's dd (who can't walk yet) and the combination of actions has somehow strained my back. I NEVER strain my back, not even carrying utterly stupid amounts of shopping. I hope I am not getting feeble.

FrannyandZooey · 21/08/2008 19:43

UR, you know you had perhaps better stop precising as you are too good at it and nobody will actually read the thread at all

am also worried about the fish

grapes
banana
strawberries

OP posts:
TooTicky · 21/08/2008 19:44

Where did the fish come from? Did they just swim through the door? Sorry, but I am glad other people have chaos like ours.

SB, good luck with the book. I have actually only ever made one thing from it, but every so often I flick through it and intend to make things.

FrannyandZooey · 21/08/2008 19:45

ah fish is explained

TooT oh dear
very easy to strain back even if strong and young

Sfae journey mrsC if you are still here... see you soon

I am all cross and shakey and stressed after single-handedly packing and tidying while DH sauntered around beaming and saying ''I think these glasses will really suit my fancy dress costume...'' etc

F&Z if it is any conslation, you have made the right decision - EOTR has sold out of all children's tickets

Will shortly be eting some veg. Honestly. I have banned dh from drinking tonight as he keeps snoring a lot and keeping me awake. I really want a glass of wine now but feel it would be churlish.

FrannyandZooey · 21/08/2008 19:53

oh golly! thanks for that FMF
sorry for others who were planning to go
we are trying to choose nice campsite instead - ds1 is thrilled
I am 99% is best decision - we can really do our own thing and go at our own pace and there will be no pressure
if turns out to be disaster who cares? can come home
will not have spent hundreds of pounds

Right - I think we are ready would you believe, and there's no sign of a fish anywhere. Must stop for win on the way. Only 450 miles to go...

See you all next week and see you tomorrow, FMV!

(and I mean REAL smoke, bloody van )

Guadalupe · 21/08/2008 20:34

do you think it would be silly to take my stripey Missoni dress?

Guadalupe · 21/08/2008 20:36

I will buy wings or something daft for Saturday and make FMV swear oaths not to say what I looked like.

RIGHT, I am gone.

FrayedKnot · 21/08/2008 20:37

Evening

Have great times oh Festy Goers

I have already notched up one argument with DH and it's only Thursday! The BH weekend hasn;t even offically started! Hoorah

SIL coming to stay for the weekend, with DNeice, which is fine and lovely, but am having my pre-visitors in the house stressy moment. Usually revolves around having clean looos and catering.

Franny I think camping idea sounds wise.

UR hope Indiana turns out well.

SuperBunny · 21/08/2008 20:40

Yes, camping good idea.

Hope your toilet and catering ishoos are resolved soon, FK. I get stressed about catering too. But not loos. I must go and clean mine actually. Having a small boy in the house means mine needs cleaning every 2 hours or so otherwise it gets a bit whiffy.

V hot here and 70% humidity

berolina · 21/08/2008 21:14

Good evening.

Have a lovely time festivallers. Good luck for visit, FK.

Am going to put childcare person 1 (the one I have said yes to informally) massively off job (actually some things have come up that I hadn't thought about before which would probably make it unattractive to her anyway) and go with person 2 (the one I saw yesterday).

Too many parentheses.

Our local duckpond, which is usually home to a solitary pair, had at least 30 ducks on today, all females, swimming and chasing one another around. Like a duck MN meet-up.

ds1 has been being a lamb and a kitten today, making me the relevgant mama animal. At bedtime: 'I love you, mama sheep! Shall we hold paws?' For some reason I did not have the heart to be educational and point out that sheep do not have paws.

Apple, peach, pear, carrot, balcony tomatoes, various veg (veg couscous at Ikea where we got various boring bits and a cushion for dses' new 'cuddle corner' in their room), bluebs, redcurrants. 8 or 9.

berolina · 21/08/2008 21:16

That said, I don't suppose MNers really chase one another around at meet-ups. Well, maybe at the Christmas one, to which I will almost certainly never go. And I don't suppose they swim either.

SuperBunny · 21/08/2008 21:18

I want a cuddle corner. Sounds lovely. I had no idea that Ikea did couscous. Their food here is shockingly awful.

I am often a mama something. Although recently, DS seems to have been watching a lot of Spongebob with his Dad, so I have to various SPongebob characters and I've never seen it. Honestly, his father complains that he doesn't get enough time with DS then, when he does have him, seems to do nothing but watch telly and hang out with his girlfriend

SuperBunny · 21/08/2008 21:19

Didn;t you chase Toot when you met her, Bero? I bet you did...

Sorry for rant

TooTicky · 22/08/2008 06:57

(quack)

TooTicky · 22/08/2008 07:00

Dd2 is having one of her early mornings. I am blowing bubbles for her to pop.

TooTicky · 22/08/2008 07:04

Oh dear SB

TooTicky · 22/08/2008 08:02

I am having an inspired morning. Having no bread or soya milk or fruit spread, I have made pancakes with apple and redcurrant sauce.
The downside being that I had to put egg in the pancakes due to lack of soya milk/banana/egg replacer so dd1 and I won't be eating them

FrannyandZooey · 22/08/2008 08:18

SB for you also
anything to do with Spongebob (I have never seen it either) is always improved by calling him Bob L'Eponge though. Do the whole thing with a french accent

grapes, pear, pineapple, raisins

2 very sore nipples

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 22/08/2008 08:19

OP posts:
BabiesEverywhere · 22/08/2008 09:32

No F&V yet

Franny, Sympathy on the sore nipples I have just finished healing from a small milk blister on my left nipple and it was so painful whilst latching on that side.

I must buy shares in Lansinoh lanolin cream...it is fab and £10 a tube

Tatties · 22/08/2008 11:06

Oh no Franny - have you seen the BFN info on thrush? There is a link to their leaflet on this page
How is ds2's nappy rash now?

BE get Lansinoh on prescription!

Hello all! It's Friday

FrannyandZooey · 22/08/2008 11:42

oh no sorry Tatties - what I meant was, I remembered what you said, and realised I shouldn't call mine really sore when yours were that bad

I think we still have a crap latch unfortunately
as he is now 5 weeks I feel I should sort this out
La Leche League leader coming out again as no other person in area to see me face to face apparently
she is lovely woman I feel embarrassed to keep asking her

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 22/08/2008 11:54

I don't think it is thrush
his bottom is fine now
it was the washable wipes which were too rough
