For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

n The Wrong Job I am in

berolina · 28/08/2008 13:34

ffs!

Spanish omelette for lunch with sweet potato, red pepper and red onion. Over lunch ds1 announced he didn't think he could have a baby because he is going to be a train driver . I said he could do both, and he said 'I think I am going to have a mama and aq baby on my train'. Good to see him already thinking about taking responsibility for combining family and work

Am eating two pears.

TigerFeet · 28/08/2008 13:36

Bero glad to hear things are going OK, strange boss moment aside of course

zippi your diet advice is always so sound. I just wish I could stick to something like that. I eat really healthy balanced meals and then a load of crap around them.

fishie · 28/08/2008 13:40

hello veggers i have been on hols where there was much produce from fil garden but very little exercise so i am rather fat.

lunch = leftover veg curry and lentils. parents have just bought pile of beans over though so will have them later. taking ds blackberrying in a min. glad to see fellow caper fans. do you prefer in brine or salted?

i lost 10k in about 3 months and have kept it off. still could do with losing another 5 but only have wine left to give up and have cut that down a lot already.

Tatties · 28/08/2008 13:49

at "the project mustn't suffer from my mothering activities" Bero. That would piss me off.

Wombling I meant so say good to see you, your dd's party sounded fantastic...
I am ok. Haven't been here much as I am a bit of a broken record atm.

filthymindedvixen · 28/08/2008 13:54

oh Tatties, feel free to email/phone me if you want to

Bero, I would have got rather uptight at that comment....
(mothering activities...mutter mutter mutter)

TooTicky · 28/08/2008 14:10

Bero, are you really eating two pears at the same time? Bite for bite or chopped and combined [strangely curious]
Glad work has started well ds2-wise, sorry your dept manager has dungball leanings. Did he think you were going to get breastmilk on important paperwork or something?
I owe you an email....and a parcel...

Tatties, don't avoid us, we love seeing/hearing from you. I was wondering where you've been.

Wombling!!! I just missed you last night, I popped back after ogling yarn on ebay. Dd's party sounds splendid And painting and decorating and mothering and working too
Ds2 probably having op, has also had homeopathic remedy, op probably October.

Fmv, ve have vays of making you tok (about pea varieties...)

SB, I will give you the recipe for the Hungarian apple cake - will type later though as I'm not sure how much time I have now.

Zippi - sorry you're not going up the mountain

Who else was here?

Oh, dd2 is screaming at me. She is overtired but didn't fall asleep because ds2 whispered about crisps and chocolate at a crucial moment And I had told him not to.

zippitippitoes · 28/08/2008 14:17

right i am going to dig but i must baost about the fact that i have my second thread on the home pages in a few weeks and a nomination for quote of the week

heaven knows how often these things happen when i dont notice them

i have a thread that is over 500 posts

Guadalupe · 28/08/2008 16:45

I am going to try and wean ds2. He hasn't had any milk today but I haven't been able to sit down because as soon as I do he trots over.

It's really hard but at least I can distract him in the day, god knows how I'll manage it at night though I won't try it all in one go. I have had enough of it. I feel really irritated when feeding, especially during the day.

I feel a bit sad but also pleased to have made a start.

passion fruit, grapes, bluverries and mango. Greek salad. Two Chocolate Digestives Tofu stir-fry for dinner.

peasoup · 28/08/2008 16:51

Just scanned this thread and found the post where you mention me guadaloupe! What kind of a weird thread is this, anyway?!!! I only got here by sticking "Solfest" in the Search engine. I appear to have landed in some strange "Devoted to vegetables/salad" thread?
That is so cool that we had a little chat at the festival; I'm kicking myself that I can't picture you; but I have slept very little this past week (5 nights camping; lots of motorway driving) plus the fact that when i met you i was probably verging on a delerious mental breakdown through having lost DS on site.
I really don't know for sure how long he was missing for; hard to judge when you're running around freaking out; must have been at least half an hour and maybe an hour I guess, but so hard to judge. All the folks we were camped with were looking for him (and his 5 yr old friend). And we reconvened back at our tents at least seven times and still noone had found them, so it was bloody serious. About 15 of my frinds were looking and the stewards. We were camped almost by the entrance to the main body of the festival-in between the entrance and the Fellside village green (semi quiet family camping field) and they'd walked all the way down to the road and were crossing over to the overspill fields. Yuk! I feel sick thinking about it-cars, lakes, water, danger, agghh!!!
They weren't upset and lost and crying when someone found them; they were off on a happy little adventure together.
Now I'm wracking my brains trying to picture you! My head's so foggy and I didn't even get wrecked all weekend at the festival as I'm a nice responsible Mummy type now (apart from losing my child at said festival that is). I do remember sitting next to a woman in blue at the veggie cafe with a little girl about 2 yrs old. Girl had brown eyes and a green top with white embroidery and a bit of a fierce independant streak if i remember correctly. But i did eat there three times that festival and each time i got in there i was so bloody raveneous starving I just elbowed whoever was sat down out of the way and stuffed my face in a frenzy, so i didn't really take in my surroundings. It was the best food at the festival. I love veggy grub!! Is that what this thread is all about? What a bunch of weirdos.
If you weren't that woman with the little girl then i want more clues! Were you with a.....man? I went to that cafe once with just DH and DS, and twice with a gang of others. What part of the nation do you hail from? Maybe I'm familiar cos we know each other from a distant (and sordid) past.
filthy vixon- didn't see your post; will go back and check that thread now. Did you and Guad meet up at Solfest?

Guadalupe · 28/08/2008 17:22

Blimey, I had to read that twice!

This is a weird thread. We usually try and aim for ten portions of fruit and veg a day rather than five and I think some people exercise but mostly we seem to be like-minded people who try
drink too much and eat too much cake to be healthy and talk a lot of crap.

You reminded me of someone on here actually, 100x, or how I think she looks from a faint picture I saw once. I liked your hair and I was so terrified of losing my son that your story really stuck with me and then I kept seeing you and thinking that's the poor woman who lost her son for ages.

I can't think how else to describe myself really, you probably wouldn't remember me, there were so many people there around that child play part. You were with a group in the cafe. Ds2 is 19 months and does look a bit girly with dark blonde curly hair but he was asleep in there so that probably wasn't me. I'm from Norwich so we had a bloody long drive. I met FMV there and we camped together which was great.

peasoup · 28/08/2008 17:29

Guadaloupe Yes, sorry about that I do tend towards really long posts! Ok, so that wasn't you with the brown eyed girl, and I've never been to Norwich.
With a 2 yr old i really don't have time to count my veg intake, but I do try to be healthy. Don't do junk food and am vegetarian for past 23 years! (showing my age)
Thanks for the hair comment; i've just been wandering around today really fed up with it and thinking it looks all fuzzy, so that's cheered me up no end [grin

Guadalupe · 28/08/2008 17:42

Long posts are fine, I was just trying to remember to answer everything.

Um, I ate some salad with the quiche and that was it at Solfest. That was also because the poeple next to me kept saying 'I can't believe people keep leaving their salad, what a waste' and I didn't really fancy mine but stuffed it in anyway. I am trying to improve now though. I do try to eat healthily.

It was hard managing without much sleep wasn't it? I crawled back after four am one night and then ds woke up early and I was a horror all day. I seemed to spend most of it looking for dh and getting in a rage because he brouught me pizza instead of quiche from the cafe but I improved later after some more cider though I would have preferred Prossecco.

I got excited in the chill out tent when I saw a bottle of cava in the fridge but they wouldn't sell it to me as it was for the barman's girlfriend's birthday so I gave them the plastic champagne glass I had in my pocket and said, well, now you can give it to her with the proper vessel. I think they thought I was a bit odd.

peasoup · 28/08/2008 17:49

My DH forgot his mobile phone charger for the car and it ran out of juice as soon as we got there, so i was desperately trying to borrow one for a Nokia. There was just no way i was gonna let him get away with wandering off without a phone and go all uncontactable on me while i was left lookin after the 2 year old!
I did manage to borrow one.
Better go and rustle up some veg for DS's tea now; talk later

FrayedKnot · 28/08/2008 18:27

Hello everyone

Are we back to our full complement today? Almost?

No, where is Avi, and Pink?

Bero I'm so pleased that your first day went so well. I have been thinking about you and wondering how you have been getting on.

Things are somewhat fraught chez FK.

DS starts school in less than a fortnight. My colleague at work (we work as a team of two, she is f/t me p/t) is moving out of the department to work elsewhere with the company and we have someone new starting next week which is obviously hopeless timing as I was supposed to be taking lots of time off to get DS settled at school (he is part time for 3 weeks) and now I am not and DH and I will be running in and out trying to remember what we are supposed to be doing for 3 weeks.

DS is quite unsettled about leaving nursery and starting school and I don;t know what to do about it...the work situation is hardly going to help

Oh and DH is applying for a job over an hour away and thinking about doing a long term weekly commute if he gets it, which he quite possible could.

pinkspottywellies · 28/08/2008 19:29

I'm here FK! Just going to read thread...

SuperBunny · 28/08/2008 19:37

Afternoon

[gloomy]
[tired]

Am glad work seems ok so far, Bero.

Where's Lully again?

pinkspottywellies · 28/08/2008 19:43

Wow. Busy couple of days. We're not all fat btw, I should be and am shrinking by the day

Haven't exercised in ages and am on here instead of making dinner so must shift my arse.

Beans, half a banana. Oh god that's it. Oh no and an apple.

OsmosisBanana · 28/08/2008 19:44

Am I allowed to go back to work in a hospital 24 hours after last symtpoms of v bad D&V?

Even if have been cleaning up after rest of family's D&V?

Please say no...

suspect I can

Please tell me I am allowed to strangle childminder who hasn't been able to look after DD for 6 out of the last 8 arranged sessions meaning I still have to pay her yet earn nowt?

yy, I understand she is entitled to holiday / sickness but can I strangle her just a leeetle??

Am looking like I have an aversion to Tuesdays, which is incidently the start of my working week so looks double bad.

Have found Blooming Marvellous under bump pair of bootcut mat jeans size 10/12. Any takers? PSW - if you dare mention how shit I am at posting stuff...... I have excuses at the ready.

Right,

salad - nearly a whole bag (don't lecture me about bagged salad, I'm not in the mood)

do felafels count? No? Thought not.

spinach
cherry toms

sadly only 3, but first day of keeping anything down.

Have massively stocked fridge though so plan good things. Have made mahoosive salad of celery, apples, chicory, sugar snaps etc etc for tomoz... assuming I'm allowed back to work.

Have lost approx £300 in wages and CM fees in the last 3 days. Wiked ai. uni will work out making me better off at this rate.

Sorry for very long whinge.

FrayedKnot · 28/08/2008 20:04

I think felafel do count, OB. Sorry about illness and loss of wages.

We clearly need something cheery to happen.

A sunny day would be good, wouldn;t it?

Pink, are you not hungry?

SuperBunny · 28/08/2008 20:06

Sounds crap, OB.

Felafel def count.

Pizza sauce? Please...

Guadalupe · 28/08/2008 20:07

Well, I just had an amazing shiatsu and the weather forecast here is for sun, sun, sun so I am cheery. We might camp again this weekend, or maybe just go to the beach for the day. We'll see.

Guadalupe · 28/08/2008 20:08

Pulses count for one don't they?

fishie · 28/08/2008 20:22

felafel surely count. i don't pay my cm when she is sick.

frayedknot is an hour commute really worth leaving home for?

i am going back to work on monday after a fortnight off and am feeling very worried about it. new team member starting on tues but strategy meeting to organise by thursday, so will either have to neglect her or not prepare properly. will probably end up doing both.

beans
salsa verde (put too much mustard in was bitter)
apple
mango

bread in oven but some flour is burning so does not smell nice.

filthymindedvixen · 28/08/2008 20:31

we want to go camping but all the nice sites are full, full, full
