For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello

Franny you will make perfect Alice.

Am impressed with your Bank Holiday plans given newness of DS2 and the all night cafe malarky.

I have been very poor on F&V. Well, V OK but F not.

Sometimes it is difficult with visitors to be scoffing fruit at all times of the day.

And no proper exercise but a long walk today and floating about swimming this morning.

I am feeling a bhit cabin feverish with guests and would like the house back but they are not leaving 'til Tues morning. By which time I am back to work. Ho hum.

I picked a staggering 69 small, red tomatoes today!!! Also lots of fine purple beans, a few runners, some peas and two plums. Poor tree has only managed about 7 plums this year
Made a jolly vegful risotto with leek, courgette, ruinner beans, purple beans and peas. Yum.

Avi, was it just dh in the car at the time? How scary!!
Well done for surviving parenting criticism.

Oh, I have all but finished the cardi and it is HUGE!! Probably won't fit her for a year
Am tentatively wondering if it will shrink a little on first wash.

Lots of love to everybody, I am off to bed.

SuperBunny · 25/08/2008 03:00

Hello

You usually start a new thread on Mondays so not sure if there is any point posting here but I will anyway

Went to see BF on Fri to shout at him and dump him but only just came back and am not single so didn't quite go according to plan.

Anyway, I ate some veg and also went to Dairy Queen. It's like the icecream version of MacDonalds I've never been before, in 5 yrs of living here so it was time to try it. I know it was not very 10/10

One year anniversary, Zippi, well done. Am glad BF is so enthusiastic about doing something.

Avi, well done on tongue biting and Toot - wow at tomatoes!

TigerFeet · 25/08/2008 09:02

69 tomatoes - the fourteen year old boy in me is sniggering away at that - heheheh, she said sixty-nine hehehehe

SO what happened with the non-dump UR? Is he getting another chance?

lolol@ casting out MamaG. DD mithered me for ages about McDonalds so a couple of weeks ago so we went and she sniffed and decided she didn't like her cheeseburger after all . I like cheeseburgers though

IL's arrived on Friday and left yesterday and my Mum arrives this evening and stays until Friday. So I know exactly how you feel FK. DH hates it when my Mum comes, because he can't relax. I hate it when his parents come, because I can't relax. I had rather too much wine at a wedding do we went to on Sat night so ran straight to bed when we got back so they wouldn't have to see me pissed. I felt about 14 years old.

Congrats zippi

Hope Alice and all the festy goers had/have a good time

mango
blueberries

yum

pinkspottywellies · 25/08/2008 10:29

FGS I've lost another pound this week I thought I'd have put some on cos I've been eating over the weekend and everything! Oh well I suppose I should be pleased. Less to lose afterwards and all that.

Great tomato news TooT.

Avi well done on tongue biting

Hope everyone's having a great weekend. We're having our first playdoh session. DD's having a great time She hasn't tried to eat it yet either (not homemade I'm afraid - just some stuff MIL got ages ago!) Has prompted me to wonder about the clay cock though Franny. What became of it?

FrannyandZooey · 25/08/2008 10:51

Avi what did she criticise? I wish you had bitten her
I am sure being gracious in the face of stupidity is very saintly though

FK I love that saying about visitors and fish stinking after 3 days

Pink are they worrying about you? I mean the midwives and so on? Or is it ok?
actually my pg Queen of Hearts friend lost weight at the beginning and she does look wonderfully slim and chic

The clay cock is hidden behind some other art stuff but it keeps rearing its head up every now and then

TooT all the tomatoes! we picked about 10 yesterday. How many plants have you got?

UR tell us the story, that is too intriguing not to

strawbs, mango, grapes, banana, raisins

I have a fab Drink Me bottle with red water in. Looks marvellous IMO. We are off in a minute - just going to do ds1's whiskers [giddy]

OP posts:
pinkspottywellies · 25/08/2008 10:55

LOLOLOL at cock rearing it's head

Had booking in appt about a month ago and won't see midwife for another 2 weeks so don't know. I guess I'll wait til my appt.

BBBee · 25/08/2008 11:21

avi - what is he going as in a red dress - and you are petite so how are you going to source that?

toot- are the tomatoes are destined for what?

pink - I think you should make a crumble as it is comfort food with fruit.

I am going to try hard today as have been lax over holidays and generally body feeels 'well upholstered' which is never a good sign.

am supposed to be working and is most D-U-L-L.

pinkspottywellies · 25/08/2008 11:41

I made crumble on Saturday BBB. I had some sat and yesterday and there is more left for today and I had loads of custard

BBBee · 25/08/2008 12:37

do you know I hardly ever go out into the big wide mumsnet world now. I only seem to post on here. Do you all flit about the place and I am the only anti-social one taking refuge here?

I look around, but after being flayed on the Georgia thread I am reluctant to go out there again.

pinkspottywellies · 25/08/2008 12:43

What happened on the Georgia thread BBB? I have times where I only post on here. Sometimes I lurk everywhere else but don't post!! Sometimes I put my 2p worth in. I like having this little corner to hide in

BBBee · 25/08/2008 12:46

oh dear pink - I got then to delete all my posts and I flounced. It was silly because it was a political discussion and I was biased and it was quite hurtful.

I was surprised how horrid people were, but I am used to you all being nice and not calling me naive or saying I'm lecturing.

Will try and find it and link (because you are oh so interested )

pinkspottywellies · 25/08/2008 12:48

I think it's a bit off that people were nasty to you considering why you started the thread

Lullabyloo · 25/08/2008 13:05

& How very dare they Bee
I feel very protective over all the 10/10 ers
I cant imagine you ever saying anything that would provoke that sort of attitude, you are so lovely.
How is dh & family?

Avi saved me from a flaying ages ago, that's how I found 10/10

Franny..day sounds fab,I love the drink me bottle
Hope you all have fun

ds has been on a sugar high & quite potty having had homemade blackberry jam on his toast this morning.

fullmoonfiend · 25/08/2008 16:58

Afternoon. I am on here before I have even unpacked. I say this only so when Guad checks in she can show her dh, so he will not take the piss out of her for being on here too often

We had a lovely weekend, and I am utterly in love with MrsC and her beautiful van family. So. Very. Tired. now And filthy.

Erm, I definitely have achieved 10 over a four day period. And I am putting myself forward for boot camp in penitance. Though I have had lots of excercise...

FrannyandZooey · 25/08/2008 18:17

hello fmf!

Bee sorry you got upset out there in big MN world. It can be brutal which is why I like it lentilly and fluffy on here

Ok guess how many adults other than mad pg friend and I dressed up in fancy dress today?

hmm yes you guessed it

we had fun though
her outfit was a HOOT
she had a wig and everything - brilliant

hardly any children dressed up either
we did have a great time though and the tea was VERY nice although MrsC and Tatties will not be surprised when I say they kept taking the plates away too soon
in the end they had cleared the entire table (about 100 people sitting at one very long table in the great hall) except for where I had this stockpile of cake around me
god I must stop being such a greeder or will be heifer forever

dp so kind - I said "I am sorry if this is embarrassing" (me dressing up as Alice in Wonderland in kind of post natal frenzy and making complete show of myself, plus going in for 3 legged race with pg friend dressed as Queen of Hearts)
he said "no it is sweet really"
