For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello
Tea party sounds good Franny, your dp is very nice and fond isn't he.

FMF how was the festival?

My brother is staying. He has grown a peculiar moustache like a strong man from a victorian circus, or a first world war poet or something - with waxed tips that point upwards. Is a bit chaotic here. He's buying chinese food for dinner with the girls and me and dp are taking a moment to recover from all the roaring and rolling and throwing and galloping.

Afternoon

Glad all festy peeps have a good time (I have no idea where peeps came from, I don't usually use that word) & Franny's dressing up went well.

When we were at the zoo last week, one of the giraffes was named Franny.

Oh, story re BF not v interesting really. We sort of had an argument because we were being indecisive (and I was still pissed off about his being crap the previous weekend) and he ended the conversation with, "Well, you have my phone number so call me," and then my phone dies so I couldn't ring him to sort things out. I decided I could either sit and be cross all of Friday night then send a stroppy email on Saturday but not really know what was going on OR I could get in the car, drive 50 miles into the country and shout at him & dump him in person. So that's what I did. But it was late when I got there because I got lost and I didn't feel like shouting. But we talked and sorted things out I think. So I stayed til Sunday.

My phone never recovered so I have to get a new one

oh boco - i like it when your brother is around - what are the reasons behind the facial hair.

The tea party sounded wonderful - I would have dressed up and I think it is a bit sad that not many people made an effort. What did DP wear?

I like your friend more and more.

Also that thing your DP said is very lovley.

Welcome back festivallers - go and have a bath now.

BBBee · 25/08/2008 19:46

SuperBunny - i read your whole story thinking it was about BreastFeeding and I kept waiting for the breast feeding to feature and I got rather confused.

I will go and read it again with either BOY friend or BEST friend.

BBBee · 25/08/2008 19:47

are you going to leave him then? what made you not shout?

SuperBunny · 25/08/2008 19:49

Yes, use BOY friend It isn't even a very interesting story.

Boco, your brother sounds very entertaining.

Oh no, Avi. School comments really irritate me. DS will be 3 in a few weeks and every time someone realises how old he is they ask if he's in preschool. Why? Why does a 3 yr old need to be in preschool? It's not like he is locked up and does nothing but sit with me all day. And he can write a letter. OK, so it's only one but still.

ds1 has taught himself to write mummy so i keep getting several 'letters' each day in envelopes addressed to 'mummy'
inside it says 'mummy' 'ds1's name'
i have about 20 of them

Went to Devizes street festival today - went along the canal as thought parking would be hell. There were some fun events, including Nakupelle - the one with the monkey. It was really good.
Dd1 and ds1 cycled back in about an hour, ds2, dd2 and I walked/investigated locks (there are plenty look! ) /grazed on blackberries/climbed in and out of the buggy and too just over three hours!
Poor dd1 got concerned and went looking for us, we just missed each other here, taking different routes to/from canal and she went all the way back to Devizes before turning back. Dp went to meet her. I made her a special dinner and pudding.
Dd2 completely crashed in buggy - don't know what to do with her. She needs a bath really as she is grey with blackberry stains and sticky bits from candy floss.

So, how is everybody else?

TooTicky · 25/08/2008 21:15

Also having a school uniform crisis as unhelpful websites like M&S say dd1 has the waist of a 16yo which is bollocks. Am reluctant to faff with stupid sizing via mail order and may have to go to hell and shop. But which hell? Bath, Bristol, Swindon and Salisbury main options.

SuperBunny · 25/08/2008 21:35

Gosh Toot, that's quite a hill with all those locks! What a lovely day.

The only good thing about the US is that they don't have school uniforms.

I want to teach DS to write Mummy.

TooTicky · 25/08/2008 21:36

This country seems to be uniform mad these days - even the primary schools.

SuperBunny · 25/08/2008 21:50

I liked kids having uniforms when I was teaching because I could identify my group from afar. But I am not sure that primary school children need to be uniformed really. Or secondary ones either actually. I hated mine.

SuperBunny · 25/08/2008 21:51

I meant when we went on a trip. I knew the red ones were mine and I could ignore whatever the blue children were doing.

TooTicky · 25/08/2008 22:14

Most of the primaries seem to be red these days.
I suppose uniform does have its place in reducing the poor/rich kids divide clothes-wise. But then you still get the ones in faded uniform and the ones who get brand new each year whether they need it or not.
